Hi everyone! I am in a panic....today was the first day of my diet (1 shake for bfast and 1 for lunch and for dinner a small to moderate meal.) Ok the moral of my story is that most people that I have talked to here and other places have said that this diet that I have started they usually don't start until 3-4 weeks pre op. So the reason i am freaking out is.....is this really ligit? do i really have to do this? who thinks that being on this diet for 6 months is way to long? I need help and advice please! My bmi is 43.9 My weight is 288 I do have a medical card I do not have much of any health problems...a little high bp, gerd and some arthritis. (just some facts for everyone to go on) Thanks in advance for the help and support!

Needing Advice Asap!
jwaller7577 replied to jwaller7577's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These are the doctors orders and yes I am sure I have the paper at home to go over. 1000 calorie diet is going to put my body in starvation mode and its not going to have a good outcome in my opinion. And yeah I am going to lose weight alright but its it healthy to eat only one small meal a day. I am so confused -
praying for you and hope that all goes well.

thanks woobs -
Hi pre op ladies and gentlemen. I am having a hard time with all of this. I have to go on a pre op diet which consists of 2 shakes am and lunch and 1 small to moderate meal at dinner time which is full of proteins. Anyone have any suggestions on shake and meals...i know that i am going to get sick of just grill chicken all the time. Any advice is helpful. And what about exercise for pre op...Right now funds are low and can not join a gym so what are some home exercises you might do??? Please comment and even friend me if you would like and are able to help me or have some of the same concerns

Hello sleevers. I am starting today my 6 month liquid/1 moderate meal diet today. I am very scared and excited at the same time. I am hoping that I do not fail at this. I want to become a person that knows her limitations and what to and not to eat/drink. I need to have more will power. I have 3 daughters which is going to make this hard because I am still going to have to cook meals for them and see them have snacks and fast food (two weaknesses of mine). I know that my family is here for support but when my hubby is at work I dont have someone here to say no...I think I am going to have to post little post it notes all through the house so I stay strong. I will keep in touch daily and let you know how I am doing. I hope to get some feed back from pre sleevers and post sleevers

I think you are doing very well. I am kind of in your shoes as well....no one is really concerned about me in pre op even though it is a challenge as well...So i hope when i am sleeved they get more into the game and support me through it but if not i will push forward and do it on my own as you are. Good luck to you and keep up the good work -

All of these suggestions sound awesome but my diet is real limited....these are my options....all green veggies mushrooms radish tomato....for meats its chicken turkey breast lean ground beef pork loin cuts fish and canned tuna or chicken must be baked or grilled....for snacks its raw veggies fat free cottage cheese fat free string cheese or an orange. and of course 64/72 ounces of clear liquids which are water popciles beef/chicken broth ect...I dont see anywhere that I could have an egg because i would like that lol -

I am just so scared to mess something up because i am a medical card patient and I dont want them to denie me the surgery. It is just going to be really hard to me to cut from 3-4 meals a day to just one and a couple of nasty shakes. -

Yeah it is 2 protein shakes and one protein meal a day. I wonder why he is already wanting me to start this 6 month diet if its not really necessary. He also wants me to exercise in moderation which that isn't a problem. -
