Revising from Sleeve to Bypass...
No game replied to missmachine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can not do moderation like some people can. So I try to stay away from certain foods. Carbs like bread? Just makes me want more carbs and it does not keep you full I hate to say it but it's still about choices. And it will be for the rest of our lives. No matter what surgery you choose. -

I think it works both ways there is a woman here that has the sleeve and her daughter has the bypass, and has gained her weight back and wishes she could convert... None of these are miracles or cures even.. -

I'm going to tackle this one first. I met a woman last week at a support meeting she was pre op and was going back an forth between the sleeve and bypass... I ask why and she said she wanted the malabsorption too. To help her when she messes up and eats the wrong foods... There where some bypass people there and they said you can still eat around the bypass and not lose weight. Just like we can eat around the sleeve! -

I think for most of us the biggest loss of weight happens in the first six months... After that its blood, sweat and tears. I'm still fighting, but honestly a solid 2 pound a month loss is a good loss for me. Please don't think you are a failure this is is a great surgery but a hit or miss surgery for some. Has the doctor said why he thinks the bypass will be better for you? -

I just saw that they have a sale on the crispy Protein bars! God I hate PMSing -
I've never tried bison! But it sounds yummy. Georgia sometimes after a fast day my restriction seems greater. But honestly I've never struggled getting my 500 calories in! Oh and I've always eaten fast I just can't help it all those years of shoving vast amounts in. I just cannot break that habit.

I started a thread some time ago, it had to do with food addiction. I am addicted to food and wanted to hear from people that were overweight and having this surgery, but thought they weren't addicted.... I can say this about people like me some foods are triggers and it is best to stay away. Moderation works for some after surgery but for others like me? It just starts me down a spiral of binge type behaviors.

6 months... It's the "magic" number in the sleeve community. It's around the time that your stomach "relaxes" and you are able to eat a bit more. Also the ghrelin hormone comes back just a bit. These things are scary for sure! But you still won't be able to eat as much as before so that's a plus. This is where the real work begins. You need to tackle those food demons and be mindful of your choices. The fact of matter is crap food (yes chicken fingers ) go down easier and you can eat a lot of them. Make good choices and you will feel the restriction still . And know that a treat is just that, an occasional "treat", not food that your body needs
