Not sure how the ham was cooked... But if it was made with brown sugar, maybe it was too much for your tummy? Mine doesn't handle me eating too much sugar very well & it runs right through me... Just a thought. Hope you feel better!

I fell today. Hard. The thing is... I was standing completely still talking to someone. Now, I have read a few threads where people say they have trouble walking or become clumsy because your center of gravity changing... But I was standing still, talking to someone and next thing I know I'm on the ground - I don't even know how it happened. It was pretty ridiculous. Hilarious, but ridiculous. Hoping that I'm not alone... ... I'm going to rub my aching bruised butt now...

I don't think it's selfish at all... Do you think people who do IVF or have fertility treatments are selfish? To me it's very similar, you are doing what you can to get healthy and be able to have a baby. One of the main reasons I decided to get this surgery was because my OBGYN recommended it... He was concerned about my fertility. If that had not been an issue I don't think I would have ever had the guts to have this surgery. Yes, it was very scary, but you know what scared me more? Not being able to have babies. Good luck in your decision!!

I had the gas-x strips but didn't use them in the hospital either... Have you been able to get up and walk? That really helped...

At my 6 week checkup I was cleared for alcoholic drinks (I'm not a big drinker, but asked because I had a family thing coming up) I was told wine and non carbonated things are ok in moderation, just watch anything with very sugary juices because of the "empty calories" also, no beer (carbonation) good luck!

Nah, I didn't have a pre-op diet at all, I was just told no food after midnight the night before good luck!!

Nah! I was cleared for all exercise at 2 weeks... My doc said just listen to your body, it will let you know what it can and cannot handle... Good luck!

Skinnypie replied to Groovinchikin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Holy cow!! I wasn't planning on giving anything up because I usually do sweets or fried food... & now I don't eat any of that stuff or caffeine or sodas or anything... But the scale!! Man! That is a Good one!! I weigh myself everyday!! I should totally give it up... I'm having anxiety just thinking about doing it... Aaaahh!! 40 days without knowing what my weight is? Ok... I'm in!!! -
Thanks!!! yeah, I decided it was vigorous for me so I went with that, I'm definitely sore today, will be back at it tomorrow

So, I just got the okay from my dr to start swimming and today was my first time at the gym to do this. I've never swam laps before & wondering how I should put this into MFP, there are two options one says light, moderate effort and the other says fast, vigorous effort.... While I certainly wasn't going "fast" it sure as heck wasn't a moderate effort on my part, I only didnit for about 20 minutes & my arms were burning so... I guess my question is, is the moderate/vigorous calorie count based on a "general" ability or my own abilities? Cause if I compare to the other swimmers that were there, I was going super slow, but for myself, I was working hard! Below is a screenshot of the options in MyFitPal

How about protein bars? I just bought Pure Protein bars at Sam's this weekend and they are good better than shakes IMHO about 180-200 cals depending on the flavor & 20g of protein

Anyone told NOT to do situps and crunches?
Skinnypie replied to Sadlers1999's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hmmmm, I've never heard that... At 2 weeks I was cleared for ALL exercise... Doc said my body will let me know what it can an cannot handle and that from that point on it would be trial and error... -
I say your life & health have no price tag. That being said, just because something is more expensive, doesn't make it better. Personally, I would feel more comfortable doing it with the more expensive one only because you said the other one is not it a hospital. Like others have said, go with your gut, if you find the cheaper doctor is good and has good reviews, experience, etc. after doing all your research and you trust him, go for it but, don't choose him for the sole reason that he is cheaper.

That happened to me too... I actually had SUPER dry skin, I had to change my facial moisturizer & lotion because the ones I used before were not enough... Wonder what would cause the oily vs dry skin...?

No support from Gynecologist!
Skinnypie replied to sheree212's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sorry you got that response frome her... As others have said, not everyone will agree and many are not informed... My OBGYN is actually the reason I had my surgery, we had a long talk about my weight and his concerns about my fertility since I was recently married and he referred me to my surgeon... Good luck!! I hope you Have lots of success and give her a real example of wls... As they say, success is the best "revenge" -
Soo exciting!! Good luck!!

One of my fabe every day snacks is pepperoni chips... I take the 17 slices (1 serving) of boar's head turkey pepperoni and place them between 2 paper towels so they are not touching and pop them in the microwave for 30-60 seconds (depending on your microwave) and they come out crispy like potato chips....So Good!! I recently read someone uses Light creamy Swiss laughing cow cheese (only 35 calories a wedge!) for dipping ... The whole thing is 105 calories and 12 grams of protein

I didn't have to do a pre-op diet, my Doctor just said not to eat anything after midnight the night before & my surgery was at 7:30 am

Liquid Diet Requirement
Skinnypie replied to chocolate_macchiato's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon didn't really set a "goal weight" but I would say 100- 115 lbs away from my starting weight would probably be ideal
