Why I Post aka That guy's an A Hole
No game replied to Paul11011's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Paul, There has been many a time when I answer post trying to help with a thoughtful and time consuming reply only to be over looked because I am not saying the things that the op wants to hear.. I've even been called some not very nice things... So I understand your frustration. I also understand the addict that is in withdraws and is looking for an enabler.. They will stop at nothing in those moments. There have been times where I feel like just staying in my safe little corner here and communicate with a few individuals only. But if you let the misinformation train run rampant what would happen? It would be like a bad game of telephone! You are a vet that has been very successful, and this forum needs to have vets like you stick around! Laura -

That's just from a e book that has the very basics and a few recipes.. Not the main books that we have highlighted here. I think I need to read more because I'm getting conflicting info on the main site... So that page that I posted up there may not be true.

What foods can you eat?

You still have to have some self control because some foods are sliders and you can eat large quantities still.. Think chips or cake, junk food. -

Once you are totally healed most people can eat everything.. Some have a hard time with pasta, rice and bread the first year but it gets back to normal at some point. -

Hey feed what do you think about artificial sweeteners? I was reading one of the books today and it said none on fast days!! I suck down calorie free drinks everyday.

I am not the owner of the group, but i will tell her pm you.

And the 5:2 method doesn't really yield more than a pound a week for most people.. It's just helping some of the girls get the last few pesky pounds off.. I really feel bad about people feeling excluded and I have noticed several threads since yesterday talking to that effect.. I'm going to ask the owner of the group to perhaps make it a group that does not show up on The main page and current threads section.

I would imagine that being 5 months out you are not eating much more than 600 to 800 calories a day anyway? I think your guys weight loss is awesome by the way

I make an easy chili for my family: 1pound ground turkey 1 red or yellow bell pepper chopped 1 green bell pepper chopped 1onion chopped 1 small can tomato paste 1 can diced tomatoes 2 cans black Beans 1 can chicken stock a handful of chili powder to taste And garlic powder, salt, pepper..or if I'm feeling even more lazy I just use a packet of chili spices and disregard the directions on it! Brown the turkey in a big pot Dump the rest in and cook until peppers are tender Of course if your on purée you will have to blend your portion...

This is from the groups front page... This is a group of us who are trying a new way of eating, called the 5:2 plan, otherwise known as intermittent fasting. it seems to be a good way to lose those last stubborn pounds, or lose those pesky regained pounds! Welcome, to the 5:2 group. We consist of members that are AT LEAST A YEAR OUT out and almost at goal or have reached goal and put on a few pounds while in maintenance. We are not trying to exclude anyone, but this method is not for the newly sleeved. Please talk to your nutritionist and try the diet first to see if its something you can do. You must TRY INTERMITTENT FASTING FIRST and then if you want to make a commitment to it, send us a message and you'll be invited in. http://thefastdiet.co.uk/ http://the5-2dietbook.com/ http://thefastdiet.c...sked-questions/

I'm not a doctor but I think once you get past this hurdle and everything is healed you should be risk free for another leak.

That's a hard decision to make! I know I went into my first consultation thinking I wanted the band also... I left unsure, it took me a week (only) of research on both procedures side by side to make me realize how little I knew!! Truthfully I had never heard of the sleeve before my first consult with the bariatric surgeon. I would say go to the band forums and read their experiences....and most definitely read the band to sleeve revisions here! Good luck to you. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/13-band-to-gastric-sleeve-revisions/

I'm so sorry for your pain and rough (understatement I know) start! Leaks are a very scary and very real possibility with this surgery no matter how great your surgeon is and how well you follow aftercare instructions. I know we have several members that have gone through similar experiences, I hope that one of them will see this and answers.
