  1. I guess I lost 2 - 3 lbs per month on average, but it feels agonizingly slow.
  2. I really felt like my weight loss slowed to nothing after 6 months but now that I'm almost a year out and I compare pictures of myself from then I can see that I was still losing inches and things were shifting around. I am not to goal yet, but I'm not giving up!

    Oh, do please shut up!

Oh come on! This is the rants and raves section of VST - this is the appropriate place to rant a bit. How long have you been reading VST? Because if it has been a while (it has been a year for me), you start to see some annoying themes. So when you see someone post their pictures in multiple threads to maximize the amount of people patting them on their back, and they do this multiple times, doesn't that make you say....hmmmm....?

    Spanx

Good to know - thanks for sharing! I will try this. Anything that helps the girls is a two-fer!

What do you watch on Netflix?

Pick a show, and one of us will tell you what it is about. How about Homeland? That would appeal to both sexes. It is about a woman who is the point person for the CIA's division for a certain terrorist group, and she falls in love with an American convert to this terrorist group. Of course there are lots more characters, and you get into their lives, but there is enough material there for a guy to like also.

    NSV

I bought myself a little something to celebrate losing 100 pounds today! I figure each time I look down at my wrist, I will be reminded of my accomplishment. I am so proud of me!

  9. I remember how depressed and lost I felt! I knew I couldn't go back, so I resolved to try my best and to make the best of it for 6 months, and then I would figure something out from there. It turns out I didn't need 6 months to adjust and realize vsg was the best thing for me. So I would advise to just keep putting one foot in front of the other for now - things will come together in their own time. It really does get much, much better!

    blood donations?

It never occurred to me that I couldn't, and I donated about 3 months after surgery, no problems.

    Best and worst "compliments"

I've been complimented on my hair when I had done nothing to it, been told I look much better without my glasses when I don't wear glasses...people can't always put their finger on what has changed. A male nursing assistant on my unit complimented me on my weight loss but warned me to not lose too much because "a dog won't chase a bone if there's no meat on it". Uh...ok.

Something interesting about all the profile pics

Mine was taken on July 4th of this year, while we were on the beach, waiting for the fireworks to start. I liked it (despite the sunglasses nose burn), so I used it. No way am I ready to post the full body angle types yet!

    Too tight? too short?

I think it looks great! I worry about the fit of my clothes too, and tend to wear things too large for me. I'm making a conscious effort to change that, and I'm glad you are too!

    Meal ideas

  16. I am just starting to date post-sleeve, and this is something that I am grappling with as well. I see a picture of a guy with washboard abs and think "there is no way I'm keeping up with that!". Or, I see a picture of a guy with a buddha belly and think thats going to be a problem as well. I don't have any answers, I can just commisurate that I'm starting to deal with the same questions.

    selfie update

That gym ad really looks like false advertising
  18. I do exactly what Tess does. My family teases me about my need for "moist meat", but it really does make a difference! It also gets easier to eat dryer foods the further out you get from the surgery.

    At the beach

I know exactly what you mean, because I felt the same way last summer. I look at pictures of me from last summer and I can't believe how far I have come! You will be saying the same thing next summer - have faith!
