3 months out and down 75lbs!
jgarnick replied to PIRATE~MOM's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great job!!! You can really see a difference. I'm just over 3 months out and I'm down 60 lbs from highest weight and 50 lbs from surgery. It feels good doesn't it?! -
May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
jgarnick replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm down 45.7 lbs since 5/13 - SW 265, CW 219.3. I'm losing slowly but am happy with the progress. I've started walking 3-4 times a week and do arm weights just about every day. I feel alot better already and can't wait until I get to my goal weight! -
HW: 275 SW: 265 (surgery date 5/13) CW: 232 I'm down from a size 26 pants to a 20 or 22. Even though I'm only down 33 lbs, I feel great and my clothes are getting really big.

I am 6 weeks post-op this week and am down 32.1 lbs. First pic is from day of surgery at 265 lbs, 2nd pic is from today at 232.9lbs. Everyone keeps telling me it's a big difference, but I have this crazy warped self image thing going on and can't really tell. LOL!

6 Weeks Post-Op Progress
jgarnick replied to jgarnick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks ladies. I feel great! That's the most important. -
Has anyone experienced pain in the stomach not necessarily incision pains but actual upset stomach pains? Last night I was up for hours with an extremely upset stomach that was constantly rolling, gurgling, gassy, etc. should I be concerned? It kept me up for hours.

I must have hit a stall because haven't lost weight in almost a week. I'm sad because I read stories on here where people are losing weight so much faster than I am. I know everyone is different, but I can't help but feel envious. My weight before the one week preop diet was 265. I was sleeved on 5/13, date of surgery weight 255. I was discharged 2 days later at a weight of 266. That's an 11lb gain from IV fluids...grr! So here I am 3 weeks later and I weigh 242. I'm down 23 lbs from my discharge date but alot of that was IV fluids. Technically I'm only down 13lbs from date of surgery weight. I'm getting 700-800 calories, 60-80 grams of Protein, and at least 50oz of Water a day. I'm just frustrated and venting! If you've read this far, you deserve an award!

$25000 Surgery Cost, what did you pay?
jgarnick replied to NewYear'sSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure what my insurance was billed yet but I have to pay $250 and that's it! I thank God because I know some people are not as fortunate. -
Looking for some advice about a vacation 4-1/2 months after surgery. Our friends invited us to go to Cancun at the end of September. All inclusive, friends are partiers, do you think that's enough time post op to go and be able to have a good time? I plan on partaking in a couple of cocktails (no flames please, I know the consequences) and I know my food intake will be much less. I just want to go and have fun with the group and not stick out like a sore thumb. I'm 2 weeks post op and doing very well. Getting all my Protein, Water, etc in and feeling pain free and great. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Sleeved 5/13 and doing well. Starting weight 265, surgery day weight 255, left hospital on 5/15 weighing 266 (thanks IV fluids), today I weighed 250. Technically I've lost 16 lbs since leaving the hospital but only 5 lbs from surgery date weight. I can't help but feel a little disappointed especially after I see all these gigantic weight losses from everyone else. Looks like I'll just be a slow loser. I've been dizzy for the last few days but I wonder if its because I've done nothing but lay in my bed for 3 days. I feel better today after I forced myself to take a few walks through the neighborhood. I have also found that milk/dairy is not agreeing with me so I've had to find some other alternatives (almond milk and soy creamer for coffee). Otherwise I am doing pretty well. So glad to see everyone else doing well too!

Thanks. I did call the doctor. They are thinking it's a lactose intolerance. I cut out dairy today and felt better. I did try a pudding cup and was miserable after with nausea and gas. I'm thinking that's it. I'll keep trying to cut it out for awhile and then try to add back.

I was sleeved the 13th. Doing ok. Adjusting to my new normal. Felt very good after, overdid things and now I'm suffering a little. Upset stomach, dizziness, weak, etc. I've been laying low for 2 days now. Hope to be back to normal soon. Still can't get used to the new amounts I can eat and eating slower. It's crazy. Down 10lbs in my preop, gained 11lbs in the hospital due to Iv fluids, since I've been home 5 days now, I'm down 14 lbs. so I guess I can say I'm down 14 lbs since surgery. Hope everyone else is well!

Has anyone had problems with smelly gas? I am 6 days post op and have had issues with foul gas. It occurs more toward the end of the day. I've eaten cream of broccoli soup the last couple days and gotten 65+ grams of protein. Those are the things that I'm thinking may be contributing to this.

Did anyone get lightheaded early on after surgery? I felt so good after surgery that I was out running errands starting the day I was discharged from the hospital. Now I wasn't spending hours at the mall but I ran to one store one day and went to a funeral home another to pay respects for a friend. I woke up this morning and I was exhausted, sore and very lightheaded all day. I am wondering if it was a side effect of overdoing it or maybe not getting enough water in??

I'm 4 days post op and got in 3 protein shakes for a total of 84g protein and drank about 50oz water. Seems like too much according to what others have posted. Should I be concerned?

Getting Sleeved in April..is anyone from MI on this site.
jgarnick replied to lavey93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 30 minutes southwest of Detroit. I'm having my surgery sometime in May at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia with Dr. Zeni. I know quite a few people who have gone to him with lots of success! Just finishing up my last visit of 6 mos of doctors visits for insurance approval. Getting close and I'm getting nervous! -
Let's get to know each other, shall we?
jgarnick replied to pomeerin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there. I'm Jessica. I'm 36 years old, married and mom to a 5 year old boy and 2 year old girl. I'm at my highest weight, 265, and need to take control of my life. I have no motivation to diet and exercise and no self control. I've been on and off weight watchers for years! I'm ready to make a change and teach my kids what a healthy lifestyle is like. I'm terrified for the after effects of the surgery, the limitations, the nausea/puking, etc. most of all I'm afraid of the unknown. So glad I found this site!! -
Question about dress sizes from a newbie
jgarnick posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be having my sleeve surgery done the 3rd or 4th week of May and am standing up in my sister's wedding on October 12th. I have to order my dress for the wedding today and they told me that I could only alter it about 2 sizes down before it loses its shape. So, my question is, how much weight did you lose in about 4 months and appx. how many dress sizes was it for you? I know everyone loses weight differently, however, I'm trying to make an educated guess on how to order this dress. I've been told to order it a size or two down by some people and then have some more room for alterations if I lose more and then there's my mother in law who said she only lost 1 dress size after losing 80 lbs after her bypass! Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks! -
Question about dress sizes from a newbie
jgarnick replied to jgarnick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I went in and asked them and the seamstress told me to go down 2 sizes and worst case scenario is that if it didn't fit, then I could rush order some extra material in for them to fix it. I would hope that I'm down 2 sizes from now at that point though. The reason we had to order now is because it's a special order dress that takes 4 months to come in.
