URGENT: Who went to a Lap Band Solutions Seminar?
mandi78 replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I went to the seminar this morning and they didn't even have a roster of names so I was worrying for nothing. I already knew everything they said. I was disappointed because the surgeon was not there....he was supposed to be conducting the seminar and I wanted to meet him. Anyway, Dr Benavides is who I plan to use to do my surgery. -
Gas is overpriced too but we still buy it....LOL.

I have not had surgery but I used to be really hateful, grouchy and snappy at work and once I got on Prozac, that went away. I actually like my co-workers now.....and they like me too. LOL

I think my insurance is going to approve me but I want to have a backup plan just in case they don't. Can some of you who were self pay and took out loans tell me the terms of your loan? Like how long its for and what is your monthly pmt? Was anyone able to get a 10 year loan? Most of the ones I have seen are 5 year loans which comes to a payment of about $350/month and I cannot afford that. Any other options? Thanks.

Can you use it to make juice.....like complete liquid juice without chunks in it?
-
The reason I was asking about juice is because I have that book called Raw Juices Can Save Your Life by Sandra Cabot. It has a few juice recipes for fatty liver that I was going to try using before surgery to help shrink my liver. I was thinking if I got the magic bullet I would use it forever for many things as opposed to an actual juicer (which I probably wouldn't use again once I get past the liquid phase post op).

Well, I found the Truelemon and Truelime packets at Kroger.....they were in the last place I looked and I almost didn't look there. They were over by the splenda and sweet n low. I thought they would be with the koolaid mix, tea, something like that. Another discovery I made was over by the chocolate milk mix, they have sugar free mix ins for chocolate, strawberry and vanilla milk made by Disney. Has anyone tried them?

I have seen a lot of different people post about different tests they had to have before sugery. What tests/consultations did you have to have? Does it depend on the dr or does it depend on the patient? Also, what do they do for cardiac clearance? Just an EKG? Tests I have heard that some have had: Upper GI sleep Study Bloodwork Liver Ultrasound EKG/Echocardiogram Pulmonary Functions Test Psychiatric Clearance Also, what order were they done in?

Here is the website for the truelemon, etc. You can type in your zip code and it is supposed to tell you where you can buy it in your area. However, it said I could get it at my Wal-Mart and I searched forever and never found it. However, the Wal-Mart in my town has to be the worst in the nation so others may have it. Good luck. I started to order some samples but someone said they take like 2-3 months to arrive. But, it looks like its going to take me that long to find it anyway. LOL True Lemon®

I have never been on a liquid diet but I have tried low carb diets in the past and they leave me feeling weak, nauseated, tired, foggy headed, headachy.....just basically feeling like total crap. Was this the case with the liquid diet pre-op or post-op for any of you? I know we are supposed to exercise to help get rid of fat around the liver before surgery but I know, based on past experience, there was no way I could exercise on the low carb diets I have done in the past because I felt so weak....I mean, I could barely go to work and make it home to go to bed. Is this the case with the liquid diets? Also, was low blood sugar a problem for any of you during the liquid diet? Thanks.

Hi, I have been doing a lot of research on the lap band and hope to have it done in July. My question is this.....and I hope it makes sense. So, the purpose of the band is for the food to sit in the "pouch" and slowly go down into your stomach for the purpose of feeling full longer. So if something is going to get "stuck" and cause a PB, does that happen right after you take the bite and swallow it or not until it tries to pass through the pouch into the stomach? From what I've read, it sounds like it happens right after you take the bite and swallow it so that doesn't make sense to me since the food is supposed to be sitting in the pouch for awhile. Can someone explain this? Thanks.
