    I Gained...

As long as you stay on course over the long run, you'll be fine. My surgery date was 9/25/2012 and I've lost about 40 pounds. I weight weekly and the only time I gained was when my friend visited and we did a food truck run where I ate a bunch of meat and sweets. After he left, I lost 3 pounds that following week.

    Where Do I Start?

Go to a free seminar of the bariatric surgeon of your choice then let your PCP know. My PCP was more than supportive. If not, then it's time to get a new PCP. If you went to a seminar today, you may get scheduled for surgery within 8 weeks so that is about the lead time to expect.

    I Wish I'd Known...

I wish I would have known about it sooner.
  4. Grazing is OK as long as you're not eating a bunch of junk. I graze constantly (9/25/2012 surgery date) and I have lost 40 pounds in that time. If you're on solids, keep fresh fruit around.

    Losing Weight Before Surgery

I had the same issue. I believe to qualify for surgery, you need to be at least 40 BMI but most insurance will cover between 30-40. I don't have information on Metformin but I was pre-diabetic before I had surgery and over the past 10 weeks, I have lost 40 pounds. If you go in for a consultation now and weigh-in, I believe your surgeon can use that weight to submit your insurance paperwork.

    6 Week Stall

I too was sleeved on 9/25 and I have been losing weight consistently. Since the surgery, I have lost 35 pounds. I try time weigh myself once a week but didn't lose anything in the past week. My exercise routine has picked up so I'm hoping it's due to muscle gain.
  7. It will get better. Keep sipping on liquids per your doctor's orders and walk walk walk. You'll regain your strength eventually. Use the pain meds your doctor prescribed as needed. It took me about 2 weeks before I didn't need them anymore.
  8. Good advice cbloulis. Stay the course per your doctor's orders. There's going to be alot of discomfort the first couple of weeks but stay on the liquid diet. Drink whatever soothes you: cold, warm, hot. Walking will help you feel better.
