I know you have a huge knowledge of Protein, it's ingredients and what to stay away from. :-) Have you heard if Ideal Protein? If so what's your opinion on it and is it a good choice? Thank you so much! Sheena -

Wondering what to expect at first meeting with the Surgeon?
Dreamingofhealth posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone. I'm Canadian and live in BC. I have an appointment to meet with Dr Malik in Victoria in April. I was wondering what to expect from the first visit? Do they do any tests? Or is it just a meet and greet kinda thing? I'm asking this because I live in Kelowna and I am a homemaker and I have to budget out approx how much it will cost me depending on how long I will be there. Any help will be MUCH appreciated! Sheena :-) -

Dreamingofhealth replied to Lisa'slosinit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see that a lot if people take lunchmeat as their lunch. Are you allowed to have a piece of a cooked chicken breast instead? Or does the lunchmeat go down easier? I'm trying to learn as much as I can! :-) Sheena -
When I drop my weight, I'm going to try (insert answer)!
Dreamingofhealth replied to PetraLuxor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to take a 'sexy' dance class. I want to learn how to run, then run a marathon. I want to take 'hot yoga' and have more control of my body. I want to shop until I drop in trendy regular clothing and lingerie shops! I want to travel and be able to take in all the excursions without worrying about being too large to fit in seats/zip lines/kayaks etc. I can't wait to run and play with my kids and not get tired after 5 minutes!!! <3 -

Amount of Food and Your Mind
Dreamingofhealth posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This may seem like a strange question. I am Pre-Op and I was wondering for all my Post-Op friends, How difficult is it eating 1/4C or 2oz of food at a time when you are used to eating huge quantities? Does it take a looong time for your brain to catch up with the restriction you feel in your stomach? Also, do you miss being able to eat more? Thanks so much! -

Thank you everyone for posting. I have been researching VSG for over 7 months now and I KNOW this is the right direction I want to take my life. All of your stories and tips have really helped me secure my decision, and even though we are different people we share the same struggles. I really like the idea of making food count. Because we can only take in small amount of foods we should make sure it's nutritious and worth the "5" bites we can eat of it. That really made me think about my kids as well and what they are eating. I try to make sure they have a balanced meal, but from now on I'm going to try even harder! Thanks so much :-) -

Yeah I was wondering because I'm sure a lot of usage used to eating large quantities and I'm like, how is it going from that to a few bites without being like 'this sucks!' Or 'wow that's it?!' I'm happy to know that your brain catches up and you learn to really enjoy the food that's on your plate. And you can savor the flavors and enjoy a meal... Even if its only a few bites. -
Wow!! Good for you. I am so happy to read of someone two years out who has maintained GREAT success!! It's really inspiring :-)

5 Confessions (Join In)
Dreamingofhealth replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My confessions are PRE sleeve (I only JUST got a consult date!) So I'm sure I'll be back once this process really gets going! I confess:: 1) That I visit this forum WAY too much. One might say I am currently obsessed. 2) I'm scared that the hoops that I have to jump through to get this procedure done will be too much and I won't get sleeved. 3) I'm scared if I get sleeved I will change too much as a person (I like myself on the inside, so I hope I don't change too much) and my hubby, who I am CRAZY in love with wont like the new Me... 4) I don't want my kids remembering the obese me. I want them to know the fit healthy mom. It's important to me that I become that remodel that they so deserve! 5) I just hope that if/when I have my surgery I have a good outcome without complications. That it for now, but I'm sure I'll be back! -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Dreamingofhealth replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A few reasons why I want to do this: I want to be able to run and play with my 2 beautiful kids (4 & 1 years old) I want to be able to have an amazing time in bed with my hubby. (We have a regular kinda boring love life because I feel too large and insecure to make it fun.) I want to be able to shop in a regular store with normal prices!! (I was 13 the last time I shopped in a normal clothing store- even then I was wearing a 14+) I'm SICK of thinking about my weight all the time! I swear that's what 70% of my thoughts consist of and my brain it tired lol I don't want to die from this! I want to add years to my life so I can be around for my sweet babies :-) -
