Tomorrow i'm three months out
Kelsan replied to michelle38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on a great loss! Thanks for sharing your story, and I wish you much continued success! -
My mother had the Rxy WLS and she was experiencing the dumping syndrome. She feels flu sick if she eats sugar. So when I started researching the different types of surgery, I chose the sleeve because it is only restrictive and it does not rearrange my intestines. I was sleeved six days ago, and I'm not going to lie to you, the first few days were really hard for me, but each day gets better and better. Ultimately it's only a decision you can make. I wish you all the luck in the world!!

smaller the average sleeve?
Kelsan replied to ShrinkingBiker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds normal to me too. I would still measure my food and do not try and over eat your sleeve or push it though. -
I would give anything to be able to eat ANYTHING!

That's so sad. Man that has to be difficult both emotionally and physical. I'm in the clear liquid stage of my diet, but I can add Unjury Unflavored protein powder to beef broth. It has the same consistency as plain water. Do you think you could do anything like that and keep it down? That way you'd be getting in some protein. Good luck honey, I feel terrible for you! -
7th day still in hospital

Kelsan replied to Natalya Couture's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Well, you look lovely and you should be very proud of yourself! -
Oh, I'm sorry you're not feeling very good. I can understand how you'd feel this way though, but I'm only three days out - but it has been a challenging three days I hope we both look back on this time and are able to say (like most others) how we're so happy we had it done and the only regret is not doing it sooner. Can you talk to your nutritionist/or doctor about your pain when eating and discuss options?

3 days post op and not feeling full?
Kelsan replied to laceeb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved May 6 also. I'm scared to have a full feeling. I'm just trying to drink enough and get some protein in as well. I feel like I have a very gassy/bloated tummy though. -
Go with what you originally wanted. Call your insurance company yourself and tell them your situation speak to a "higher up" to save time and explaining the situation more than you need to.
-
I use Opurity (people who make Unjury protein powder). It's a one a day thing. I also take a calcium.
-
So sorry you're not feeling well. Keep us posted on what's going on.

Worried I'm eating too much : (
Kelsan replied to lahoffman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still in the clear liquid stage and trying to deal with air bubbles, I can't imagine eating a banana in a few days, yikes. Hope everything goes well with this learning curve. -
So nice.

7 wk post op...approved for real food but can't eat.
Kelsan replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for posting the topic. It's something I've been curious about too! Good luck. -
When did you have your surgery? I'm three days post-op and have low energy, but I try hard to get protein (isopure) and drink enough. That's about all I can do for now.

Suddenly able to stick to a diet?
Kelsan replied to Linkin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my surgery on Monday at noon. I'm getting very, very nervous for the first time. I'm actually on-line searching for reasons not to do this! I have a bad case of the jitters with a side of cold feet. On to your question;I'm curious about the diet part too also I'm wondering how many people have to take ant-acids after their surgery. So sorry for hijacking. -
So with all this talk of cheating on your pre-op, I have a confession.
Kelsan replied to LipstickLady's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
i think you'll do great! -

Kelsan replied to tlah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what ya mean. I just try and show the Grinch's of the world a little love in hopes that they can pay it forward. It's my inner pollyanna/tree hugger comming out, either that or i'm actually starving from this pre-op liquid diet!!! -

Are we ready for a group hug yet? -
i know the particlular situation(s) the Op is talking about, and I agree. we can all have an opinion without being indignant or rude. Tough love is one thing, nasty, is another.

My pre-op liquid diet was really difficult for me, but each day got a little easier and a little easier. Which I think will lend itself well for the "after" way of eating. This whole experience is a process and with anything else in life, we learn as we go. I think it was Maya Angelou who said "When you know better, you do better." I'm certainly doing better, even if it's baby steps.
