Popcorn? I wouldn't, at six weeks believe it or not your stomach is still healing. The small kernels and stuff that get stuck In your teeth? That can get stuck in the staple line of your still healing stomach.. People really are not cleared for that kind of stuff until much later on..

The Reasons I Would Never Recommend This Surgery To Anyone Anymore.
No game replied to endless80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My thoughts? You were right that was a long azz post! But really are you are not glad that someone mentioned the surgery to you?? Is your life not improved because of it? I am not a walking billboard I do not try and talk someone into surgery just because I had it.. But if someone asks I will tell them. You are not responsible for someone going off half cocked and who they chose as a surgeon. I would love to know the recent stats on how many people are choosing to have sleeve surgery because to me it seems to have tripled this last year.. With its popularity comes people not putting in time to research (and I mean more than just this site) and just think about what they think is the instant gratification like "girl I can't wait to rock some skinny jeans" of the surgery. Also we have Drs by the truckload jumping on the bandwagon because of the profits to made of of all these people.. This is our fast food instant gratification nation! THIS IS MAJOR SURGEY and should be the last resort after all avenues have been exhausted. There are risks but if you are fat enough those risks are outweighed by the benefits... How's that for a long post -
Any one use Dr Nicholson in Dallas (self pay)

Dr Nick is like the McDonalds of Texas because yes he's done that many.. He has almost a cult like following... But... If any doctors office told me not to worry about complications because they don't happen? I would run, and run as quickly as my big butt world take me to a place that answered my questions instead of patronizing, placating niceties.. -

I only do it because I care...She is my daughter and has my genes. But then she shows me her abs and laughs and tells me "I'll never be like you, I wouldn't let myself get like that" Gotta love a 17 year old when your talking sh*t about her Taco Bell and hot Cheetos -

I just say "hey why not some protein you've bean eating carbs all day" Then her young (and still skinny azz) laughs and says things like look who's talking.. Yeah, people don't like food advice from a former fatty.. -

This looks like a great day!! Look at all the smiles!!! -
I'm not going to beat up on you, because it seems that it's a growing trend for the newly sleeved to "push the limits" and eat off plan in the very early days.. So honestly it seems a lost cause for me to preach. You are less than two weeks out, your stomach is numb and likely you will not "feel" fullness yet, this is why the prescribed diet and measuring. As for the sweets? Yes I often say the sleeve will not jump out of your stomach and knock that crap out of your hand.. Dumping or feeling sick from crappy sweet or fried food is mainly something bypass people get. Very few sleevers get it. Now, in the early days is the time to make some dietary changes. You will need them because trust me it gets to be more about you and your free will to make the good or bad choices when you get further out

Yes the best you can do is say you are recovering from some gastrointestinal issues.. Because most likely you will still be on a liquid diet.. Also warn your husband that you may get tired easily or not even feel up to all the activities. I would have plan b in case you have a hard recovery -
Emotional Rollercoaster

Oh that first month mark is notorious for anger and depression. I think in the first few weeks you are dealing with pain and healing. Now the real work sets in.. I really feel that this sadness and anger is us mourning food. Your old friend food is no longer there to medicate those feelings of anger frustration, despair and boredom. You are left to your own devices and need to come up with other ways to deal with life. Talking it out with friends and a counselor really helped me. And also knowing this is a really normal phase made me not feel so crazy. -

My daughter shops at Tillys sometimes and the last couple of years I ust go in there and tried to talk her into the pretty "girls" clothes.. All the while dreaming... When we went a couple of months ago I was like "awe, look how cute this sweater is" THEN IT HIT ME!!! Oh my flippity floppity! I can fit into this!!! MUAHAHAHAHA I tried it on and bought that sucker! Who cares if I'm 47 and it's a teen store -

I Lived Through This Surgery, My Sister Didn't.
No game replied to LyndseyD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dear op, While I have not commented on this thread I have been following it. And first off my condolences to you and your family. I understand you wanting to be her voice. We have had members here pass before and sometimes family members will come and post as you did, other times they just silently disappear without much notice.... I may be mistaken but I did not take the other post as an attack or meant to trivialize your loss. At the end of the day this is a major surgery and all of us need to do our do diligence in researching it and make our own decision. yes we all rolled the dice with this surgery, just as we do everyday in life to some extent and and most of us make it through and reap the rewards. Again my deepest sympathies go out to you.. Please take care and don't put your energy into the small stuff -
<3 u 2 girlie

It was hard I'll give you that... But I just exercised for an hour and judged people silently
