Tomorrow Is The Big Day! Dec-4

Heading to Mexico tomorrow for Tuesday surgery! I can't believe it is finally here. Pre-Op diet has gone well....I've already lost 6 pounds! It makes me question myself a bit, thinking why can't I lose this weight without surgery? Anyone else experienced this? I'm just so ready to be healthy and normal weight again. Not willing to sacrifice any more time to obesity and all it brings. I'm really thankful to everyone on this board for sharing their stories and struggles- it makes mine easier. Send me happy thoughts, positive vibes, good karma, and prayers for my surgery day and new life!

Bariatric Surgery Do's And Don'ts

Good luck tomorrow!! Keep us posted on your progress. -
I've had all of these thoughts and fears. I think it is pretty normal to have fears about the unknown, which is what us pre-sleevers are facing. I smiled when I read, "i want the end result, but I don't wanna be miserable" because I'm already miserable. I'm miserable every time I shop for clothes. I'm miserable every time I put on my swim suit. I'm miserable every time I sit down to eat and I inhale the table. I'm miserable when I feel like I'm out of control every time I put food into my mouth. I'm miserable wondering if there will ever be a way out of this fat body. I'm miserable every time I try to diet and gain every bit of weight back plus more. I've finally decided that I don't want to be miserable any more. I refuse to be a slave to food any longer in my life. It is scary, but staying the way I am now is even scarier for me. I'm done and I'm moving forward! Good luck in your journey, whatever you decide. Know that there are others just like you- including me.

Getting sleeved Tuesday too! More excited than nervous at this point. I'm sure I'll have some jitters on Tuesday though! Seems like everyone has slightly different diets, but most do have clear liquids one or two days before surgery, and nothing at all past midnight day before surgery. Definitely call your Dr. if you are questioning your prep diet. You want to be totally prepared. Good luck Tuesday!!

Heading To Mx In The Morning!

Luck, luck, and more luck! See you tomorrow. It's really happening for us! -
I'm 9 days preop and having all the same anxiety. My hubby assures me that this is normal. I've been trying to focus on how great it's going to be to wear normal sizes again and not have to shop in the Plus Size section, and being able to pose proudly for pics instead of ducking when I see a camera. Can't wait for Onederland! Life after surgery is going to be fantastic! :-) That's what's helping me through all of the anxiousness. Almost there.....

Driving To San D? Support Person? Passport?
wndrfullife replied to fletcherette's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
This is exactly what I am doing. I'm an hour from SD. Surgery scheduled for Dec 4. I'll be using one of the long term parking areas near the airport and shuttle from there to airport for pickup. I didn't want to hassle with border crossings or border parking. Seemed easier and more secure to go the airport route. I'll have to let you know about how it goes for my hubby at the hospital. I've heard only positive feedback about customer service regarding travel from hotel to hospital and back, as well as for support people who stay at the hospital. I don't know personally about the passport cards because I've always used the book, but they are supposed to work just like passport books. Good Luck with all of your plans! -

Surgery Schedule December 4
wndrfullife replied to jbarrett0109's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me! There are a few of us on dec 4, and lots of December sleevers. Just search through the forum for December sleevers and you'll find 'em. I'm getting pretty excited now. I'm very hopeful about this working for me. I've tried every diet under the sun and can't seem to keep the weight off. Reading about all the success stories here really helps too. Just a couple weeks to go. -
Dr Garcia Tijuana Patient Stats?
wndrfullife replied to TAB2012's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am scheduled with Dr. Garcia in Dec. I have not read about any fatalities with him. I can tell you that he has come highly recommended to me by a family member that had the sleeve surgery with him. I can also tell you that when I contacted "a lighter me" to try to schedule with Dr. Garcia, they told me that he was not available and suggested 2 other surgeons. (These 2 other surgeons just happen to be who they coordinate for.) So, with a little more research I was able to find out that Dr. Garcia was indeed available and I used a different coordinator and company. You can message me if you want any additional info. I can only speak to my experience, but I genuinely felt as though there was an agenda to try to get me to schedule surgery with whatever Dr. they coordinate for. I have no qualms with businesses trying to receive and retain business or recommend certain doctors, but not through dishonesty about other doctors. Just be cautious and keep researching until you are completely satisfied with your decision. -

December Mexico Sleevers
wndrfullife replied to mgrn13's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm in So. Calif. so I'm driving to the airport. Couldn't really be much easier for me. How are your nerves? Some days I feel like it couldn't come quick enough and other days I get caught up in the "what if's" and "worst case scenario" and start worrying. It has helped to read some of the success stories though, it gets my mind back to the place it needs to be. -

Me too! It really helps calm my nerves to know someone else will be going through this journey the same day. Are you going it alone? I'll have my hubby with me, but would love to coordinate with you for this journey. -
