    Head hunger

I did that in week two as well. The best thing is, if you accidentally swallow some of that, you regret it and realize that you will never want to do that again. lol-that was my experience, anyhow! But I had to do some xmas baking two weeks back and was chewing cookies and spitting them out as well. That does go away...you will get through this

    Need help-support-advice on my diet

-My fluid intake is ok. Not getting 64-probably close, around 40-50. Not vomiting, but the other end was acting up I didn't think of that-maybe? It sure feels like I am in stage one or two. I absolutely hate Liquid Protein shakes, however, have not tried the GNC one you mentioned. I will look at those today and see where my GNC is. I have bodylogix currently, and they dissolve awful. I have to whir it in the blender with a banana then let it settle because the air upset s my stomach. I was doing one every other day, but if I had a better product, I would use it more often. Good point! I made a huge pot of turkey broth with veg last night. I was able to drink a cup of broth and no issues. I seem to be very sensitive to any sort of fat, salt, garlic-especially!! and onions. I need very bland food. Is that normal? Thanks! I use MFP as well I guess I need to slow down and go back t othe basics and give myself more time to heal. Thanks for your advice! So it sounds like I am just pushing it too much, which is probably true. I take a multi-Vitamin and was taking B vitamin, however, cannot tolerate it right now. I love greek yogurt but even that feels like it gets stuck-I have had to water it down. But going back to the soft sounds like a great idea and start, and reminding myself that I need to heal and sickness probably made it worse...thanks for the help!

    My experience

Hey, how are you doing today?
  4. I am a month out and got mine a bit early and had the same issues as you for the first three days...then two days of regular menses.

When is the right time to try?

It's 12-18 months recc. by the American Obstetrics Society and that's because you don't want to concieve during rapid weight loss phase as there could be nutrition issues, low birth weight, higher risk, etc. You need to be at or close to your ideal weight and be stabilized and able to consume a reasonable amount of healthy calories a day-like 1600 or more...I know if I got preg. right now I would be dont for because I am taking in like, 500 a day a month out.
  6. I agree-toast is a bad idea! You need to hit your protein-join MFP. Getting re-sleeved won't fix this, you have to...you have to eat healthy and make the effort with the diet....it is NOT easy, we all know that!
  7. When my husband and I first started dating, I was about 40-50 pounds lighter. We tied the knot this August and my wedding pics are nice, but I I felt embarrassed being that big. I tried to diet but nothing worked. Then, a few months after the wedding, I noticed my DH having issues with staying hard during lovemaking. While he sometimes has issues with this off and on, and he swears it isn't me, deep down nothing he says really can change my mind. A part of me died the day that happened-the last time, after quite a few times of this. I jumped on that plane so fast, he didn't even have time to object. I have lost 25 pounds so far in a month and while I still have a long way to go, I am already feeling a bit more confident. I cannot wait to be the sexy, beautiful woman I feel I am on the inside-fully and completely.

  9. After five years of yo-yo dieting and many failed attempts at getting healthy, I decided to fly to Mexico to get the sleeve done. I am from Canada, and the waiting list is almost 2 years. Also, I am "just" very obese and not morbidly, and had no other pre-existing health conditions, which push me to the back of the line when it comes to surgery. My surgery date was November 21st, 2012 of this year and my surgery was performed by Dr. Almanza. I have made a video that tells my story, but am having trouble uploading it-boooo! Please feel free to add me as a friend, or follow my progress at Tijuana, etc. Cheers!

    Feeling discouraged--sleeved Dec 3

That's a great job! Everyone loses at different paces-I call it their "weight loss endurance". In the race to goal, some stop along the way to catch a breather, some sprint out of the gate then walk the rest, some go slow and steady....we all get there eventually-stats don't lie! You WILL lose 60-80 % of your weight in the first year. Imagine even losing half of what you have to? You will be there!!!!
  11. Yikes-what a SH!storm up there ... just don't bother responding. So, how;s the diet today-what have you eaten?

    My experience

I have been worried about you since last night and unsure if you have spoken with your GP yet, but please call the office if you haven't and tell them what is going on-even though it sounds like the hospital you are at is wonderful, if you have a unique situation that needs to be handled, you need to know exactly what you are up against, and possible outcomes-and how urgent you need to get to a facility that knows how to treat you. Do you possible have internal bleeding? A leak? Have they done a ultrasound? Leak test? Anything? Just worried about you-I flew to TJ to have my surgery on my own and this is not normal, you are definitely a rare case and if you are not getting the answers you need, call your own doc or get advice from a hospital in your area-something...
  13. If you want to chew something, try cottage cheese-that helps. I totally agree with the diet plan up there...that's pretty much what I did, but stuck mostly to cotttage cheese, Protein powder mixed with a banana in Water, and no other dairy at all as I was sick (Still am). I also found in week three shrimp from a plain ol' shrimp ring were very well tolerated, chewed in small bites-these have actually become my "snacking food" until I can eat veg totally...as they are like 6 calories a shrimp and no fat, so no guilt annnnnnd some protein to boot! Its funny how quickly our snacking rewards change, eh Hang in there!

    My experience

I am so sorry to hear this...hang in there! Have you spoken with your family doctor about this as well? Maybe just to get a second opinion?

    before and after pictures

Congrats! I just added you as a friend as we are within one week of one another for surgeries but also have close to the same starting weight and same goal weight! I wish you the best of success in your journey! What are you eating so far? What's a typical day for you?
  16. Are you having any stomach or shoulder pain? I know what you are going through-I am four weeks post-op as well and have been sick for the last three. Strep throat, bronchitis and the flu...all at once! I am barely eating 400 calories a day, and that's a shake, and some scrambled egg whites, which taste incredibly rich to me. I have been to the doctor twice and am closely monitoring my symptoms as Iam sooooo afraid of getting pneumonia...it has been a TOUGH month! Try drinking mild tea instead of Water to switch it up, or flavoured water. Plain water-ugh. I also found Protein water today..its NOT cheap, but it has 10g of protein, no calories or sugar....about 8 bucks for 4 bottles. You have got to work up to consuming more because you are going to throw your body into starvation mode (like mine) and then not burn anything.
  17. I was at the doctors today talking about JUST this topic... There are some definite pors and cons to this. Pros: higher chance of fertility at a lower weight healthier pregnancy, lower risk of pre-eclampsia, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, etc Less chance of depression and weight gain issues/self-esteem etc-it is tough enough being pregnant and carrying extra weight, imagine carrying another 30-50 pounds and how you will feel? You can easily drop 30 pounds to get in a healthier weight range INSTEAD of the sleeve by joining a bootcamp/doing Jillian Michaels and following a strict diet regimen. You will have to follow a strict diet after the sleeve anyway, so it is NOT easier...you could probably do this in about 3-4 months. In reality, you will most likely lose 30-40 pounds in the same 3 months, only your TTC has to be pushed back CONS: You MUST wait 12-18 months as if you are in rapid weight loss phase, you can and will risk your health and the baby's health as you cannot take in enough calories a day and you are burning. Also, there could be issues with leaks, etc. You are at a high risk to gain the weight lost back and it would have been a waste of your time and money You do not know if you can concieve on your own and if you wait another 1-1.5 years to find out, you are then 32,33...you need to try for at least 6 months or a year Ithink (not sure) to go to a specialist, which puts you at 33-34...to have your FIRST baby. Having babies are tough on your body, and weight gain happens! My doctor said that it is riskier to have a baby overweight than to have the sleeve and get pregnant a year later> Of course, I have three little ones already and want to have my fourth...in a year If I were in your shoes, I would probably just do the diet and exercize thing, and try to make that work. Fitness is so important while you are pregnant anyway, so you are giving your body a head start, without the 6-8 week down time you will have if you get sleeved. Then, after the baby making is complete, go get your sleeve if you still need it, or maybe a mommy makeover....they offer those in Mexico for about 7K and will do up to 5 areas of your body....wooot!! Good luck with whatever you decide, it is such a personal decision and I am sending lots of baby dust your way!!!
  18. This is definitely tough but you can do this! You gotta work your sleeve. First, if you are not doing this already, start tracking your exercize and food on Myfitnesspal. It's free and easy to do. Second, how often are you eating? Do you notice you lose weight easier when you eat more small, frequent meals or ones that are farther apart? Try doing both, a week at a time, and track the results. Third, are you getting your Protein in? At least 60g if not more, especially if you are active! Fourth, are you working out? Your metabolism may be stalling and you may need a boost! I would do all of these things for a month, and if there is no change, then take your MFP diet and results to your doctor and have them refer you to a dietician and/or do further bloodwork or ultrasounds. Good luck!

Suggestions for Excercise 2 weeks post-op

I saw that Xbox came out with the Knect, Xbox and dance 2013 or something like that for 240 bucks ? That looks like a LOT of fun....One dance is a few minutes, even if you do a few of those a day, might be fun and shake up those winter blahs!
  21. partofme!

    How many calories?

@ JohnSmith, I respectfully disagree that she should be having raw fruits or veggies 3 weeks post op. The only exercize she should be doing is walking, if tolerated, until 6 weeks post-op, or cleared by a physician. Raw veggies are not advised really at all...unless in juice/pureed form until at least 6 weeks, and honestly, I am 4 weeks out and haven't intro'd a lot of veg as I am still having a hard time tolerating it. She could damage her stomach eating a raw carrot at this point, so I have read...
  22. I had that for a few weeks and it is now gone. It was like learning to swallow all over again-I was very sore. Any concerns should be discussed with a doc just to make sure-but it sounds like nothing too serious...again, check with the doc if you are worried Good luck!
  23. partofme!

    How many calories?

I heard it should be between 500-900 calories, depending on you! The most important thing is to get over 60g of protein in a day, and your water. Start there
  24. partofme!

    When can u try alcohol.

I broke the rules and tried some three weeks out. It was no fun. Got a buzz right away, got tired, woke up dehydrated. Ugh. Just have a glass of juice, honestly...alchohol is not the same.

    6 days post op

I am so sorry you are going through that!!! I wasn't hungry at all in the beginning and still forget to eat all the time. If I wasn't a mom having to make meals, I think I could go days without eating I love food...miss my favourites...like sushi!!! mmmmm...Im about 3.5 weeks out so it will get better for us I hear. Try taking some antacid..I have heard that the "hunger" can sometimes be acid reflux messing with your insides... Worth a shot. hang in there!
