Any March Sleevers?
d mixon replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I have to start this diet in the morning so what am I doing now? Just sitting here dreading to go to bed because I know I'll be waking up in the morning starting a whole new life. Although its a better and healthier life it going to be one without my constant companion. Without sounding dramatic its almost like I'm saying goodbye to an old loyal friend. For many years now I have made food my "go to" for sorrow, joy, celebrations, loneliness ,anger, well you get the idea. Time now to put my Big girl panties on face life head on.. -

my self pay is 11900.00 that includes 2 nights in hospital . It also includes 50000.00 of insurance in case of any problems that may occur. Most insurance co. have a lot of requirements ,test, evaluation, etc.

I have BC/BS however it doesn't cover any weight loss procurers no matter how medically necessary. So I decided to just go for it and pay myself
-
Also I read anything I could find on Dr. Richards. He is very qualified and has done 1000's of surgeries.
-
Since I am self pay I didn't have to comply with any insurance requirements .so I haven't lost ant. Dr Richards asks for a 7 day pre-op diet which I will start Monday. My surgery will be at USAMed . Truthfully the seminar was very plain compared to he one I attended at the Infirmery, but it was very informative and Valerie the RN was wonderful to me. So far I am very at ease.

On my way to the hospital

Can't wait to hear your success story -
I have to say that I wasn't too impressed with the USA seminar. That being said I fell in love with the personnel there. There has been plenty of phone and e-mail contact. And even a lengthy phone conversation with the Dr. On Friday I actually went in for my consultation and the PA was wonderful. She spent a lot of time with me and felt like talking to am old friend. Then then Dr. Came in and did the same. He was very confident and reassuring. He allowed me to ask questions and didn't make me feel rushed. hope this helps you in your decision making.

Anyone with pending March surgery date?
d mixon replied to GrannyGoes4it's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's true for me too. I was so worried about all the pre test but once they heard self pay the Dr. Said " ok when do u want your surgery". I said just as soon as I finish your pre-op diet. So we sch it for March 4h. -
Just got my date March 6. I'm so exited and yes a little nervous but ready to start his journey. My sister and I just booked a cruise for Aug. 1st to celebrate the "new me"

self payer concerned about complications
d mixon replied to BKLYNgal87's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
In my case my surgeon included Bliss insurance into the total coat of 11,900. This will cover complications up to 60 days after surgery and covers up to 50k in fees. -

Way to go!!!!! -
I will be self pay . It's been hard saving up but on the other hand I haven't had to worry about the Insurance Co.'s paper work or restrictions. I have had phone consults with the Dr. And have my 1st office consult next week. I am wondering if there are certain tests that every Dr. Requires or are most test performed because of the insurance requirements . I'm just wanting to speed Though this. Anyone have a clue?
