  1. As far as the calories you really can't compare..there are so many variables from person to person, as long as your calories are coming from healthy foods, it all good! The losing weight thing now... You are doing great right on target, this is how it will happen, you will lose some, then your body will "rest". sometimes for several weeks but in that Time it is Likely that you will still lose inches. People refer to this as a stall. Just know that it will break and you will lose. Laura

    Selfish and Mad!

Yes Christen, There is no reason to not keep going along the path you've already started! I think as moms and wives some of us tend to put ourselves last a lot... If anything pops up we are quick to say "oh, ok, never mind" I felt this way too about getting surgery! But I pushed through and did it. There is and old tired saying .. "Where there's a will, there's a way" it is true though, let him have his surgery and you have yours. You will be able to manage and so will he Laura
  3. OMG!!! This is one of the best "before" and "after" I have seen. Not only the pictures (you look awesome) but I love that you put an old post from the "before" girl.. And a post of the "after" girl. Genius!

    Bacon!

I hate it when my husband makes bacon! It stinks up the whole house!! He made it yesterday and when we came home hours later I could still smell it! By the way I like bacon had a piece yesterday hehehe.. I just hate the way it stinks up everything. Edit!! I just went downstairs and he's at it again! Skinny bastard... And I walk in, and him and my son are making waffles and squirting chocolate whipped cream on top! Who buys this stuff. Yes it is definitely Sunday 0_o

When are we out of the woods?

I don't want to sound mean! And my last post sounds like a downer The sleeve does work! You just have to work with it. And a big part of that is working on the mental part. Your relationship with food. Now I'm sure someone will come here and say that I am wrong and they no longer "crave" anything bad.... Or it makes them sick to eat junk food. And that may be so for them! Especially in the first few months. I am 4 months I still feel LOTS of restriction! But not as much on certain "slider" foods I know this because I have tried chips and popcorn.. I have to still make my own choice to eat healthy. This is not a miracle cure... But it's close

When are we out of the woods?

When people say the sleeve is a "tool" they mean it. It will not do all the work for you... It will not make you put down the donut if you want it. Now I mentioned "donut" in my earlier post. As just a general metaphor.. I'm sure that if I ate donuts now I probably couldn't eat as many as I could before. But I would be able to eat more junk like say potato chips or popcorn. Than I could a chicken breast! If you want to "eat around" the sleeve and "cheat" It's restriction you could.. The choice is yours still to make.

When are we out of the woods?

It's just a cruel twist of fate with this surgery! I mean eating doughnuts got me here not eating to many chicken breasts. People refer to those as "slider" foods. They just go down easy and "break down" easier than meat. So you can still eat some of those but start with the meat.

When are we out of the woods?

The one thing you will notice is that you will be able to eat a bigger volume of high carb "processed" foods (which sucks by the way) But you will still feel the restriction with dense proteins. That's why the doctors always start with your protein.

When are we out of the woods?

Major complications associated to the surgery are drastically reduced after about six weeks. Not to say that you can't have complications later on.. but chances are you are out of the woods by now! As far as being able to eat more, I'm only 4 months out but can eat more than I could a couple of months ago. I have read through the first year you stomach will "relax" some.
  10. People call them food funerals. And yes a lot of people do them. I had one, I bought a pint of really good ice cream and came home and ate it.. And after? Nothing..it was just gone, nothing more. You WILL be able to eat again so please don't think that you are saying goodbye to food forever. Plus gaining more weight will just make you more miserable and leave you with more weight to lose Laura
  11. Most likely it's from your internal sutures. And is pretty normal if you stretch or twist to much. It's happened to most of us at some point.

5oo is good for someone newly out of surgery. But I think being a year out around 1000 is a more realistic goal?

  20. I think you are doing awesome for 4 days out!! But the internal sutures will take a while to heal so don't be surprised if you still feel a pulling pain now and then for several weeks. Lord knows I did!
  21. Indent normal. Pulling pain normal It will take a couple of weeks for the pain to stop Until then be careful twisting and bending You can buy a stomach binder and that should help "hold" things in And it may not seem like it but your stomach is probably really swollen still.

    Calcium citrate

They have sorbitol and xylitol... I just copied this but you really aren't taking in to much so your body might get used to it. Mine did when taking a product with these in it both xylitol and sorbitol can irritate the digestive tract and cause general discomfort in the abdomen. Gas, bloating, cramps, and nausea are possible side effects. These symptoms can vary in severity according to a person's age and health and the amount of sweetener consumed.

What kind do you take are they soft chews? If so are there sugar alcohols in them or dairy? Maybe that's it?
