now that the weight is dropping off i feel like i could've done this myself
No game replied to toy27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your nut sounds like a nut! No really, I will always say listen to your doctor, But after you are past the healing stage and on a totally normal diet. If you eat right you can meet your protein goals with real food! Now.... I'm 5 months out and still drink a shake for Breakfast but ONLY because I'm lazy and I like my shake -

The shakes are necessary right now for nutrition and healing, but you do not have to have them for the rest of your life! I promise! -

That is an understandable stage... It was a major thing you just did, a radical step. But we have all ended up here because of so many weight loss attempts, successes and failures in the past. -

Interesting.... Have you ever tried to lose weight before? -

I've only had alcohol on a couple of social occasions.. It hit me fast and made me very flush and uneasy for a minute or two, The interesting thing for me is I felt very buzzed quickly but then that feeling of being buzzed went away went away just as quickly.. I had some red wine and one time a very small glass of Vodka and cranberry and added ice to it all night. I've never had a problem with alcohol, just food, But I will say (as I have said before so please forgive me) that weeks after surgery I was still taking my pain meds every night (same time that I did my best eating too) to feel "better" I started looking forward to my night time dose. I refilled my meds twice I told my husband what I was doing and how I was feeling and we threw the pain meds out. I was never hooked on drugs just food..

I try to eat Protein for Snacks like some deli meat or string cheese, Kraft string cheese is not low fat but the tomato basil is awesome tastes like pizza:) I like hummus and tofu also for snacks, I am 5 months out but I still drink premier Protein shakes they are very filling and good This is not an easy journey for any of us. We are all learning and changing everyday.

On a serious note (sorry guys) cross addiction is very real and is something to be aware of EVEN if you never had a drinking problem before. Don't be scared, be aware and go into this surgery with information and a support system (Counseling) in place.. Ok back to the fun and games

Awesome! Don't forget us "little" people when you get famous

I am thankful for my husband.... But I need to say he is also thankful for ME. In other words I am "lucky" to have such a good man but... he is "lucky" to have me also. No matter what my weight is

Melissa, First off, three months will fly by. Second off now is the time to take some nice slow deep breaths.... Now is the time to start loving yourself and feeling relief that you have made a major step towards health and happiness. Use this time to start getting ready, By making changes in diet and exercise. There is no reason to give up now! Smile and be happy because you have made the choice to love and care for yourself.

I will say the protein bars are VERY GOOD, But we need to be aware of the fact that protein From "real" food is optimal.. I say that because like Fiddleman, I have a tendency to start to crave more from eating something candy bar like
-
The most popular around here seem to be the quest bars, I also buy the "pure" protein bars at Costco.
-
The 6 month mark for a lot of people seems to be The point at which hunger starts to increase.. I would say cut out the granola bars and make it a more protein dense snack like lunch meat and cheese or even a protein bar.

Deep breaths.... Yes there is a risk to having this surgery but when the obesity gets to the point of being deadly in itself.. they are risks worth taking. -
That does sound confusing! Did they give you a hand out with the first weeks diet on it?

Not much of a picture of the hike more if a glamour shot

Wavering back and forth which surgery choose the sleeve, about 3 weeks pre-op

A lot of us thought about the band first... But I don't think I've read one person have the sleeve and say afterwards "darn I wish I got the band" there is a sub forum here called band to sleeve revisions you might find some interesting stuff there. The sleeve is a major surgery and not easy at times but most of us are happy with it. Good luck on your research.
