Freaking Out....is this normal 13 days pre-op
mariamitani replied to Letty1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months post op and I sometimes freakout thinking its all gonna go back to the way it was before surgery and I'm gonna gain it all back. Then I step on the scale and bam 3 punds down for the week. You are strong and this surgery is an awesome tool! -
refried beans topped with salsa and cheese. Eat tortilla chip with it. Cheese sticks are a real good one. Tuna salad. garlic lentils (Boil brown lentils in water. In a bowl smash garlic. Add lemon to the garlic strain the lentil but leave a little water in them. mix lentil with garlic, lemon and left over water from boiling). You can eat it with Pita bread or top it over a salad. boiled eggs. Deli turkey. chicken breast. there's a lunch bag that stays cool for 10 hours its called Packit freezable lunch bag. The lunch bag is lined with gel so there's no ice packs. You fold the bag and freeze it. Google it. I'm gonna need one when I go back to school.

I'm kind of nervous about my surgery, does anyone have any advice?
mariamitani replied to Kyrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Mexico to get my sleeve with DR.Alvarez. I have been on an airplane many times. The hardest part is take off. I kept adavan with me just if I needed it to calm my self down. If you and your father are tight you should tell him. Me and my father are not that close and I told him .He didnt think it was a good idea and said that I was too young. I'm 24. I explained to him how difficult it has been and that I feel this is the solution and that was that. In the end its your body and you know how it feels to be so over weight. When I first woke up from surgery I was still pretty drugged up. My mom says that I was crying from my shoulder pain.( the gas they fill you up with during surgery can get stuck in your body and cause pain till it passes). I also remember it being pretty painful. they hooked me up withpain meds and within an hour it was all gone. It would come back and then I would call the nurse and she would give me meds. I had some acid issues that their medication didn't take away. So I went the next day to the pharmacy and bought some tums. Bring tums with you and gas x strips very important! I also started walking allot the next day. Every half hour I did about 3 laps. It really helped get the gas out. I think that excess skin is something you cannot run away from when you have gained a large amount of weight. I have allot of stretch marks and will definently need some plastic surgery for my stomach and chest. I'm hoping my thighs and arm shape up. Everyone is different though. My mom dosnt have any stretch marks on her stomach and when she loses weight she has no sagging. If you do end up with it you can have surgery to fix it even around your neck area. You can exercise drink lots of Water, exfoliate you body 2x a week and put firming lotion on daily(that's what I found on the internet). I don't believe that exfoliating and lotion help at all, that's just my opinion. I do agree with exercise ,weight lifting and staying well hydrated. As for the Dr.pepper I love DR.pepper I have read about people that do drink it post op. Its loaded with sugar and is not good for you. So, if you do drink it post op you have to wait a while and make it a once in a while thing. I also have read that soda/pop can stretch the sleeve. Take a sports bra that has no wire. Tums and Gas x Strips. Have your first week of Protein ready at home when You come back and water. There is a forum here with a list of things to bring to the hospital. I think its in pre-op. Congratulations I'm very happy for you and I wish you the best of luck. This surgery is awesome. It will be difficult in the beginning but stay strong and in no time you will be used to the new life style. Water, protein and walking are most important so you don't get dehydrated and sick. Good luck -

How do you know when to stop?

Liquids usually I can drink allot When mystomach feels heavy I stop. When I eat solid food I get a real full feeling when I swallow the last bite I can. It takes time to figure out but you will get it eventually. -

Need help im falling into an old habit
mariamitani replied to blessings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't over stuff your self to the point that you are so full you want to vomit. vomiting is damaging to your teeth and esophagus. It can cause esophageal cancer if vomiting is done for a long period of time. you may want to speak to a therapist/psychologist to help with this eating disorder. My father did this and probably still does because he didn't want to gain weight but wanted to eat bad food.Prior to surgery I became desperate and I almost started to do it but didnt like the feeling. Keep making healthy food choices and Good luck. -
That amazing great job keep up the good work

Terrified of anesthesia
mariamitani replied to LynnD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didnt think about it till they came in to take me to the operating room! They gave me what they called a Shot of taqilla to calm me down. After that I was speaking spanish that I learned from dora the explorer! I had my surgry in mexico, I forgot to add that detail LOL I also have been under anesthesia many times in the USA. Say a prayer before you go in and follow your surgeons instruction to the t. Good luck and I wish you the best -

mariamitani replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
12-20-2012 was my surgery date. I was 288 today I'm 226 I have lost 62 pounds , went from a size 3X to XL tops. 24 Wide to 18. My feet have also gotten smaller, I'm very happy about that because I have wide feet and can NEVER find shoes that fit only tennis shoes. My face look so much better ,my acne has cleared up allot. This surgery is amazing! This is the best thing I have ever done for my self -
Nov Sleevers... What's Your Status?
mariamitani replied to Yasmine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think your getting enough calories in. 300-350 seems pretty low to me. try to increase your calories that will bump up your metabolism and kick the weight loss off. -
Despite my leak/complications I am doing it! Photo update

Feel like i am loosing control.
mariamitani replied to Barisaxylady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Chesters corn puffs is the answer. It comes in butter or nacho cheese flavor. 46 pieces is 160 delicous calories lol another would be popcorn. Air popped popcorn, pam spray and seasoning awesome and very low in calories! For sweet I go for DARK CHOCOLATE dove mmmmmmmm. 1 bar 220 calories The key is yo can have junk but not all the time. Also make sure you are drinking enough water and try taking an acid reducer. -
