Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..
Vidalia replied to steelergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could not bear the Protein Elixer either, Jenniferhm. It was so bad I do not see how it could be for human consumption. I thought if I had to depend on that I would end up back in the hospital. But I moved on to the shakes and they are much more tolerable. I also just ordered a sample kit from Unjury that includes a few packs of all their flavors. I am looking forward to trying them. -

I know what you mean about the chewing and I am only 4 days out. I do remember the dietician saying we would have to stay away from celery for a long time because all the fibrous strands are very hard to digest. I love celery so I hope we can it some day. I have been mixing my protein shakes in blender with ice, so I can crunch the ice. It is helping. -

I was sleeved on the 9th. I am doing okay. The incisions are feeling much better. I walked for about 15 minutes today...felt good to be out. Hardest part is getting in the shakes. I have tolerated 2 today barely. I have found I can eat them better if I blend them with milk and ice chips. I also ate some very thin instant mashed potatoes today..about 2oz. They were delicious. -
My surgeon told me it would be a good idea to take some over the counter Prilosec for reflux and that it would help the swelling in my stomach go down. I went to get some but all I could find were capsules. Is it okay to take a capsule 4 days post-op?

Incision Discomfort And Sleep
Vidalia replied to evonnrae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days post-op also. I have weaned myself off my pain meds...except at bedtime. My doctor told me to take them and not let the pain get ahead. He said, "That is why I wrote you a prescription." The pain med makes me very drowsy and I fall fast asleep. So, I am taking my pain meds at bedtime and have not had any problems sleeping. I have even been sleeping on my sides which is the way I usually sleep. I know I need rest and sleep to heal so I make sure I am comfortable at bedtime. Good luck and congratulations on your surgery! -
My surgery was November 9th and I still have not had a bowel movement. I drank two 8 oz. protein shakes today and a little yogurt. Is this normal not to have a bowel movement by now?

Sleeved Two Days Ago And.....
Vidalia replied to Sharonisshrinking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 2 days ago also! I tried my first protein shake this morning and it took me 1 1/2 hours to eat it. I would eat a tiny spoonful and wait a while. I could feel it going down. My insides were gurgling and rumbling and had some little crampy pains with each bite...not unbearable pain, but uncomfortable feeling. Hope this will get better and better. -
Vsg And Hernia Repair At The Same Time...
Vidalia replied to mom2five's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just sleeved on Friday and my surgeon said I had a hernia that he repaired while he was in there. He said about 80% of his patients have hernias that he fixes while he is doing the sleeve. He acted like it was no big deal. I am up walking up and down the driveway today and feeling pretty good. Hope this helps. -
I was sleeved 2 days ago. I got home from hospital yesterday. This morning I started with my first protein shake. I am sitting here trying to get it down a tiny spoonful at a time. I hear lots of gurgling and some discomfort. I just want to know if this is normal and will it get better?
