  1. Hello. Thank you so much for trusting my team and for being such an angel to us. As we all know unfortunately as surgeons we will ALL have a complication in our career. But I can assure you that my teams rate of complication is the same as the best surgeons in the world. We did have a complication but it was not related to Bariatric surgery, as you probably know i'm also a general surgeon and perform hundreds of surgery per month other than bariatric surgery. We always work in the safest environment , with the greatest care for our patient because we see our patients as Human beings not as numbers. You know us and i'm sure you know what I mean. Unfortunately their will always be "Envy" and "dirty competition" from people that see other people as "money" ; their is a particular company that is doing this to my team which is "A lighter me", they are writing very unprofessional comments about me and my team because as you stated above they are trying to take patients that are asking for my services to take them to their doctors and get a profit. Their are several great doctors in Mexico, but it is not right to try to tarnish my "name" which has cost us hundreds of happy patient's trust, hour of hard work, etc. I worked for "A lighter me" and have asked them to stop sending me patients because they had some internal issues, I guess that's what upset them and well, you know what they are capable of doing. I'm still working with them as today just because I have several patient that scheduled a surgery long ahead of time and to me their trust is worth having to put up with all the low blows that this company is giving to me. So thank you so much Suzy for your sense of justice, for trying to protect us, but as you know sooner or later the truth will always come out, and then will see who wins. We appreciate your trust and I can assure you we will keep doing the BEST we can as ALWAYS because surgery is OUR PASSION but our patients are OUR LIVES. Thank yo again and keep in touch please! Adios Amiga!
  2. Mine was 8 days from surgery and when it happened, boy did it happen! Just stay near a toilet for the next few days. I was all the way on the wrong side of Target when the urge hit me!
  3. I was given a liquid similar to Maalox when I came out of the hospital and was told to take it every 8 hours. It was really helpful in the beginning with the gas pains. I take it everyday now to stop the pain I get when I drink water!
  4. I was sleeved Nov 7th and am feeling pretty good. I get tired easily and feel a little weak due to the lack of nutrition. I am switching between soft foods and puréed foods and am tolerating everything pretty well. I have started getting heartburn so just got Prilosec today. I am feeling great and very positive! I am loving my new life. Went out to Panera bread today with my hubby and son. I got a sample of blackbean soup and that was enough for me. Even the hubby couldn't believe it.
  5. If you can get MOM down without throwing up go for that. That should do the trick for you.

Lol Iggy! You can fly to the uk but you won't find me there! I have been living in Philadelphia for over 19 years. Picked up the nickname then and it's stuck around. Oh and rain has to be right in England because you don't get much of anything else!!! :-) You can knock me up anytime Iggy!!!

5 Month Post Op Check Today

You've done so well! Don't ruin it by drinking Diet Coke (and this is coming from a previous addict). It is proven that DC makes you more hungry and wreaks havoc with your insides. It will also stretch your sleeve and I'm sure you don't want that to happen! Keep doing what you're doing, obviously you are doing something right.

Oh Lux, I'm sorry to hear that but I am so glad that you now know what is going on. Rest up and stick to the clear liquids. I hope you'll be right as rain soon.

    Incision Popped

How dotty mean popped? Like opened? At 4 weeks out that sounds bizarre! I'm not even two weeks out and my smaller incisions are healed, only my drain hole is still open. I would call your doctor as I would think that is not normal!
  11. I am seeing a lot of recipes and ideas for eating and then just keep thinking "but I'm only going to be able to eat four or five bites of it!". How do you store your leftovers? Is a foodsaver vacuum sealer a good idea for this?

    Nov 14 Sleevers?

The gas pains are the worst at night! I didn't suffer too badly this time but when I had my appendix out 11 years ago had to sleep sitting up for about a week. Walk, walk, walk. It really does help. Also, get a heating pad to lay on or put on your tummy. It helped me a ton this time around. Take it easy. I'm only 9 days post op and am feeling pretty good. The first two days I was seriously questioning my decision.

Well said Iggy!!! I couldn't agree with you more that if your story scares somebody then they are not ready to have the surgery. Bad things can and do happen! Just because they didn't happen to us doesn't mean they don't happen. This is where compassion comes into play. Congratulations to ASleeve for having uncomplicated surgery (if she did indeed have surgery) but that does not take away from the fact that more than a few people will have complications from the surgery. It's them we should support more than the ones saying"oh, the gas pain is so bad!".

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

I was sleeved 11/7. I've had a ton of tomato soup and I love it. Another of my favorites is the Creamy Chicken Noodle soup. I made it with a can of milk, cooked it all and then threw it all in the blender. It turned into a liquid and OMG it was soooooo yummy!!! I also just had rice pudding and that was good too. It all goes down pretty easily. My issue is with plain old water. No matter what I do I feel like I've swallowed a balloon full of air! I bought Kellogg's Breakfast To Go in Strawberry milkshake flavor and it tastes just like strawberry milk. Only 10g of protein but yummy enough that I can drink a couple a day.

    Patch For Nausea?

Not all nausea is caused by the anesthesia with this surgery though so an anti nausea anything might not help. I was vomiting for the first 12 hours post surgery and the doctor told me it was completely normal as your stomach and esophagus are swollen. When the sides of either one touch (from swelling) you will vomit as your body sees it as a blockage and gets rid of anything that might be trying to get through. Anti nausea meds will not help that. Good luck to you all who choose this journey.
  17. The rooms are private but I ended up with a roommate because I traveled alone and they practically begged me to let her in! I believe if I'd said no they would have figured something else out but I didn't care. I was leaving the next day and slept pretty much the whole time anyway

This is where I take my leave. So sad there are people with no compassion or respect for others. Lux531 I hope you feel better soon and this all turns out just to be one bump (if not a huge bump) in the road along your journey to weight loss and health.

I'm not sure what would make you say that. This person is obviously having a tough time. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all! Have you had the surgery? If not, you have no right to comment. If you have, think yourself lucky that you didn't have these complications! You're one of the reasons I hate people!
  20. I went through successfullyslimmer.com who led me to Ready 4 A Change. They were amazing and so was Dr. Garcia and his team.

Just a thought. Have you tried any non milk based proteins? You may be lactose intolerant since the surgery and that could be causing the issues. Also, I have found that most of the high protein stuff tastes awful! Just do what you can to get it down. Sip, sip, sip. Good luck.
  22. I have personally had surgery with Dr. Garcia and i have emailed him himself to ask if this information is true. I'll let you all know if I get an answer. He's never ever had a leak, can't believe he's had a fatality and if he has its because of extenuating circumstances, like the girl who got surgery the same day as me who had done no pre-op and lied to the doctors telling them she'd been fasting when she hasn't!

    Dr. Fernando Garcia

I went with Dr. Garcia. He was fantastic! Rosie and Mellie are both amazing. Samuel the driver lives by his own schedule but is very very pleasant. I was in MX alone and they made me feel great and spent time sitting with me and answering all my questions. I would recommend Ready 4 A Change and Dr. Garcia to anybody.
