I am using the bodylogix protein for women with 20 g carb and g fibre. I take this twice a day with a tsp of metameucil in it. I have not had any problems at all, other than the first week after I came home. I go pretty much every other day, sometimes daily.

3 months since surgery , 50 lbs down
partofme! replied to mrs sandy r's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jaw to the floor!!! Wow-way to go!!! Great work! -
I would honestly say avoid Fast food places-too much temptation in the beginning. Also, fast food is frozen, or soaked in salt. My brother runs a chicken chain, my boys both work in fast food and I come from a family of restaurant owners. Good ol' home cooking is best for weight loss! If you must, stick to the fresh items...like salads-thnigs that are raw. The chili's and other items have a tonne of sodium and preservatives. Preservatives are linked to causing weight gain...http://www.organicliaison.com/blog/2010/09/09/why-preservatives-additives-and-other-chemicals-cause-weight-gain/ ...and I would be soooo tempted to order "just a side" of fries! I went dining out with friends last night and ordered musself in wine sauce and passed my side of fries around the table-it was awsome-soft Protein, 7 cals a mussel and no guilt. If possible, make your own fast food at night for lunch-grill a bunch of chicken breasts and make a honey garlic dip or use a low fat dressing, and toss a big salad....I just have no willpower with fast food restaurants! Old habits die hard

9 lbs. gone in my first week. Good, bad, or average?
partofme! replied to bcorder82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is great as typically most lose about 8 pounds a month. You will lose the most in the first six months-so ride the wave of success and enjoy the reward of almost ten pounds gone!!! -
Cheated and very scared/emotional
partofme! replied to TXGIRL80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am very concerned for you, because I am not sure if you realize how serious this is. First, your stomach is still healing and does not feel the fullness possibly as it is tender. Think about it like someone punched you in the face over and over and over then tore it open, then numbed it, then punched it again-I mean, you had a part of your stomach cut off. It is probably still quite numb and tender, so you cannot trust your stomach anymore. Zero. Not for at least six weeks or more...so think of your brand new stomach as your newborn daughter. Would you give your little infant baby girl popcorn and chicken, after just being born? Hopefully not. But your stomach is just as new, tender and sensitive as hers, and you can KILL yourself doing this...even if your new stomach is ccrying for food, your head needs to tell it what it needs, not the stomach or cravings. Hey look, I am not perfect and I have fallen off the wagon a few times too, but in the first week my concern for YOU is that it is so soon in your surgery. For now, please avoid all situations and outings that involve temptation, join a support group and also call your doctor or surgeon and notify them asap of what you have eaten to be on the safe side. In the meantime, please stick to a strict liquid diet-no exceptions!!! of Protein shakes and pureed in another few weeks. If you need help with a diet please ask and I am sure people will share what worked for them. Movie theatre popcorn is nutritionally an abomination-the sleeve is a tool but without the whole toolkit in use, you might as well of just lit your money on fire. Be safe. Be smart. Take care of yourself, k? -
It is very normal, from my experience. I am so sorry you are going through this, but I did go through the sweats, heaves, and felt awful for a good week! The pain for me was also intolerable at times. I was begging for more pain meds during the night. It DOES get better--slowly, but surely, and pretty soon, you will be bouncing around and will forget this~ I blogged about my pain (link below) and you can see the progression in just a few weeks in my energy. You wil lbe there too...hang in there-this is only temporary.

A month out...How much Should I be able to eat?
partofme! replied to buttrfli1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are in a stall, there is a blogger here who posts a great link about what to do. I am stalling this week as well, just because I am introducing more variety of foods and also nibbled on a few Cookies this week! gah! Im past that and back to healthy eating-the food you eat to help break a stall is basically a ketogenic diet for five days then stick to your Protein shakes and mini meals of Protein and veg. Cut out any carbs...also, track your calories on Myfitnesspal or a similar tool-it wil lrealyl help! All the best! -
A month out...How much Should I be able to eat?
partofme! replied to buttrfli1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I read, most are doing between 300-600 calories a day-some a bit higher. This is in the form of protein powder, pureed meats, some veg, little fruit and no bread ideally. I am not a nutritionist -this is what I do typically and what I noticed most are able to do. I am about 5 weeks out now. -
OMG My Sleeved Tummy-I have to thank you so much! We got hit with a big winter storm so I was bored...so Iwent over to our local Indian grocer and stocked my pantry with goodies and made your gravy. It was so good! My daughter, who is incredibly picky and doesn't eat indian food ever (unless it is the simple recipe I posted above) wolfed it down with a big piece of naan. I ended up adding some pureed yogurt and a touch of coconut milk and then did matar paneer with the gravy. It was so flavourful-had almost a cup for lunch and having a few bites now. I froze the rest of my gravy for another time and everyone loves it! It's the real deal-tastes just like an authentic Indian restaurant's would. I even felt brave enough to drop some off to my brother, who is a bit of an Indian food snob as well and he loved it!

I need diet plan help, please!
partofme! replied to Freja's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the link up there - I am going to check that out! I completely understand the intolerance to eggs-me too! I have tried, and can do it, but it takes forever. It sounds like you are getting bored of the same food and want some variety and flavour. I also understand this and started hunting out curry recipies as they deliver nutrition, flavour, and you can make them low carb. Getting my veg in has been tough but this has definitely been the cure-slow cooking a huge mix of veg in a tasty sauce. I can eat about a quarter cup at a time, and use a cracker or two as my dip-it is delicious! You can definitely use fruit-I made yogurt parfaits for breakfast as well not too long ago! Use low fat, low sugar greek yogurt, with 2 tsp applesauce on top and a sprinkle of cinnamon and oats, almost tastes like the real deal Good luck!!!! -
?B12 Deficiency - Not well and don't know what to do.
partofme! replied to cookie2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If it is a B12 that is very easy to fix. My H suffers from this and gets monthly shots and says he feels like superman afterwards. You can take an oral and also get injections...piece of cake! Good luck with the doctor-I'd go just to be on the safe side! -
Aww congrats!! I am about 5 weeks out and couldn't agree with you more. Thanks for the smile this morning!

I Dont Hear Much About Dr. Almanza Anymore........
partofme! replied to Diamondeyed's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeved by Almanza Nov 21st and I am still breathing. (rolling eyes) I have read ALLLLLLL the good bad and ugly on Almanza. I agree it comes down to heresay. A few years back, our very own Mrs Canada, or, Melanie Wildman, was sleeved by Almanza himself. She then posted negative things about him AFTER she stopped referring patients to him and switched to other Mexican doctors for - here it comes - her own surgery referral biz in Canada. While her posts seem very genuine, there was a lot of slander going on and with all she said, I am hoping she was able to back that up for her business's sake. After that, there were fake patients, real patients and everything inbetween posting stuff about him-and other doctors as well. I think it is important to look at a persons profile and history. Two posts and they all of a sudden write a flaming review? Just keep your eyes open, is all I am saying. Were there better options for me? I am sure there were...there is always better out there, right? But at the end of the day, what matters to me is that I had a safe surgery, no issues, infections, good treatment, feel good, and I am losing weight. One out of a hundred patients will have complications...more will have pneumonia..... .3 out of a hundred will have a leak. My experience personally was that I was in a van with maybe 5 other patients. He did 4, maybe 5 surgeries that day. There are only 8 beds in the hospital to recover in. There is no room for anyone else. You cannot move anyone around because there is nowhere to put them. You cannot move them to the hotel...they need the IV and such and the hotel would not allow that. Also, some people need to stay for observation for another night for vomiting, or issues, for example...the girl that stayed next to me after my surgery was vomiting and not doing well. She was there two nights. Everyone in my group had great success and we have all kept in touch and are healthy, no complications or issues, etc. Yes, it is in a strip plaza...they have numerous medical facilities throughout the facilty...two in that plaza, they own the xray clinic, and are building a new facility. They are not using the recover house anymore-its all at the hotel where you recover and you have your nurse there 24/7. I had comfort, privacy, a nice hotel, in-room patient massage.....I am sure it is just a matter of time before they will need to expand the facility as the one they have now is small. But it is clean-so clean....not a hair, smudge, piece of food, nothing. You have to wear booties entering their facility. Maybe they went through a tough time or growth issues or who knows what...I don't know. All I do know is that they have a tonne of patient testimonials on youtube that are posted daily by happy patients that make endless comments on the cleanliness, attentiveness...it sounds like they are really trying to turn whatever bad rap they had a few years ago around. I have nothing bad to say about them-it was a great experience! -

What was your Christmas meal like?
partofme! replied to PdxMan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am five weeks out as of today and I literally had a few bites of food and then had pain because I swallowed too fast. Thanks so much for posting this-it gives me hope! -
Wow, thanks for all the helpful suggestions on my recipe-mine was geared to me and my kids, so that's why I added the Soup and not so many spices-I should have said that The soup just adds a bit more mild flavour mixed with the yogurt-easier for me to digest as I cannot handle spicy right now and the kids wont eat it. As soon as I can, i am definitely going to use your tips to make a real curry My blog: myfriendsthinkimcrazy.wordpress.com

I just made a wonderful curry that is diet friendly the other day and my whole family LOVED it! 10 small yellow potatoes-quartered and boiled 1 C frozen peas 1 can chickpeas 3 small diced plum tomatoes 1/2 box gardennay sqaush Soup (or any squash soup) - about 1.5 cup 2 onions 1 inch piece of ginger, shaved or minced 4 tblsp low-fat yogurt 1 can coconut milk Indian seasonings-2 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp cardammon, 3 tsp curry powder, salt to taste green coriander for garnish Using large saute pan, Saute the onions till tender, and add soup; then add seasonings -boil the potatoes till firm/tender -add chickpeas, potatoes and peas to sauce, cook for 5 minutes-add rest of ingred and tomatoes. Cook on very low for an hour or more to let all the flavours combine. It is full of veg, ones that are easy to digest during the switch to soft/solids and yum! Nutrition is roughly (a serving size here is almost a cup-realistically, we will eat about half of that) http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calories.asp?recipe=927401

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
partofme! replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
He talked to his doc and got some Cialis. Still doesn't take away the sinking feeling he needs extra help because he isn't attracted to me...you know? But his doc says it is normal. Thanks! -
That is ridiculous! I hate to say it, but with the holidays, ten pounds can be pretty easy and if you could put it on, they put you on a liquid diet anyway that you will lose the ten in a week easy. Just a thought If not, maybe try jsut going to Mexico...

Hi all, I am usually pretty positive about my diet and have been doing okay-my biggest problem is honestly getting calories in. I am starting to get a bit concerned as I think I am developing an aversion to eating. It has been a month since my surgery, and I have had the flu, then bronchitis, so not feeling the greatest. But along the way, my calorie intake dropped-and I can't seem to bring myself to "eat". I have been tracking my calories on MFP closely, mostly to make sure that I am getting enough Protein in. Basically I have gone from getting 500-600 calories a day to about 300-400. I cannot seem to eat-just now I had two bites of mashed turkey, a bite of mashed potato and I felt pain (almost like indegestion) in my chest, an instant fullness, and had to lay down in a semi-upright position. I thought I was going to puke. So here is another day where I have had a few sips of broth, a few bites of food-this has been going on since I have been sick. On one side, woohoo-this is great- I have dropped 25 pounds in four weeks. On the other hand, just afraid for my health and if anyone has any diet advice or ways t oensure I am at least getting in some basic nutrition, or any other observations, that would be appreciated, thanks.
