Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
No game replied to timetobefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ah yes! The sixth month curse... This is around the time that we all have to put in a bit of extra work. It's around this point when some of the hunger comes back and we are able to eat more. Now is when the choices about what we eat become even more important! I have to fight my junk food ways everyday and try and stick with proteins and veggies. The call for processed food are really loud and strong. You are not alone, I take it day by day, minute by minute sometimes. The best we can do is just not give up on ourselves!!! -
I have to say the main reason I don't eat cereal? Is that from experience before surgery it did not keep me full for very long. And just makes me eat sooner than I would with something like eggs or meat..

I don't really eat cereal... And the eating and drinking thing always confused me with soup! I do know of one very successful sleever here that eats a bowl of fiber one (the original one not all the new flavors) every morning. He swears by it and it helps with keeping him regular which is a problem for a lot of us

HELP! Pain & Discomfort After Hot Dog 5 Days Post OP
No game replied to Jeffie Beck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is an interesting thought, because I think we all "rewarded" ourselves with food and comforted ourselves with food. I know after surgery when I "needed" comfort the most, my old way of comforting was rudely yanked away from me... It made for some sad days in the beginning. As for the punishment? I think that is part of the overeating thing too. Reward/punishment all at the same time. When I ate, I ate until there was pain, I "filled that hole" with pain and when it subsided I filled some more... There is a lot for all of us to learn while we travel this road. Laura -
So Governor Christy had lapband surgery.

HELP! Pain & Discomfort After Hot Dog 5 Days Post OP
No game replied to Jeffie Beck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My word that was very distressing to read. Your stomach at this point is still "numb" So the fact that you were able to cram the whole dog in doesn't surprise me... When you do go back to eating please only eat things that are on plan this early out and measure! No more than 1/4 cup at a meal.. My other concern would be for getting an upper hand on any food addiction issues you may have. From experience I know that this surgery will not cure that, it is something we have to work very hard at. Good luck to you, Laura Oh and as Lisa said above look for symptoms that may indicate a leak and call the doctor right away of you are showing signs. -
Shhh... I had chocolate the other day! But it was these tiny little "bits" shaped like watermelon seeds... I couldn't avoid them though because they where buried in my "watermelon ice" Ice cream scoop

The absolute WORST thing you can eat this early out is popcorn! It is not that it's not good for you. But it is dangerous at this point!! -
Imma going to do my walking while shopping though.....

I think my best NSV is NOT feeling heart palpitations and out of breath everyday like I'm going to die soon.

I just got back from a 5+ mile hike with my husband. The elevation change was only 700 feet BUT IT WAS EASY!!! I could of done a lot more and was able to hold a conversation all the way through when we were on our way back I felt so good, I felt like a could have jogged part of the trail! That's all Update: I should say that my husband wore a 40 pound pack because he's getting ready to hike slot canyon next week and we just got home he's dropping me off so he can go to the gym and work his upper body... But I still feel good even though I'm married to superman

Fiddle off topic? Ok with me we are all friends! And you better take advantage of some pretty hikes in Hawaii! I didn't know that about wild mangos.. I will try fish oil (yuk) I hate when I exercise and retain water weight by the way..

To dry fry, I cut up my tofu and slow fry it with no oil or butter on a non stick griddle or you can use a cast iron pan. I fry it on a lower heat to get the moisture out and crisp it up. Tofu isn't really high in carbs, I buy mine at trader joes (extra firm) Also after you dry fry it you can do different things with it...like marinade in anything (it is tasteless so will soak up any flavor) and stir fry with veggies I like it marinaded sometimes but I will also eat it just straight from the fridge cold after dry frying it
