    Where are the November Sleevers?

Hey! How is everyone doing on their pre op diets? I'm doing well! I'm on day 9 already and it's going good! The first 3 days were the worst ever... I seriously could have eaten my own arm! But that has passed, but I'm feeling tired but not starving or anything. I must say I am so proud of myself because I haven't cheated once, not one little bite while making dinner for the family-nothing! And honestly I don't want to. I am totally committed to this process, and I dont want to jeopardize my health anymore. My surgeon put me on this (IMO) crazy preop diet for a reason and if this will help me to not have complications I will do exactly what I'm told. I am getting so excited!!! Only 19 days away!!!! I hope everyone is hanging in there! We can do this! Sheena :-)

    Motivational changes early on

We have all had those moments for sure. But this is going to be a long haul, and once you lose weight with the sleeve it's going to pretty much be a permanent diet for life to keep it off. I read this great book called Emotional First Aid Kit: Life after Bariatric surgery. This book has really helped me put things into perspective on all different levels. And it isn't huge. For sure look into it. Good luck my friend! Sheena :-)

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

I am not sleeved yet, but I know someone who has been. She lost a bunch of weight, around 140 pounds and she walks like she's still a larger person. Like she's going to bump into things or something. I think it will take a long time to get to know our smaller selves and learn to live like a smaller person.

    Where are the November Sleevers?

Hey! At first I didn't want to tell anyone because I felt like I would be judged, and honestly I have been judged enough for one lifetime. But I told a couple close family members and friends and all I got was love and support. My hubby was a little worried at first. He isn't a fan of surgery, but after I explained how I felt about myself and situation he is 100% on board and wants me to be happy. After that I felt good about my decision to have surgery and began telling more people. Whoever I decide to tell can take it or leave it. This is MY LIFE and I want to be around long enough to live it! I'm happy that I'm getting a second chance at life because being 300 pounds isn't living. I want to do so much and feel like I can't at this size. Sorry for the ramble! Sheena :-)

2 week pre op diet starts today

So my response from my Surgical Team to have broth or juiced vegetables was "Absolutely Not! Boost Diabetic and water ONLY!" Yikes! I'm on day 3 and it's okay so far... I would just love something warm like broth or tea to cut the sweet. But this is only a small blip of time in my life, and I can do this! Good luck everyone! Sheena :-)

    Liquid diet

I started my liquid diet yesterday. So far so good. I'm a little worried because all I can have is Boost diabetic and Water for 4 weeks. I know I am going to get so sick of all the sweetness of the shakes. But I will power through. And when I'm on the other side and I can have broth and it will be like heaven! Good luck guys! We can do this, it's a small bit of time in our long life! Sheena :-)

This may sound a bit harsh...

Thank you for this! I think it is so very important to be positive and be your biggest support. I am a true believer in positive thinking! It does take practice if you have been hard on yourself for a long time, but it is worth the energy to turn that thinking around! Again, thank you so much! Sheena :-)

    How long off work?

I am getting sleeved on November 26th, although I have a desk job (Nail Technician) that time of the year is super busy for me. Being a chair renter (I have my own business) I am only taking 3 weeks off because December is where I make the most money. My Surgeon said 5 weeks but I just can't afford to take that much off. Thankfully I have amazing clients who have been so supportive and I'm sure they will bare with me through this. Good luck to everyone! Sheena :-)

    Where are the November Sleevers?

That's nice that you have support, especially family who has been through surgery already! I live in BC, Canada and in my town I haven't found a support group to go to. :-( so that's too bad! I can't wait to go through this with you guys and cheer on your success both in the scale and off! Sheena :-)

    Where are the November Sleevers?

Well tomorrow I start my FOUR week liquid diet consisting of boost diabetic and good old fashioned water. It's going to be a tough 4 weeks, but I have been waiting over 2 years for this! I am excited and scared. It's finally happening and I want it all to turn out and be as stress free as possible. Do you guys have good support at home? Sheena :-)

    Unprepared for this complication

I am so sorry for all you have gone through! I'm really hoping you can have a full recovery and start living your heathy and happy life soon! Sheena :-)
  19. This may seem like an odd question.. After being sleeved for a while can you drink Water faster? I've been noticing when I drink water that I'm a "chugger". I'm not sleeved yet and I'm scared I'll forget and hurt myself. Thanks in advance! Sheena :-)

    Juice or not?

I haven't been sleeved yet, but my son who is 2 suffers from constipation from time to time and I buy him the probiotic yogurt with prunes. It seems to help, and I don't think that is too far off plan. Good luck my friend! Sheena :-)
  22. Hey there! I have been doing a ton of research since starting my journey 2 years ago. I have read man books and have found 3 that ha e really helped me. 1) The big book of Gastric sleeve 2) WLS for Dummies 3) The Emotional First Aid kit: a practical guide to life after bariatric Surgery I recommend all of these, especially number 3! They all give different aspects to all stages of this process! What has helped you? Sheena :-)
