Has anyones sense of smell changed?
BethinPA replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lots of strong odors nauseated me in the beginning, but the good new is - it passed. -
Happy Birthday!! My birthday was 11 days after my surgery, and the biggest gift I got that day was - my period. I just claimed that I was entitled to a do- over, and celebrated a couple of months later on the date of my choice!

I'm a nurse also, and most nurses and doctors that I know are for it.

You could also try the unjury chicken soup flavor - you could get your protein in without a sweet taste at all

The worst is when my normal routine is disrupted. I came home from a mini vacation and went right for the bottle of dulcolax! -

Eating more than I want in order to get the proteins goal in
BethinPA replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't handle the whey protein in the beginning, so I switched to soy protein isolate, and tolerated that just fine. Now I can handle the whey again, but the soy got me over the hump! I got herbalife Protein Shakes on ebay. They are tasty! -
3 years after VSG I need a total knee replacement
BethinPA replied to trish4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is amazing! I had no idea anyone was doing this - thank you for sharing! I disagree about doing them both at once, though. It was the best way to go for me - I couldn't "lean" on one knee while the other knee was healing, so I had to improve my gait and habits 100% from the get-go. And I only had to deal with the pain and recuperation once. -
I think it is a pretty dress and could be really flattering on your shrinking figure! Way prettier than some dresses that I've had to wear in weddings!

In my evaluation she seemed more concerned about whether or not I was a binge eater, had a history of eating disorders and if I ever wake up in the middle of the night to eat. It seemed to be more centered around whether or not I manage stressful situations with food/ eating.

I've just started, and I'm trying to hold myself back since I still have plenty of weight to lose. But I can't wipe the grin off of my face every time I buy something that is not plus sized!

They probably didn't understand! But, in their defense, they probably meet women every day who swear they are going to drop a dress size, and don't. I also think you made the right decision. It will be fun proving them wrong when you go to pick the dress up!

is anyone not hungry after having gastric sleeve surgery
BethinPA replied to monicaleigh125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I occasionally get what I thought was hunger, but really my body was signaling that I needed to drink more fluids. -
I tried them all, and Miralax was the most gentle and gave consistent results. Good luck.

BethinPA replied to allthatjazz4u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And 35 people liked the original post! I think the OP stated an idea, and it was not discouraging to those who are newly sleeved in any way. -
You are so not alone in this! Drives me crazy!

I agree - I have never had my choice of anesthesiologists - they work on a schedule, and you get who you get, unfortunately. -

You had the knee done twice - thats awful! How did you know that the knee needed to be revised? And what was it like the second time around? -

3 years after VSG I need a total knee replacement
BethinPA replied to trish4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my knees replaced 4 years ago at age 42, so I was pretty young for the surgery. Be prepared to have no appetite afterwards, which is totally normal. I am not sure how much, but I did lose a fair amount of weight post op, but unfortunately gained it back over time (pre VSG). I thought it was a very tough surgery, to be honest, but worth it -
Question for those with Hypothyroidism who have been sleeved for a little while...
BethinPA replied to Ima Loser's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been hypothyroid for probably a decade, but my thyroid has been on a roller coaster since March, and I definitely think it has slowed down my weight loss. I haven't taken any medication since April, and currently my endo just wants to watch and wait. She thinks eventually I will level off and be euthyroid, but I'm not so sure. Meanwhile, I am so, so tired! So, I try to consistently exercise and sleep more when I can.
