  1. Of course there are definitely different opinions and approaches but the real trick for me was keeping the good things in. Its easier said than done but I try to hold onto the good things that people say/do and let go of the bad. I can understand why some people would want to keep things to themselves as is their right and honestly, after awhile it got old talking to people about my WLS as I often felt like I was repeating myself but it just helped me realize that I was making the right decision. I hope that others can relate and that this decision was a good one for them.

    Back To Work

I'm going back to work next Wendesday and then out until the following monday. That should be a good getting back to work for me. I probably honestly could go back tomorrow but I developed a cold and I've been napping like crazy!
  3. I told any and everyone that I've had surgery or that I was working towards WLS. It never occurred to me to keep it under wraps. I'm glad that I didn't honestly. I haven't gone back to work yet but I didn't go thru all the Pre-Op diet and the surgery and the sheer PAIN of it to not to share my story. I've always been one to talk about myself so I was really open about telling people. I've had a bit of pushback but I'm the type of person that if I want something, I'll take it and not listen to others grief. I've done a lot of educating of my co-workers on the surgery as surprisingly many of them were pretty unaware what it exactly means to have WLS surgery. So its been a journey for practically my whole office!

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

Proudgrammy - I got 50g of protein in by drinking an Isopure with 40g in it. I haven't been successful in getting all of my Protein shakes. I want to get the protein shakes in but I just can't anymore. So I forgot about dry non-fat milk, bought it to put in things to boost the protein. Apparantly not feeling good yesterday meant developed a cold yesterday evening. Not pleasant at all. But I'm getting in fluids and sleep is awesome!

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

Besides the post nasal drip I've got today (having to sleep on my back does that to me) I'm doing ok. So far yesterday I got about 50g of protein in and 40oz of fluids. Today is better so far. Almost got one of my shakes down and 26oz of fluids. Working on an Isopure but I'm just not feeling well today. About to go hop back in bed and sleep for awhile.

    November Sleevers Day 1-5

You might not feel your limit with Full liquids. I know that I just downed a Campbell's Soup at Hand in less than 10 minutes. And I know that its only because its as smooth as Water. I wouldn't worry too much about not feeling your limit with them honestly. If its allowed on your plan by your doctor I'd try some cream of wheat. I ate some of that at lunch and honestly, I have about 1/4 of a cup if that and I totally felt full into my throat even. I'd say that as long as you can get your water/protein intake in, you should be celebrating

Pre Op Diet Vent. Perfect Dieters Need Not Respond!

I wish I had been allowed cucumbers, jello and sugar free drinks when I was on my pre op. I had to have 5 new direction shakes/bars for 4 weeks, the week prior to surgery I was strictly liquid. I couldn't even have a bar. It was hell. Not going to lie. By the last week when I was on straight liquid, my stomach would churn and get upset if I tried to have a piece of hard candy (it was halloween) and I even tried a piece of gum but because my stomach had been so empty for so long, it would just gurgle and churn and be completely unawesome. That last week was honestly the easiest for me because I refused to have anything not liquid (I had to remain on the liquid diet otherwise I would have had to have an enema for the surgery and I haven't had one and I'd like to keep it that for a long long time) so if I didn't feel like a shake, I just didn't eat anything. I drank a lot of Water. It definitely wasn't the best way but just like I am now after surgery I have absolutely no appetite which is actually quite a pain in the rear since I have to keep an alarm to force myself to eat/drink something. I know that this topic is rather old but I hope my thoughts could help someone still Prep Op.

    Bad Multivitamin!

My boyfriend bought Adult complete gummies from Sam's club. The name eludes me right now but my nutritionist approved them. I have many defiencies in Iron, B12, Vitamin D (thank you Michigan) but I have bought vitamins that are super small and I've never had a problem with popping pills even now after surgery.

    November Sleevers Day 1-5

The past 2 days I've been able get less than half of my water and protein intake. I'm drinking an Isopure drink today and that is 20oz of fluid and 40g of protein. So all I'll need to do is get 30g more from food...which I doubt I'll be able to get but I'm trying my hardest. I had some spaghetti sauce yesterday when my family ate, Only about 4 spoon dips but it definitely helped me drive home that I will be able to eat real food again!

Isopure W/ Water A Clear Liquid?

I bought some today as they were buy 3 get 1 free. Didn't really like the Mango Peach. I hope I like one of the others because it would be so helpful. My surgeon swears by ISOPURE and actually drinks it herself. But even if I can't find one that I LOVE I'm still going to drink one each day. I'm having enough of an issue getting my liquids and Protein in that I can't deny 40g of protein. My surgeon considers them pulling double duty Fluid and protein.

    Starting Full Liquids

I'm on Day 5 and Full Liquids. I'm just now getting about 30oz if that of fluids and today I tried a Protein shake, carnation instant Breakfast, yogurt and Isopure. My family made spaghetti tonight so I was feeling adventurous and I tried the meat sauce and honestly, it went really well. I'm not making it a daily thing but it helped me feel like I was eating real food again. I'm going to be making potato, bean ham bacon Soup tomorrow with non fat dry milk and 1/2% milk and cheese. I'll be buying a ninja blender tomorrow so I'll be blending the crap out of it!
  15. I'm on Post Op Day 5 and I'm only just now able to get in a few bites of yogurt. I can't even begin to imagine starting pureed foods. You're one brave and amazing lady for sure I'm kinda jealous you can eat what you're eating lol. I would do about anything right now to eat pureed foods but I still get 'gurgles' occasionally and I'm not even allowed to think about pureed foods until the 20th lol.
