Ok today's NSV's I went biking BEFORE I went to a BBQ... In the past if I were going to a BBQ that would be the ONLY thing I did for the day! Oh and I played hopscotch with my friends six year old daughter but really, I was the only adult there not worried about looking silly. In the past I would of told the girl no so I wouldn't have to stand up and be noticed!

I was reading another forum last night and a woman just got back from a seminar with her bariatric doctors they told the people that the sleeve is great, but also said that after about the five year mark the restriction goes away and hunger is back all the way and most need to be re-sleeved!! Thoughts? So I've been thinking about it all day, and have done some poking about a bit and some reading.. http://www.medpagetoday.com/Endocrinology/Obesity/40490 And I found this an interesting statement coming from a doctor at a bariatric conference... “Doctors are constantly concerned with durability. The gastric sleeve gained instant popularity because it is quick and easy to master, and is a less difficult operation than a bypass,” said Dr. Coon. However, he stressed the need for surgeons to learn all of the facts, perform extensive prep work, and communicate effectively with each patient before deciding whether the sleeve gastrectomy is appropriate. “With new surgeries, outcome is always hard to predict,” he said. “If five years from now it still seems to be a good operation, then it probably will continue — and then again it might fail. Regardless, people will continue to promote it or disagree with it.”

Am I eating too much?
No game replied to nsantoro126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And really your going to feel your restriction when you get to ad more dense type proteins.. A lot of us were able to eat a full container of yogurt. Please do measure your food though in the beginning especially, because sometimes your full stomach sensation is not all the way back, so relying on your full signals is not always accurate -
I did, it's kinda yucky but if its really cold it's not that bad. Also it's kinda fizzy like a soda.. All in all I'd say enjoy it because its the last thing you'll eat or guzzle for a while! Muahahahaha!!!!!

Tanya, The best thing I can say is STOP. Instead of looking at it like you will never have these things, Look at it as you are finally getting real help. When I got my date I felt a sense of peace knowing this prison I was living in was now to be only temporary. I woke up each new day knowing help was on its way. Don't fall now you are so close! Be kind to yourself, know that you are doing a loving thing for yourself and there is no need to beat up on yourself anymore. The eating or food funerals? As I have said here many times I did one (ice cream) can't even remember the flavor but it was a pint... After I didn't feel good special or anything really, just kind of crappy and knowing o just added to the total I needed to lose. Start tomorrow you just need to make little changes. Don't eat with the mentality that you will never see this food again.

Oh I would definitely have a problem with those! Yum they look good though.

Cheri and M2G, Harder to lose after forty?? Umm you lose things pretty easy, like your eyesight and your keys, but weight? Yes! After 40 the uphill gets a little steeper! But such is life... Ok so eating was crazy yesterday but I really reined it in today. I went mountain biking and had a spectacular fall over a log drop that I tried to "jump" over caught my pedal and yeah... Tomorrow it looks the the holiday BBQ can not be avoided.. So lets see how that pans out

Delta I have NEVER had a problem with you! I think most of us here can say the same thing.... I worry that there is something bothering you? I can't help but feel that you are being confrontational for a reason?!?
-
You are right what I said was off putting. For that I am sorry.. I never had a reason to be cross with you before. As for your diverse dialogue along with a differing opinion? Let me say this, my experience on the vets forum has always been a positive one. We do not always agree, even in this thread! So please don't think you got the reception that you did for daring to disagree. It was the offensive way you did it. And coming back telling us there is a great big world out there? We are not stupid, so please don't think we don't catch the innuendos to that. It's been an awesome weekend full of outdoor exercise, injury and coming here to support and check on friends. I've noticed that several people that left the forum have come back this weekend somewhat unhappy I'm wondering if the holiday brings out Sadness in some because things are not as they would like them?

And my ass hurts! But the good news, is that I did it! 7.8 miles 450 elevation change (thanks strava) and I LIVED, oh and it was fun.

Lol! Yes I think I need more practice before doing crazy downhill single track again. Oh my shifting is getting better though. And as hard as the uphill is its not as scary as barreling down (And over the handle bars)
