crushing medications
OneWritersSoul replied to w2ben's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my surgeon no aspirin, ibuprofen or other NSAIDS ever. Too many risks. As for swallowing pills, as soon as the swelling was down one week after the surgery. Good luck to you! -
Where Are All The Short Vsg Girls?
OneWritersSoul replied to sandygo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm following you there -
I was an ugly fat girl so I have completely accepted the fact that I will be an ugly regular sized person. I say regular sized because I'm Hispanic and big-boned so thin isn't even in my vocabulary. I'm a realist!

Should I Be Able To Do This?
OneWritersSoul replied to spieldose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heya Spieldose! Good to see you here from IG! I've not been brave enough to try anything like that. But please proceed with caution! I don't want to see anything happen to you now that you've come so far! -

Hip Pain After Vsg
OneWritersSoul replied to krenzema's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks out and I have this issue as well. I've been walking a mile practically every day, but I have the hip pain when I'm not walking and after sitting for long periods of time. I'm not sure why this is but it's an issue just the same. -
Challenge: New Year's Day 2013
OneWritersSoul replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in! (Hopefully I do this correctly!) Highest weight: 489lbs Day of Surgery: 385lbs (10/25/2012) Current Weight: 345lbs (3wks post-op) New Years Goal: 325lbs (Okay, so typing the numbers out was extremely humiliating- so much so that I cried. Am I alone in how ashamed I am? This is an awful feeling- especially when so many others are so very small in comparison! It feels hopeless!) -
October Sleevers-How Ya Doin?
OneWritersSoul replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just home from my PCP appointment. Today I'm at exactly 3 weeks post-op and my total weight loss (w/ clothes & shoes on) is 40lbs from surgery day. Good news, I think? Bad news is I'm not getting enough Protein in. Nausea is still an issue so the doctor prescribed Zofran. Protein shakes make me ill so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them! (Still in the puréed phase for one more week.) I hope everyone is doing well! -
Challenge: New Year's Day 2013

I'm only 3 weeks post-op but I'd like to participate. Is it possible? If so, what do I need to do? -
Any variation of husband is horrible ie. hubby, hubs, hubster, etc. -cringe- My husband and I use terms of endearment for one another but not in public. We have names and that's what we go by. If I'm referring to him while writing, then it depends on the circumstances. Only once did I ever refer to him as "my Beloved" and that was for an article written about romance. Every other time, he is my husband. Oh and if he ever referred to me as his "Old Lady" then he'd never refer to anything ever again! (Though we do give one another a hard time ALL the time and he calls me Wench and I call him Wastard)

I Thought These Would Go Away....
OneWritersSoul replied to PerfectlyImperfect's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so envious! I lost 100lbs before surgery and I noticed it most in my breasts and butt. Since my surgery on 10/25 it seems that the 35lbs had been all breast! So very frustrating! -
New Topic Suggestion.....
OneWritersSoul replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been using MyFitnessPal to keep a record of everything I'm eating and drinking. Instead of searching for things in their database though, I actually use the SCAN option and scan the UPC codes which automatically adds everything to my daily log. For me it has been perfect! The only thing I don't like about MFP is the message I get after I'm finished logging for the day. It tells me that I'm eating too few calories and if I don't eat more then my body will go into starvation mode. No idea what I'm supposed to aim for as far as calorie intake at just about 3 weeks post-op but the message is frustrating. -
October Sleevers-How Ya Doin?
OneWritersSoul replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm new to this site and just had my surgery on 10/25. The nausea was horrible at first and I couldn't keep any liquids in, so I ended up staying in the hospital a bit longer. My Phase I was Clear Liquids for one week. Phase 2 was full liquids for one week. Now, I'm supposed to be doing Phase 3, which is pureed foods, but it's been challenging. Since surgery things that I perceive as sweet make me extremely nauseous, so I have been avoiding them- witht he exception of diluted Diet/Light juices. Yogurt and puddings (sugar-free, fat-free) still make me ill, as do the recommended eggs. So, I'm trying cottage cheese, fat-free vegetarian refried Beans, and applesauce. I'm a vegetarian but compromised with my surgeon and agreed to add fish/seafood until I am taking enough Protein in on my own. So far I am down 35+ pounds since the day of surgery- according to my scale. I don't have another follow-up with my surgeon until the end of November, so I will have to wait to see what that scale says. It's a stressful thing not seeing the number go down though. I mean, with as little as I'm taking in but as much as I am doing, it just feels like I'm lagging behind others. {I'm not allowed to return to my exercise routine until after my one month follow-up, so all I'm doing is walking every day, as much as I can.} Does anyone else get frustrated? The plus side is I'm feeling better every day. I'm off most of my medications save for Topamax and Omeprazole. The hunger isn't there, at all. I'm forcing myself to eat and drink because I know I have to, but the desire is gone- thank goodness! I hope everyone else is doing well!
