Jan. 2013 Buddies! A New Year = A New Us!

Hi all! I am 1/5 with Dr. aceves ! About 18 days. I'm some excited!
  2. I called Nina at Dr. Aceves' office because I was hoping for the spinal block and this news scared me! She mentioned that some people were having issue with it (making them nauseous afterwards, issue with application, etc), but that if I wanted one, I could still have one. I would just have to say so. So it looks like they are no longer standard for Dr. A, but can be obtained.

    Any january sleevers

Since it looks like I'm the first one up, I promise to Reply to this thread when it's all done just to let you guys know that the water is fine. I'm nervous but super excited too.
  4. Hi All! I am getting sleeved on 1/5 and I have mild asthma. The only other time I had major surgery, there were some complications with the anesthesia.I woke up when I couldn't breathe and was paralyzed to the point where I could not speak to say so. I could hear the staff intubating me and came out of it fine, but recall the whole event. I'm now pretty scared about anesthesia. This isn't stopping me from moving forward with my sleeve. I've voiced this as a major concern to my doctor's team (Dr. Aceves) and I'm very comforted by the fact that I'll be speaking at length with the anesthesiologist prior to the surgery. I'm just still a little nervous. I know I won't FEEL anything, but dear Lord...I do NOT want to wake up, or worse wake up knowing I can't breath (again). Leading me, finally, to my question: has anyone here been sleeved WITH asthma? I'm sure I'll be fine, but I'd love to hear that other post-sleevers are fine and had an okay surgery experience. Thanks all!

Valdosta, you had no issues with the general anesthesia at all? That's so good to hear!

    Crushed Meds... Again

... It seems I'm the only one out there that is having to crush meds... I have to, too. Haven't done it yet, but pretty certain that crushed vicodin won't be tasty.

  9. For those of you who replied--may I ask, we're you also working out?
  10. Hi everyone! I am a 28 year old 32 BMI in So Cal. I have been considering going to Dr. Aceves, based on the many excellent reviews I've read about his experience. I have several concerns (I'm sure they are very common) regarding surg in MX. I understand that Dr. Aceves is one of the best, but I'm concerned about the concept of getting surg in MexiCali and post-op. I would love to speak to someone who has maybe had a VGS with Dr. Aceves? I see great reviews, but I'd love to speak to someone who could tell me a bit more about their experience, post-op. If I could have a chat with you, on the phone, I'd be soooo grateful! One of my major concerns is that i can't seem to find many long-term patients of Dr. Aceves, or VGS patients in general. I know that the procedure is somewhat new, but I am very concerned about the lack of long-term studies done on VGS in general. Appreciate any help! thank you!!!
