    December 2012: Three Weeks Post-Op

These are just a few snapshots I took.

    Its official!

Congratulations. Keep that positive attitude and best of luck to you.

    Thinner

It gets easier. However, I know that feeling you are referring to. At three weeks, pork should't be in your diet. At three weeks I was still on clear liquids and had introduced creamed soups. Don't rush the diet. The esophagus and pouch needs time to heal.

    Im 5 days post op..

Get your protein in. I know it is EXTREMELY hard to get in all of the protein, especially in the beginning stages but it will curb that feeling and give you more energy.

    Oatmeal-How Soon Did Anyone Eat?

I was informed I could eat oatmeal at 4 weeks post-op.

Awwwww....you Don't Need That Surgery. You Aren't Big Enough.

I did end up telling a few co-workers. Most people are supportive but about half did initially say they thought I didn't need the surgery. They have never seen me when I wasn't overweight, so they rally don't have anything to compare my current weight to.

    Traveling Post-Op

The main thing to be concerned with is the development of blood clots. It is recommended you refrain from traveling soon after surgery, if all possible. If you do have to drive, I read in my post-op manual to stop and walk for a minimum of 5 minutes EVERY hour. I am traveling from Arkansas to Texas to have my surgery done and I opted to fly instead of making the 5 hour drive.
  9. How many of you out there were told by family and friends, "you don't need that surgery", "why are you having that surgery", "why not lose it the natural way", or "you aren't that big"? I have made the conscious decision not to share my decision to have the gastric sleeve surgery with people for that very reason. I have only shared the news with my sister and brother in law. It's amazing how critical people can be. I am scheduled for surgery Nov. 13th and I start my clear liquid diet tomorrow. I never thought I would be so excited to start a clear liquid diet. Please share how family and friends reacted to learning of your decision to have surgery.

Patient Instructions Night Before Surgery Question ?

Best of luck with your surgery. I am scheduled for surgery on the 13th. I start my clear liquid diet in the morning and I'm looking forward to it.
