A too small a bougie MAY increase complications (leaks, strictures) . The optimal bougie size is said to be 32-40 F but this is best discussed with your own surgeon.

If your mucus membranes are dry... Lack of peeing a regular "good" amount. And sorry the skin "turgor" test, kinda like Fiddleman said but on the arm... -

You here that seriouslychange you better get your ass to the ER ..... -
Surgeons use a tube [bougie] to guide them when stapling the stomach. The tube can vary from as small as 32 French Bougie to as large as 64 French Bougie Its just a guide that the surgeon uses to butt the stapler up against, when forming your VSG. The closer s/he gets to the guide the 'tighter' /truer to guide the sleeve is. During surgery the bougie is inserted into your mouth down your throat, towards the end of yer stomach where it meets the pylorus via an esophagheal dilator. After the new stomach is formed, the bougie/guide is removed out of your mouth, possibly why some VSGrs complain of a sore throat post op.

I told my husband I should just wear his "camelback" so I could sip all day! You may get people telling you now not to use a straw because of swallowing air and such. But I think if it helps you at this point go for it:) -

The sliming thing I've never had but of you eat just a little at a time 2oz that should help with that is it possible just to take sips through out the day? I mean I sometimes feel like I have to devote my WHOLE DAY to liquid! I'm just trying to see if there's something you can do to avoid having to go to the hospital... -

You have to do it!! You will end up in the hospital if you don't!' go and buy a variety of different things. Warm, cold, I even add mio to my Water sometimes so I can choke it down ( sweet tea is the best) Hell even is you just drink some Protein shakes and chicken broth that will be better than 4 to 6oz -
