  1. Well I can't stop anybody.. So the only thing that I would bluntly say?? Is this is why there are statistics. Some of us will make it, some of us won't. Read, you will see that everyday too..
  2. I'm here, and I hear you. I cannot go there and get you and take you out for fresh air but if I could I would. It's so hard to leave the house sometimes, I know. The longer you're in the harder that first step is. I know this is going to sound weird but try to have your husband read what you wrote.. It will help him understand (if he doesn't already) and perhaps help you make the first steps by getting you out more (yes even if he's tired) you and your child need fresh air even if it just for a little while everyday bundle up and get outside even if it's just in the front or back yard for awhile.
  3. As long as it was, I did read the whole thing. In fact I think I deserve a medal, as it was quite long and my attention span is not... As I said above this is the time to work on your disordered eating.. You will have a short window to do that don't waste it with ways to get around the sleeve..
  4. I guess the other thing I would add, is that most of us suffer from disordered eating.. You are here and having this surgery as a tool to help you with time and space to work on this disorder. You suggest doing this until you can eat "normal" again. It doesn't quite work like that. You need to take the very hard steps to fix your disordered eating FROM THE BEGINNING! Because it is very easy, as you get a bit further out to go right back to your old unhealthy eating habits sleeve or no sleeve...
  5. I'm sorry but I'm very confused by this post.. Not good, not good at all.... Please people don't do it, and please stop suggesting for other people to do it. First, this behavior is the first steps of bulemia and getting into the habit of chewing food and spitting it out can lead to a very serious eating disorder. After WLS we are already dealing with changing the way we relate to food, so we want to instill good habits all along the way and avoid the bad ones as much as possible. Second, there's a biological reason not to do this too. When you smell food and when it enters your mouth and you begin to chew, the body goes into Prep Mode to receive food. Your salivary glands produce saliva, your pancreas produces insulin, your liver produces gastric acid and your brain begins to calculate how much nutrition you're about to receive from the food you eat so it can keep track of it's daily needs/calories --- the body is a well tuned machine and it knows how to deal with food when it knows it's coming. But then you spit out the food. Your body still has excess saliva, insulin, gastric acid and it can't figure out why it didn't get the nutrition it thought it was going to get so the brain accountants go nuts. Excess insulin in your body causes your appetite to increase so you'll eat more food to soak up all that extra hormone. Excess gastric acid in the stomach -- now released at the Y of your common channel -- can cause indigestion or heartburn or ulcers. And those brain accountants are now doing some creative math to recalculate the nutritional value of food because it thought it was going to get a certain number of calories, but none came, so next time you try to eat that same food the brain thinks you need twice as much to get the same nutrition as it thought it should have gotten last time. So not only is the whole "chew and spit" habit a training ground for bulemia, it's also a way to tease your body into thinking it's getting food when it really isn't. Bulemia is a very serious illness and not something you want to play around with. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/252757-chewing-food-and-spitting-it-out/?fromsearch=1
  6. I hear that if something at GNC doesn't work out you can take it back.. As for the shakes I know it gets old but keep chugging (lol chugging get it ) along because they are so very important. If it's just a question of bored (with your old shakes) and not throwing up that is good. Look at them like the necessary "medicine" to help your body heal. Also try buying some Torini SF syrups to help change the flavor a bit or even pb2 powder

    Protein

If you are far enough out to be able to safely consume your protein in real food that should be fine. I would always advise you to take it up with your nut or surgeon first though..

    Jeans

I did not wear jeans to much in the beginning. I wore mainly yoga pants and sweats. But I'm wondering if an abdominal binder might help under your jeans? I didn't have one but looking back I wish I had because I feel it would of kept my stomach in a more stable state and my scars would of healed a bit better and not so "stretched". Also it would be a cushion between the stomach and the waistband.
  9. I understand the disappointment.. I know what's it like to work hard at something only to have a roadblock thrown in your way. There are many days when I feel like I'm swimming against the current. And well, it gets tiring.... Take your day and feel sad, you have good reason. But don't give up! Like I said, you have done so well getting that weight off, keep doing what you are doing diet and exercise wise. Be strong, fight the feeling of defeat and let them try (and succeed I'm sure) again.

    Take THAT! Christmas!

Thanks, darlin'. Hopefully in the new year I'll get to onderland like you guys and I'll post another mashed up face photo for your delectation xx And I will be here to "fix" it for you
  11. You have done so well on your weight loss so far..do they think of you lose a bit more they can try it again?
  12. Jo, The 27th wow ok you were just sleeved! First things first, take a slow deep breath.... In......and out..... For the next two weeks you should concentrate on two things only, and that is you and your healing. Now is not the time to start looking at the bigger picture. Keep it simple. In time you will feel better, also it's ok to want a baby, lots of woman lose weight for the same exact reason. As for being a mommy you can be a mommy to more than one child biological or not there is more than enough love in our hearts to give. Take care rest, walk, stay hydrated. And the rest will come

    Take THAT! Christmas!

Lol arts I was W-A-S-T-E-D after the first shot!!I came in, was immediately handed the shot (by two evil sisters in laws) and was a giggling drunk fool after the first! The funny thing I've noticed with the sleeve. And I'm not a drinker I can go six months in between but the few times I've tried it I get really buzzed after just a bit and then as quickly as it comes it goes! So if I have another glass it doesn't hit a buzz anymore.. But that night well two bottles of tequila, oh and I guess we hit a bottle of whiskey afterwards too And yes I was drunk. But still the girls that weren't sleeved (sisters in laws) and who drink on a more regular basis. Were in a bad bad way at the end of the evening..

    Am i prepared enough?!

You sound more prepared than I was! I had only premiers on hand for protein shakes afterwards.. I am not a picky eater, never was so I just drank them because I was supposed to and well I kinda liked them! Lots of different broths (I preferred home made) But for me the biggest thing I had on hand those first weeks, was every kind of liquid I could think of.. Powerade zero, water drops and powders of every kind and lots of different warm teas.

    Side dishes?

I'm pretty boring, that said I usually just have streamed or raw veggies. Oh and Costco has a sweet kale salad (sold in the refrigerated veggie section there) that I'm obsessed with these days! Also (again I'm lazy) they also have a quinoa spinach mix that's really good (frozen section)

My Mexico Story with the Sleeve

I'm sorry for your bad experience.. I've read this several times here, about Kelly charging an extra five hundred at the last minute.. I can't remember if it is always due to BMI though. I wonder why he doesn't just charge it up front? I'm glad you are home and safe though

    chia seeds

At 18 months out you should be fine. I've seen a far amount of sleevers use them after the 6th month mark
  19. I prefer the word "accident" as in "I accidentally slept with my boss" or "my first born was an accident" it's much more universal like "I ate a whole chocolate cake accidentally thinking it was sugar free"

    Water

Drink the powerade zero as suggested above then start getting your water in asp! It's not really worth a trip to the ER for something you can avoid.
