Hi I was sleeved on the 21st also. I had a hard time with getting fluids down at first but am being more adventurous now and diversifying my liquids. My post op visit went great....down 7% in less than 2 woks which my drs goal for all patients is 10% in the first month. I still have gas issues...haven't had a BM since morning of surgery and I'm worried that my urine is way to dark the past two days....I don't see how it could be dehydration cause I drink all day and night....anyone else have this issue?

January 21 Sleevers...how's your progress so far?
Brooke333 replied to #Redy4chg.org's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine on the 21st and have been doing ok...full fluids, struggling to get all of it in with protien but its improving. Get a lot of belching when I've drank too much, but other than that no head hunger or any kind for that matter. I guess I'm too afraid to mess my sleeve up...ill go as slow as I need to. It's cost me too much to mess it up. -

Brooke333 replied to rockdutchess82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine went fine...was a bit sore in my throat for a few days after but then again everything has been going around, so it could have been a cold...I found that I had a hiatal hernia which they repaired when I got sleeved Monday! -
2 days post op, questions?
Brooke333 replied to LindsayRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 days post op and haven't had a BM at all. I get burps and hiccups but mostly hurt where the repaired a hiatal hernia not so much the incision sites. -
Hey cynic figure! Finally got sleeved! Now just to get enough fluids down to keep from being dehydrated! Lol! I hate the feeling of being so weak and tired too but I keep yelling myself its only been 3 days. I tried beef broth last night and discovered that I will never eat it again as the smell alone was a huge turn off for my stomach. However I have not been hungry even though I've been around people who were cooking some yummy smelling things! Lol

Dehydration anyone?
Brooke333 replied to dollbaby1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 3 days post op and have the same fear...I had a hiatal hernia repaired while sleeved and get hiccups a lot which hurt. I tried broth last night and the smell alone made me ill...so I've stuck to water a remade protein drink and popscicles....I think I've averaged 24 ozs a day which is not enough but each day I'm getting more and more down....I think it just takes time and we have to be cautious and patient. -
I'm pre-op also. My surgery is on Monday! To be honest I did cheat earlier but only a few times, a piece of bread here and a bite of chicken there. But nothing that would have put me over my calorie intake each day. I've lost 10lbs but 3 were just in the past Two days. I'm sure with only clear liquids sat and sun I will drop a few more and I'm on the smaller end than most people on here. I started out at 220 my highest and am 106 as of this morning. Don't worry, they do these surgeries all the time and they are more worried about your liver being smaller to make the operation easier.

I am excited..I had a rough week last week cause of financing issues and mix ups between my dr.s office and the hospital...thankfully that is all worked out now. Ive not been a big fan of the all liquid diet the past week either, but ill do what I have to do. I asked for 3 days off cause Im a nanny to an 11 yr old boy. I honeslty dont have to do a lot and he is good when I tell him im not feeling well and my employers are aware of the kind of surgery Im having...I have a high pain tolerance and have had my gallbbladder removed and other surgeries where the pain afterwards is mainly due to the gas they pump into you thats trying to escape. So How are you doing so far?

Starting to feel like its never going to happen now...
Brooke333 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So Ive been through a lot to get approval from my insurance company to get surgery....I was only told about a week ago that I needed to be able to pay 3300.00 for my deductible before surgery...this was news to me. SO I called my doctors office and they told me to apply for carecredit...which I did and got what I needed. So I went monday paid out $500 out og my pocket for the pre-op diet and vitamins after surgery. No one said a thing to me, then I call the facility where Im having surgery at that I needed to know what they needed as far as the carecredit information only to find out that they dont take it. Thus I can not have my surgery there.....I call the dr.s office and was told that they didnt know this and were trying to find another facility that will take it. I am so fearful that they will not be able to and that Ive spent thousands already out of pocket for a surgery Im not going to be able to have......just wish I could catch a break with this. -

Thanks Shaye... could care less about the drive at this point I just dont want to loose my date or anything like that...I just want the surgery! -
Well I've decided that I am going to continue to get all the liquids and protein liquids in but I need to have something substantial...I'm going to have at least 4 oz of some sort of lean meat this week then go off that before my all clear liquids the day before surgery
-
I am on day 3 of the liquid pre-op diet and I have to say it sucks! I have no energy and feel like I need to brush my teeth all the time! I was told the diet was to shrink the liver to make surgery easier.... But am not understanding why others don't need to.

Surgery scheduled for January 22
Brooke333 replied to Hopey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I have to do one day of clear fluids the day before but I wasn't told I could have fruit or even skim milk. I have soups and drinks that mix only with water which all taste mediocre so far! -

I have Dr. Justin Braverman at The New Program in Orange Co. I love him, great bedside manner and the staff there is incredible. They have made this process so easy for me! Good luck! Oh and my surgery will be at Tri-City medical center in Hawaiian Gardens in Orange County. They have courtesy transportation and everything -

Ok my fellow pre-opers....I ate the oatmeal that was given to me to pretty much eat every morning for breakfast for the next 2 weeks by my dr and I have to say it tasted like eating flour and water...it was clumpy and nasty...I could not eat more than two bites but im starving.....what is everyone else eating for breakfast?

Need Help with pre-op diet!
Brooke333 replied to Brooke333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks...I have yummy protein meal replacement shakes...ill just have to do that even though its not on the actual diet plan! -
I am also picky...I havent had surgery yet but while I hate cottage cheese and well anykind of cheese cause Im lactose intolerant...I can eat eggs with "no salt" on them and i can eat tuna and salmon out of a can if I have too...The key for me is to chew and not think about having it touch my tongue then swallowing it...this liquid diet sucks but I just mentally visualize what I want to look like a year from now and it makes it a bit more bearable!

My surgery date is the 21st of this month and cant wait! Good Luck everyone!

Brooke333 replied to Hopey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was rescheduled for the 21st so I begin my pre-op diet next monday and even though I am nervous I am more excited! I even went shopping in boxes of mine that I had in storage over the holidays that hold a bunch of clothes from my smaller days (which were a long time ago)! Im lucky that I dont have children or a job that requires a lot of lifting so my dr told me that I should be fine within a week after surgery. -
