Just A Little Worried..
suzthebrit replied to connie3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have this surgery with a cold but I had shoulder surgery with a horrible cold. Recovery was not fun but you'll be resting anyway so you'll be ok. Good luck. -
Worried About Lack Of Restriction
suzthebrit replied to ksgirlmomof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would just be happy that you were fortunate to have no issues. You won't feel any restriction with the liquids. They go right through. Now, when you get to soft foods you will notice it then! -
Endoscope Scheduled For Next Week
suzthebrit replied to terri1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I can't give you any words of advice as I've not had the balloon procedure but I'm sure that your doctor knows what he's doing and will do all he can to make things better for you. I hope it all works out for you and you are feeling tip top soon. Good luck. -
Ok, so I'm 17 days post-op and I feel like I'm pregnant (and there is no chance I am!) I wake up every morning with a feeling like something is stuck in my throat, and I feel so nauseaous. The first thing I do when I wake up is take my PPI with a sip of water and every morning I think it's coming back up! Does anybody have any advice? Maybe I need to sleep in a recliner for a while?

This is normal if you are not getting enough protein in your diet. You need to make sure you are getting at least 70g of protein per day. I was also told to take Biotin to help with this problem. My doctors assistant actually said to me that she didn't want to hear from me if my hair was falling out because it just means you're not getting enough protein.

Jessielynn, you should be eating every two hours so you shouldn't be hungry. Eat something if you're hungry. The two tablespoons you eat are not going to make any difference to your weight loss but they are going to make the journey a lot more enjoyable. Make sure you get all your protein.

3 B Question! Bra, Bananna, And Bad Breath!
suzthebrit replied to MrsM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tums refreshers are the best! They are really minty so they help with bad breath, they help with nausea and they help with gas and reflux. They are all around pretty good! -
There's The Stress!
suzthebrit replied to mezanne1401's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mezanne, I am so sorry for your loss. Even knowing its coming does not make it any easier. I am so glad you could figure something out with the airlines and that you will all be able to go to say final goodbyes. Congratulations on coming here to post instead of stuffing bad stuff in your mouth! Imagine how much worse you'd be feeling now if you had overdone it! Sad, over full and guilty. Good for you. Take care of yourself, your mom and your grandmom. Nothing is more important than family! -

How Did You Deal With The Fear Of Being Put To Sleep?
suzthebrit replied to Sexiipisces77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being put to sleep is scary for anybody. You are not in control and that is a scary thing. I do have to say though that anesthesiologists have had numerous years of training and know what they are doing to keep you safe. You won't even know you went to sleep when you wake up! Don't let this fear deter you from this decision that will change your whole life. Think about how many surgeries happen everyday and the percentage of problems. It very very low, something like 0.01%. -
I did 3 days of clear liquids. My BMI was 35.6 so was told only needed 3 days.

I was sleeved 11/8 and I totally know how you are feeling! It is soooo frustrating not to get a bowl full of food and eat it. Everyday I tell myself this is just temporary and I will live through this so I can live a more healthy and happy life in the long run. Just get through one day at a time and retry soon you'll be saying to yourself, 'ooh I am so glad I can eat this'!

19Days Post-Op And Stalled
suzthebrit replied to NisaletOAM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PUT THE SCALE AWAY!!! It is not healthy to weigh yourself everyday! Stressing about not changing your weight in 4 days is going to lead you down a path of destruction. 4 days is not a stall, it's a normal daily fluctuation in weight. -
Dealing With Stress Without Eating?!?!
suzthebrit replied to mezanne1401's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awww good. I'm so glad I could help! That should take off some of the stress. No matter what happens YOU are the most important thing, and only you can take care of you! -
Dealing With Stress Without Eating?!?!
suzthebrit replied to mezanne1401's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok I'm sorry again. However death certs are public records and can be obtained by anybody. Did you call the airlines and see if there is anything they can do? Please take it easy. You can get through this. -

Congratulations but not for nothing you've lost 63lbs!!!! Every pound counts LOL! 262-199=63! Awesome job! Can't wait until I'm 4 months out. I'm only 2 weeks out and I keep having to remind myself this is a marathon, not a sprint! -
Dealing With Stress Without Eating?!?!
suzthebrit replied to mezanne1401's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you show the airlines the death certificate and prove you were flying last minute for a funeral they should lower the cost of the ticket to the lowest fare available ever for that flight. Check with your airline for their policy. I am so sorry you are going through this but you can do it without food! Go for a walk, sit in the tub, take a good long nap, or read a book. Good luck. -
Dumping On Thanksgiving, No Bueno
suzthebrit replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no, dumping is the absolute worst feeling ever. I used to get it before I had surgery and it is totally awful! What a terrible way to end your holiday! You can eat at Christmas, just remember this experience and measure your food onto your own baby plate. Then you don't risk this again! Hope you feel better today. Mine always lasted over night. -

Unable To Eat.... Help
suzthebrit replied to shellbell125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, just because your doctor, or your paperwork says you can start mushies does not mean that your sleeve is ready to. Stop the puréed/mushies and go back to full liquids for a few days. Get yourself back to hydrated and energized with Protein and then try mushies again. Try slowly though. One meal a day of mushies and the rest full liquids until you can tolerate the mushies better. -
Yes it was about two cups but it took me about 2 1/2 hours to drink it all but it was soooooo good!

Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..
suzthebrit replied to steelergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey to you M! I'm still a little sore too. Only if I bend down too fast or sit in a weird position. The first protein shake of the day makes me feel a little nauseous. I have been tolerating lots of soups and smoothies but when I tried puréed yesterday it didn't go so well. The texture seemed to bother me more than anything! Back to soups today. -
Just keep trying lux. 40oz is better than nothing and if you are not vomiting that you are probably not at risk of dehydration. Just keep an eye on yourself, which I'm sure you are. Good luck!

Solid Food And Pain
suzthebrit replied to shabbychicprincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The slimes are what happens when you eat too much, to quickly, or something your body just can't handle. Basically your mouth will produce a ton of saliva (just like it does right before you vomit) and this will go on for a while. Some people do throw up but it's only the clear saliva. You will feel like you've swallowed a Rick and that it is sitting right below your neck. I had this one night and I never want to get it again! I have started taking Prilosec and that is really helping with that stuck feeling. Scale it back, go back to basics (full liquids) for a couple of days to get over the pizza and then start slowly adding new foods in again but make sure they are high protein, low carb options. -
I made the best smoothie last night and it had 30+ grams of protein! 1/2 cup vanilla Greek Yogurt 1/2 cup FF milk 1 cup of frozen Dole pineapple, Mango pieces 1 scoop of Protein powder (vanilla flavored) 1 package sweet n low Throw all in a blender and blend on high for 1 minute. Add more milk if you like a runnier smoothie. It was so delicious and a great way to get that awful Protein Powder down.
