  1. I'm doing pureed foods but they tend to hurt. I had regular food and felt fine!! My in laws and sliced potatoes, steak and broccoli....obviously I didn't have steak but I had 3 potatoe slices and about two or 3 spoonfuls of broccoli and felt great! But yogurt, baby food, fruit cup or protein drink makes me so ill. I do like broth but gets old after awhile and since I'm already dehydrated that's not good. So hope to get lots of help and guidence tomorrow. right now I'm sooo lost on what to do.
  2. I had a horrible time after surgery. Surgery was Aug 26th....Horrible pain and since I can't keep down liquid medicine I just had to suck it up and deal with it. Could barely sip Water the first week so I lost 18 lbs. I'm dehydrated still, anything sweet like Protein drinks, yogurt, fruit make me soo sick. I've been the exact same weight for two weeks and I'll see the surgeon tomorrow for my first follow up. Needless to say I never thought this is how it would be. Not happy with the sleeve and don't know why I did this to myself. Can anybody else idenitfy with anything I've said. I'm sure if things pick up then my feelings will change but I'm hungry all the time and didn't think that was normal! Help!
  3. Didn't do any research when I bought the scale I have now that I bought a couple of years ago ...and the readings are off when I go to the doctors. Looking to get a more accurate one before I head into surgery Aug 26th. Any suggestions on what to get?

    August 2013 Roll Call

August 26th here!! Starting liver shrink diet Aug 1st!
  5. Surgery is Aug 26th and I'm starting to get ready.....making a list for food, storage containers (since I will have to take food to work). This is for pre surgery and post surgery. Can anyone suggest things that they have bought that have worked? I plan on using a lot of baby food because it will be the easiest to take work....did anyone else go this route?
  6. Started this in March.... after all the hoops that you have to jump through I'm officially approved for surgery and the next step is meeting with the surgeon for the first time. I know the surgery will be scheduled after our meeting but curious as to what happens during the meeting? Can someone shed some light on what happens at this appt? Thanks!
  7. Started this journey with my first evaluation on March 15th. A month later I finally had my psych evaluation followed by a sleep study two weeks later. Now I'm enrolled in pre-op classes. I have 4 of them and had my first one last week. Any guesses on how far away surgery would be?
  8. Did my first evaluation on Friday and everything went well! They gave me the next couple things to work on .... EKG...done Bloodwork...done **5 year weight history....ummm having issues...urgent care I visited back in 08 moves their files after 2 years to a storage facility and the office manager said she would try to help...not holding my breath because that isn't her job to get them.....How important is it to have a 5 year weight history?? and what if I can't get all 5 years? Scheduled my Psych evaluation for April 23....and it's completely covered..yay! Due to having once a year sleep apnea episodes I have to have a sleep study done......earliest I can get in is May 5th. BUT my insurance doesn't cover it and it's $4500!!!!!!! My God! The woman I talked to on the phone said my insurance (Anthem) "may" cover a home sleep study. Crap!! Not what I wanted to hear... Also my insurance paperwork says that the 6 month mandatory weight management is waived IF you have a BMI over 50 and I do! But during the evaluation nobody said anything about it. I don't want to lose any weight until I know that the WM is waived. I feel bad for saying that because the whole purpose of me doing this is to lose weight but if I have to do the 6 mtn WM then I wanted it to start on Friday so I can get moving. Does it take the Dr. time to go over your paperwork before you know what you have to do next? Ohhh and one more thing.... I have to get Medical clearance from my PCP but was asked when my surgery is....told the nurse I didn't know and that I just started this journey and she said that Med clearance is only good for 30 days so I need to do that closer to surgery time. I feel like I came out of the gate at a good pace but feel stalled with no where to go. Any have any experience with this kind of thing? Almost feels like a test they are giving me....."how bad do you want this???" BADLY!

  11. All my paper work was submitted last week now I'm officially going in for my first visit. They said this will take 2 1/2 hrs. They said something about meeting with a dietician/Nut. and then somebody else. Just curious what you experienced during your first visit.. Do they do anything physical?? They did say that they would get me scheduled for an EKG and bloodwork....and then I believe after this appt they give me the go ahead to meet with the Psych. Any insight as to what happens at this stage is very welcome!! Thanks!
  12. I finally got my initial visit scheduled for this Friday!!!! Ok, now my question is....what happens during the initial visit?
  13. Hi all, I just received an informational letter from my insurance BCBS. They explain everything that needs to be done in order for the surgery to be covered. I was told that I would have to go through a 6 month weight management program. A little disappointed but hey not a problem...let's do what I gotta do to get the ball moving! So in the letter it says that the weight management is waived if the patient's BMI is over 50. Normally a BMI like that sucks and yes it still does...last time I weighed myself I believe I was 297 at the Dr. and I can say with all certainity it didn't go down especially during the winter! If I'm over 300lbs which I assume I am!! That would mean my BMI is 51.5 ..So hopefully that means I can get moving on this even quicker. Not sure yet but that would be good news. The thought of waiting 6 months drives me nuts! I'm just so excited to move forward! The lady at the hospital keep playing phone tag with each other so my first appt STILL isn't scheduled. I was going to call today and then my Mom called and talked to me for an hour and I missed the window of time that the patient coordinator is in the office...ugh. Oh well I talked to my Mom!
