I would love your opinion and I know you have them!!! you will not hurt my feelings! My husband wanted to take a quick photo of me before I left for work this morning and they are not staged cause I had no idea what he wanted, they are god awful, but this is what I looked like leaving for the office today. Husband says I look great, sexy blah blah blah, he has to right? In your honest opinion do I look thin? This is my ultimate goal. Sorry I have no idea how to turn the photos, they are fine in my computer. any suggestions?

Am I finally thin?
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to ASKSARAH - Sleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! I appreciate your honest comments! Made me feel so much better about where I am at. I have this perviable muffin top that will never go away until I have plastics and its confuses my vision of me, -
Getting discouraged, losing focus
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to KeeWee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Obviously listen to your doctors and specialists, but if you really need to drop the weight in order for a surgery date go on a liquid diet. Drastic times take drastic measures. A lot of people have had to do this to get on the calendar. Good luck. -
You know you're a failure with your band when...........
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to Sue Magoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't feel that way! The band is an awful device. I would never ever put something foreign on my body! Get the sleeve you will do so much better. Stay on track with your intake. You know what it takes! -
7 days post op with lots of mental hunger
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to 1215sf's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A. Its good that you recognize that! B. Lets find a solution. My solution to head hunger is this and you can use it or ignore me. Set timer for 30 min. realize that its not real, drink 8-10 oz of Fluid ( I personally cannot drink plain water) Take a 15-20 min walk and distract, do you have a dog? They love these short walks. Come back home drink another 8-10 oz of fluid. Solved! I can almost guarantee you are no longer "hungry" If you are its probably real hunger and have some lunch meat and cheese wraps and move on with your day. I just realized you are on liquids! you will not really ever feel full until you are on solids. at this point distract yourself, do what i suggested above and instead of a meat and cheese roll up, eat popsicles and jello! -
Just Getting Started
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to IncredibleShrinkingViolet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on your journey. As long as you are eating well you should get everything you need. I am a year out and do nlt use any powders or supplements and my numbers are up and all my labs are great. Your body will work exactly they way its supposed to with the sleeve as opposed to the bypass which does cause some malabsorbtion. I have yet to feel any hunger a little over a year out. The only time I ever feel like I can't get enough to eat is about a week before my period for a day or so. Even then its probably in my head more than anything. You will do great. -
Head Hunger & Actual Pain
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to ChavaBling's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WEll good for you for making this decision. It will be the easiest thing you have ever done for yourself. You can tough it out for 48 hours! I promise. If you don't get an IV you don;t get to be put under, get meds, iv fluids. So you just tough it out and move on. Not everyone gets a drain. I did and it wasn't a big deal. I didn't really notice it unless I was nude. I wrote snug pants and a zip up jacket and tucked it in my underware and pants or in my pocket. The sooner and more you are up and walking after you wake up the less pain you will have from the gas. I did not have any pain other than that gas. It sat on my breastbone and it was no joke. Just ask for meds when you are in pain. I took a shower the next morning after my surgery and I felt amazing, I was up and shopping on Sunday evening ( I had surgery friday afternoon) with no issues. I flew home monday and it was a comfortable flight. You will be just fine. Let's put something into perspective for a second. There are children who have to have huge IV lines and pics and all sorts of treatments and they tough it out. You can get through this pretty simple surgery! I promise, -
13 yr old getting sleeve. Need recommendations in Mexico
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to slcmommy5's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I used Dr Ponce de leon and I am more than happy to refer you, That comment of some so called surgeon in Mexico is 100% unasked for. The surgeons there are a hell of a lot better than any doctor here in the states. I told my husband that I would consider him, as he is a general surgeon as well, to treat our kids first before any so called doctor in the states. So that poster canl stfu. I say go for it. I paid$5500 and a cheap plane ticket. And my dear this was the easiest thing I have ever done for myself. Your kids will do great. Keep me posted!!! -

ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to Dr-Patient's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tel them to leave you alone, It probably looks thin due to the fact it was fat before. Don't send any more photos you do not need the negitivity, you do what you want! -

Need to get back on track
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to prettywings's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Get back to square 1, get back on liquids and start from there. Retrain your brain. I have had to do this a couple of times and it works fabulously! -
Fell down flight of stairs... yes I'm whining
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to leo0704's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry this happened but it might be a blessing in disguise. I did not exercise at all during my active weight loss period and I lost a massive amount of weight. The moment I started to work out regularly the weight loss stopped! Once I stopped working out ( my partner had plastics) I began to lose again! Take care of your foot and rest. -
Diuretic (Water Pills)
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to aNewLife14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its not a stall unless you have no loss in lbs or inches in over 30 days. Did you measure yourself? Take photos? Why don't you try that before hurting your body further. The truth is we are so used to hurting ourselves to see weight loss that's our first go to. Treat your body better and let it do its thing. -
I take a few stool softeners with a laxtive daily to keep things a moving. I miss one day and its gross and hurts. if you need to use your gloved fingers to help it move along do it but be careful or go see your doctor for help. I also eat raisin bran or something as well to keep things a movin! Good luck

How many grams of carbs per day?
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to JessicaAnn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do 2 things, I either limit myself to 15 per serving if its inevitable or max of 40 a day. I do need carbs to loose. Every one does. Its fuel. If my carb #'s are low for the day I eat 2 Graham crackers with some cream cheese for my evening snack. Its a guarantee loss for me Good luck -
This was really hard to understand but I think I got the jest. You will probably not feel full for about a month. Keep on sticking to the plan your doctor gave you, I was on 1 week clears, 1 feel fulls liquid, 1 week soft and then anything as tolerated, When I got to the soft food stage I felt the restriction finally. Mind over matter. Find something else to do rather than focus on your stomach. You need to be sure you have your stomach acid under control same amount of acid being produced but less space means it goes up! I personally take zantex over the counter, nothing else worked for me. Walk, drink fluids and keep your brain busy. Good luck.

Those with Acid Reflux...
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I drink plain Water its like a stupid brick in my gut, I dislike plain water. The only way I can drink water is with some additive to make it less dense. The only thing that truly gives me heartburn is carbs and sugar. Things I avoid anyway. Do whats best for you. Good luck! -
Frustrated on vacation
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its pretty much impossible to stretch out your stomach. The surgeon cut all the stretchy part out. you would have to be seriously self abusing to do that. You would know if you were doing that. And your body will get sick before you could really do much damage. Enjoy your vacation and relax. -

Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally wanted to lose 130 lbs to be 130lbs. I was never given a goal. In 1 year I have lost 100 lbs. I have still been losing slow and steadily since I stopped working out reguarly. I hope to lose 3-40 more lbs. However long it takes it takes. An average is just that an average. Some people lose all the weight + and others do not lose any or very little ( see my 600lb life on tlc for instance) Good luck. -
normal not to be overly nervous?
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to truck8595's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
covatila84 you will be just fine, Once you are down there ( at least for me) they took me from the airport to the hospital got me signing things, into a gown, all the blood works, ekg, it was a lot of stuff combined into a couple of hours. Once I was alone the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a happy shot into my IV that knocked me out and let me relax and sleep until they had me on the table. I didn't even realize I was on the OR table. Once it was over, I was up and walking and getting on with my day. If they offer you something take it!!!! They may not offer they may just give it to you. -
Gluttonous PIG!
ASKSARAH - Sleeve replied to Z28ChevyCamaro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would advise you to do this, Measure 1/2 cup of cream soup ( for instance) Don;t warm it up yet, Take an acid reducer like zantex ( its great for immediate and 24 hours results) Go for a 10-20 minute walk ( dogs love this) While walking drink some Water like 6 oz Once your walk has done heat up your food. eat slow like overly slow, You may not feel FULL because your stomach has just been traumatized. I did not feel real restriction for about 6 weeks. Enjoy your 1/2 cup. Find something to do afterwards. maybe another small walk Then eat again in 2-3 hours. Enjoy your life!
