Before and after 105 pound loss
mariamitani replied to mariamitani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my daily goals are 800 calories a day,70 Protein,64 Water. So that gives me a deficit of 1,190 calories a day= 2.4 pounds lost a week. I never get all the water and protein in but I try my best . I also have been exercising for about a month now and try to go 3-5 days a week for 1 hour at the gym. I lost 90 pounds with no exercise. I firmly believe that food contributes to 60-75% of weight loss .So, with the exercise I lose about another 1 pound a week.I try to keep calories at 800. When I go above that I don't lose as much. Also eating high protein at every meal makes a big difference and has a great affect on how much I lose weekly. Stick to Greek yogurt, cottage cheese ,reduced fat cheese sticks, low fat milk, beef, turkey, chicken, shrimp, tuna fish, lentils,Beans , all fruits ,all vegetables and as little sweets and salty Snacks as possible. Use olive oil ,canola oil ,pam spray.I weight and measure almost everything I eat using a scale ,measuring spoons and cups. Something else to keep in mind is that every Body is different. Some lose slower than others. keep your eyes on the prize. It will come off eventually if you are following the rules. Congrats on the awesome loss! 80 pounds is equal to 320 sticks of butter -

Dizziness and Sleepiness!
mariamitani replied to MaddieJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would get checked out just to be on the safe side. But this is what my life was like for the first month post op . Tierd ,dizzy, and sleepy. Your body is going through a major change and shift that will take a while to level out. Keep up the fluids which can be the culprit and protein. Good luck and hope you get better fast -

How long before others could eat bread. I am 9 months after surgery and still can't eat any breads etc
mariamitani replied to Di Fanti's topic in Food and Nutrition
I don't like to eat bread because it hurts in my stomach when I do. Theres an arabic bread called markook that is paper thin that I can eat but rarely do (carbs). They have it in Walmart . There's also pita bread which is pretty thin compared to regular bread but I don't like to eat it either causes pain for me. I'm 7 months out. I guess each person is different And think that bougie size may have something to do with how well you can tolerate bread since it swells in the stomach when eaten. -
All of my December sleevers...
mariamitani replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm down 105. Weight-loss has definitely slowed . was 3 pounds a week every week now 1 pounds a week on 800 calories a day. I have started uping my exercise and have noticed a jump in my loss. I was size 22-24 pants and am now a size 10-12 depending on the pants. Tops medium from 3x. I have about 30 pounds to go thats my personal goal, my doctor never set a goal for me. To be normal BMI I have to weight 148-168. I have chosen to make 150 my goal. Im very happy with my results. I just want to be done with the losing weight part. -

Sad, My moms doc is pushing her to get the band. I tried to talk her out of it but shes the type that when you push towards something she does the complete opposite!
-
I know 2 people that got the band. The first lady is a close friend. She suffered horribly to the point she almost died of infection. A year after getting the band it got infected. Fluid built up in her abdomen and closed off her esophagus. She didn't know about the infection till 5th day she couldn't eat without vomiting. Finally she went to the ER(thank GOD she didn't go septic), she removed it and was left with scar tissue and damage to her intestine. The second women is my uncles wife. She was around 400 pounds when she got the band. She lost about 200 with constant vomiting. She lived off of soups. then it got to the point she couldn't handle the vomiting so she loosened it and has gained back allot of weight. My mother wants to get the band because that's the only thing her insurance will cover. I'm so worried about her. I wish I had money to pay for her sleeve

My 6 month totals lost each month
mariamitani replied to Success2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great!Congratulations on the loss. The closer you are to goal the harder to get the pounds to come off I also have about 30 something pounds to go and it is difficult lately to lose more than a pound a week. Just stick to the basics 70 protein, 64 water , exercise and it will be gone eventually -
yes the solid food is more dense and hits your stomach like a rock. try chewing more and/or adding something to moisten it like mayonnaise, chicken broth, marinara sauce , salad dressing what ever works for you.

My hair started falling out at 3 months and has not stopped yet Im almost 7 months post op. I have noticed keeping my protein up makes a difference. I plan on starting biotin.

Communication is the number one relationship killer, Im glad your doing well together. -
Stalls are very common. Increase your liquids if your not getting enough. Make sure your getting in 60-70 grams protein, take your vitamins.Have you gone #2 lately? try to eat higher than your normal calorie range for 2 days then go back to normal calorie intake. It can confuse your body and throw you back into weightloss mode. If none apply to you then hang in there stalls stink but they will pass good luck
