This is going to sound weird but I noticed myself gaining weight by my shoes. I had a job where I would stand for 9 hours straight. I bought shoes before the job and as I gained weight, and the weight burdened my feet and caused swelling I had to buy shoes in a size 8 1/2, a whole size larger. I can definitely tell a difference on my feet from when I was overweight to now when I'm obese. I'm looking forward to losing weight and wearing my high heels again. And buying my first pair of thigh high boots. It's crazy to think of all the the new things we have to buy to dress out new bodies. We can't even wear the same shoes.

Regret even after initial "omg, what have I done?"

I'm pre-op. I see a therapist. I have been seeing her before I ever imagined getting surgery. She urged me to continue therapy. She warned me not to get surgery if I was planning on discontinuing therapy. food has been a outlet for all of us. When you're obese food is usually more than an outlet for overwhelming negative feelings, it's an outlet for every feeling. My therapist and primary care doctor have both told me that when you remove food from the equation you can really start to grapple with life, because you no longer have your coping mechanism. I highly recommend talking to a therapist. Most healthcare providers allow a certian amount of visits monthly. They can help you work through your new lifestyle. There is no going back, but you may find solace if you look into research about patients three years out. Your stomach begins to grow out again and you can have a similar lifestyle to pre-op. (Hopefully by then we have all learned healthy eating and don't need to be resleeved.) Good Luck -
I pre-op. My close friends and family know. I don't plan on telling anyone else, unless they are lovers. I feel like a liar not diclosing my terrible genes to a potential life partner. lol.

I'm pre-op. 20. I'm looking for people to talk to through this process as well.

What led you to your decision to have surgery so young?

I'm pre-op. I have PCOS, thyroid disease, and high blood pressure. VSG is my last hope to gain control over my weight. I have been overweight my whole life.
