Fallen off the wagon and can't seem to get up
iris26 replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get it. I was in your shoes back in early 2013. I failed like a failure reading everyone comments that they dropped 50-70 lbs in 6 months. Guess what...I didn't give up. I constantly told myself my body shape must be different my fat must love me too much to leave me. I started using myfitnesspal and journaling everything I are. Then, I started walking and moving my body. I lost 40 lbs within the first six months of my journey. Then, I went to my nutritionist and I was so sad to go but I did it. She put me on a healthy plan I was back to drinking protein shakes, every meal had protein including snacks. I stopped eating high carbs snacks and sweets. I lost 45lbs in another 6 months. I was sleeved on Dec. 11, 2012 weighted 235lbs 5'7" and today I weight 164lbs. I still need to lose 10 lbs more to reach my personal goal. You can do it, don't get discourage and be strong. I will forever struggle with food but I work on my decision making everyday. Best if luck. -

Traveling not sure how to plan my meals?
iris26 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to be traveling from Nashville to Wisconsin for work. I'm not sure what to take with me for food. I'm one year out but I prepare all my meals and snacks. I will be eating out every meal plus we will be doing socializing drinking. I have not drank an alcohol drink since surgery so I'm getting really nervous. My company normally orders pizza and beer/wine for dinner. I don't eat pizza because the dough makes me sick. Any suggestion? -
I'm out 16 months out and yes you will get more hungry if you don't eat protein first, if you start eating sweets, if you don't consume enough water and calories. My routine is drink a glass of warm water with lemon first thing in the morning. Then protein shake by 8am or two white eggs with turkey sausage (14 g) of protein. I try to get 14-30g of protein by 10 am. Then I eat a snack it can be tuna, beef jerky, cheese and ham. At lunch I eat protein, veggie or soup I get about 15g of protein. I eat another snack before leaving work usually iced coffee with protein powder and far free hazelnut creamer (10 g) of protein. Then I eat dinner whatever my hubby grilled or cooked. I just start with protein and usually that is all I can eat. I do eat before 7pm. Then I exercise and after exercise I normally eat half of the quest bar. (10g) my daily intake is about 800-1000 calories but I try to stay under 35g of carbs. Protein is about 70-90g. If I'm really hungry I drink water with MIO or squeeze lemon and add berries. I have started doing protein Popsicles for the summer and it's yummy.

I'm looking to do a tummy tuck and breast argumentation. I'm almost at my goal weight but I'm looking for doctor referrals. How much did it cost? How long where you out of work? What was the worst part of doing the TT AND BA? Where you satisfied with your results? Every day I have to wear some kind of girdle to hold my extra skin and I feel less prettier now than when I was obese. My kids and hubby support me on having the surgery. However, I was telling my sister and she acted like I was going to crazy. I'm scare of the pain but I survive having a baby and having the sleeve.

Discouraged with "planning" meals
iris26 replied to SlowlybutSurely's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi PDxman, I wanted to tell you thanks for such great recipes. Tonight I tried the chicken soup and my teenagers and hubby loved it. It took me no time and it was a cheap meal for4 plus left over. They had a piece of cornmeal with it. I just drink the soup a cup and I was very satisfied. I'm making the barbecue pull pork in the crop pot tonight. I will reserve a portion for me without barbecue sauce and the rest for the family. Another quick recipe is the taco soup. I use turkey ground meat, three cans of Beans (rinse them out) and one can so stew tomatoes. I use taco seasoning low sodium and garlic and paprika powder. Cook it for 30 minutes and it takes awesome. -
You look great! Keep up the hard work.

Currently my meals consist of a Protein shake (body fortress super advanced whet isolated) vanilla cream with coffee and two tablespoons of hazelnut creamer for Breakfast. For lunch I normally eat about 200-300 calories. I eat chicken, tuna creations, shrimp or steak. I normally like to get green veggies like broccoli, asparagus, or salad. My favor dressing for salad is Bolthouse Caesar yogurt dressing. My protein portions that I can eat for chicken or steak are about 4-6 oz. I normally have to eat steak very slow and small pieces or I will get full in about four bits. For dinner,I normally have chicken or tilapia (easy to cook) or a salad with grill veggies. I love eating lettuce wrap with chicken or pork. I tried tacos and substitute the corn shell with lettuce. Very good!!! Regarding your question about Pasta, bread and grains. I can eat one slice of bread and half of a biscuit. I can eat about four bits of pasta. For pizza I can eat about one small slide of thin crust pizza and about half of pizza if it's pan. Being Hispanic it seemed that every dish consisted of rice. My family now eats brown rice and I can eat about four tablespoons of brown rice. However, I can eat couscous, and quinoa. I can also eat half of sweet potato baked or baked potaoes. I can't drink any kind of carbonated drinks. Regarding sweets I try not to eat much sweets because it is full of empty calories (sugar and no protein). However, I have tried ice cream cone from McDonald and I could eat about half and then it made me sick. I tried dark chocolate and it also made me sick. I just stick to hot chocolate protein mix and that is good. Veggies/fruit- I can eat very little carrots and watermelon or melon I just can't eat they make me sick. My sleeve likes any kind of berry and apple or pear. let me know if you have any questions. -

I can totally relay. I have cleaned out my closet twice. I'm currently wearing size 10 and I can't believe it. I leave in Smyrna, TN and I have been going to the consignment stores and thrifty stores to look for work clothes. I have no short/capris for summer. I love shopping but I just can't afford it. Great job on losing your weight! Have you already reached your goal weight?

Ideas for celebrating goals
iris26 replied to Bobbi McGhee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job on losing the weight. That is great that you are not celebrating with food. I used to do the same but I have change my attitude. I pamper myself by going shopping, get a massage and/or get a mani/pedicure. Welcome to the wonderland!!! It taste wonderful and thin! -
