Five months - 90 pounds gone forever!
Butlersh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a photo from 2008 and this was me on Friday. I am around 280 pounds at 6'0 tall - not sure how low I'm going but I'd like to get to around 220 and then address the extra skin. I feel great, and for the first time in a very long time I feel like I look great! Just thought I'd share! -

How long did it take?
Butlersh replied to petra1124's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 14 weeks out. I went back to work at 2 weeks, but it was probably 8-9 weeks before I had the hang of eating, etc. I still occasionally get Dizzy from time to time. -
I got nothing, except, if your multi had b-12?in it, then take your b-12 supplement seperate. Your body can only absorb so much at once and if you go way over its basically a wasted supplement. I do my multi in the am and my b-12 in the evenings.

Down 65 pounds at 12 weeks post op
-
I recently just went thru an 11 day bout of this. The hierarchy my doc suggested was the following. Do each as needed. So if 1. Didn't work, move to 2, etc. 1. One dose of milk of magnesia 2. Add miralax up to twice a day 3. Fleets enema with the miralax 4. Magnesium citrate, followed by 8 oz Water with the miralax. I also tried suppositories, fruit juice, prunes, Probiotics, flax. After I finally went, I'm taking chia seeds and miralax Dailey to try and prevent it from happening again.

Has anyone had a irregular period before surgery and now after the surgery you're period doesnt seem to stop?
Butlersh replied to blkdiamond377's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Estrogen is stored in our fat cells. Rapid weight loss releases estrogen and thus the irregular periods. -
5 weeks post-op with nausea
Butlersh replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful with the zofran - it stops things coming up, and going out, if you know what I mean! -
Nausea and being tired -- 3 weeks post op
Butlersh replied to toodabarn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that around three weeks. It's much better now, at 8 weeks. Weeks 3-6 were pretty rough, with the nausea and lack of appetite. Hang in there ! -
See, granted I'm only 8 weeks out so I'm hoping it gets better, but I basically have no appetite now and eat because I have too. Not necessarily a bad thing, but to me a meal is not enjoyable. I'm hoping its just the stage I'm in at this point. Figuring out how much and how slow to eat is also tricky for me.

Seat belt extender for airplane?
Butlersh replied to kputman09's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When you get on the plane the attendant typically greets you , just say I need an extender. They are usually discreet about it. No big deal -
The best that I have found is the old navy yoga capris! A 2x fit me at my biggest, 350+. They are still my favorites.

Do I really need to go to the ER...?
Butlersh replied to Keepgoing247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should head in - fever and the pus are not common symptoms. Get some Gatorade, g2. It has been a life saver for me when I couldn't drink anything else. How old is the baby? I've been lucky and able to continue nursing my baby through surgery, but he just turned 1 so he is not exclusively breastfed. -

Six weeks, 46 pounds gone!
Butlersh replied to Butlersh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
36 since surgery - the other 10 during 2 week pre op. -
No lifting restrictions was backing caring for my 10 month old alone by day 6. It actually helped get things back to normal and get me moving freely again. Good luck!

I am almost 5 weeks out and anything I eat causes discomfort. The only thing that goes down ok and stays down ok is crackers. I am not sure if I am eating too much, too fast or what. My sleeve seems to be very very tiny- it would honestly suit me just fine to not eat at all, but I keep trying because I know that is how I'm going to lose the weight. Any advice??
-
Crackers are on my approved list, that being said they are my last resort food as i avoid carbs. I'm only eating a few bites of anything. 4 to 5 small bites at max and done its just that nothing I try goes down easily or sits easily - particularly dense protein (chicken, tuna, etc). I also get diarreah after most everything. It's frustrating to not be able to comfortably eat anything. I'm not barfing, but at some points I wish I was. I've tried smaller bites, chewing more, adding more moisture to things, but nothing really helps.

Great ideas! The naked burrito from qdoba and the unwhich from jimmy johns are good. I personally would love to eat salads but my sleeve can not handle them yet.
