    November 19Th- Officially

Hey Yall....I have only lost 8 pounds since surgery. I am happy with that I gained 8 after surgery, i also had Shrek hands but they are back to normal. I am having problems with acid reflux. I dont have trouble getting my soups down but seem like i burp alot and at night when i lay down stuff comes back up in my throat. Hate that. I am getting bored with soups...I licked peanut butter off a spoon tonight...figured couldnt hurt me im not even getting 600 cals a day right now....anxious to move forward.
  3. very but remember everyone is different. the majority of people here though i think would say yes. i am 9 days post op and served tennis balls to my son for about a half hour today n cleaned out my car...so yeah i think its possible. good luck!
  4. On my second week of liquids and although I am not really hungry I am bored with options. Another user had posted a website for snack ideas on here and I jotted it down. Was looking on it a few days ago and saw the Soup recipe. I love spicy, I love Tex-mex. This is soup is not my traditional recipe but that takes time and I know is too spicey for me right now. This recipe is fast using all canned Soups and can be frozen easily. Drinking some right now...might be a little spicy for the first week but i am first drank this on day 7 with no trouble. There are lots of recipes on this site and she give full nutrtion counts. Enjoy! http://www.emilybites.com/2010/12/chicken-tortilla-soup.html#more
  5. ...one more place where there are some recipes is at http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/?m=1 i wish i knew who to give credit foe me finding this but was someone here...has some good ideas.
  6. Sorry forgot to mention....for liquid stage leave out the chicken and might want to use onion powder instead of onion. You can add those back when youe on pureed foods i would imagine:)
  7. lol@iggychic...have never though about my boobs being bigger than my stomach but thanks, I have a new goal to add:) Way to go steelergirl...you keep up the good work! Looking good!
  8. I have a question to all of you wonderful vsg veterans...when you started eating normal foods where you more concerned about the carbs or the calories. I was looking , planning on what kind of things I will take to eat when I start eating regular foods. One of the things I was looking at was the Starkist tuna salad pouch, even though t is only 200 calories it has 12 carbs but basically is a healthy lunch. Thats just an example but there are many lil scenarios like that. I pretty much thought that as long as you get your Protein in and basically stay away from sweets we can eat like anyone else.
  9. Oh i love cheez-its too...and cheetos which with the band i could eat as much as i wanted. With the band i learned not to eat with my meals so that wont be a problem. Good to know i wont totally have to give up hamburgers:) Congratulations on maintaining...i admire all you guys who have stuck with it because i do know its just a tool but i feel like its a good one:)
  10. I took two weeks because i could but honestly i could had gone back to work already. I chose not to because i work at a place we are constantly getting food and i thought it would be too hard on the liquids stage...i will start purees the day i return to work so will be fine. I also went from a band to a sleeve....wish id known about the sleeve 7 years ago except at that time i think it was part of a two part surgery and then they saw the sleeve part was sufficient. I hated the band...lost 70 gained 50 back...theyd fill my band id get sick, unfill it id gain weight. What a pain...one week out and already lovin the sleeve. Thats just my experience. Good Luck!
  11. doesnt greek yougurt have alot of carbs....what kind do you get? I am excited about learning to eat from scratch. Today is day 8 post-op and I am having a lil cravings and my stomach is growling but still on liquids....I did have 2 cups of egg drop soup but over an hour...all i can do is liquids right now...never thought i would look forward to pureed food...
  12. On the way home from my first post-op visit stopped and got myself a stick blender then by my favorite Chinese Resteraunt and picked up egg drop soup. Stick blender did wonders and I my tummy did a happy dance! Things are looking up yall!!!

  13. oh holli we must have posted at the same time....i like your plan....i think i could stay within 40 carb lim. most days...especially since i wont be able to sit down and eat a whole anything anymore...do you guys feel like your sleeve still controls your portion limits well?
  14. Thank you all,,,,i was planning on doing the calorie thing and staying between 800-1000 but i would like to be able to have whole wheat crackers on occasion or not worry if i take a bite or two of potato if we have roast on a sunday...i was wondering what others did though.
  15. I understand your hesitations it is a big decision. I had a band for 5 years....basically i lost 28 pounds....well i lost more but gained all but 28 pounds back. With the band I could not eat healthy foods, like chicken, healthy vegetables...what could i eat...things that where bad for me bacause those food melt in your mouth so where just empty calories. The surgery for the lap band to me was nothing...I will admit it has been much harder this time but remember i had a band removed and so there was scar tissue etc. you would not have to deal with. I can already tell for me this is going to be a much better choice. As far as what if you got stomach cancer....well the odds are probably against that but i go to church with a lady who had her stomach removed and she does fine. You can live without it...I dont know you so dont know your spiritual beliefs...if it was me...well it was me i prayed and put it in Gods hands...I dont think you can go wrong with the sleeve the band however I dont recommend as far as personal experience. My doctor also has gotten away from it...just doesnt seem to have a great rate of success...good luck in your decision.

    Help!

I gained 8 pounds in fluid after my surgery lost that and now one week post op ive only lost 5...was wanting big ole numbers as well but in reality a body can only burn up so much fat....we dont want to lose muscle:) Just dont get too discouraged and be sure to go to a local support group if you have one. Everything will pick up:)
  17. What a difference, wow! Keep up the great work...your looking amazing! Congratulations!

    Just Made Teryaki Turkey Burgers

i like she uses chicken thighs in some of her recipes because breast i cant handle. Course that was with the band maybe with the sleeve i will be able to eat chicken breast. Good luck let us know how it goes!
  19. me too...im bottom heavy for sure but i know you can do it! Yeah definately going to work on my fluid intake...is hard...i see the doc teusday and i am going to ask for something to help with nausea and reflux and i should be fine. Thanks for the encouragement.
  20. ...just was sleeved monday so not alot of advice, still searching it out myself but it isnt that bad. Good luck, just really follow your preop diet:)
  21. wow...look at you, your beautiful. I am so excited to start losing. Im a little dissapointed because a week postop i am back to what i was b4 surgery....i gained 8 lbs of fluid...i am having trouble getting my fluids down because of pain and reflux but i pray that is temporary. One thing in your pick i really noticed also was your arms look good not flabby....thats great...you should be proud,

    Just Made Teryaki Turkey Burgers

sounds good until you add pureed to it...how was it? I just dont know if i could handle the texture of pureed meat...i get the image of regurgitated hamburger but hey...Im only one week post op so another week of nothing but liquid i probably would eat anything pureed.
  24. All your gb is, is a storage house for the digestive enzyme your liver produces. I would imagine that if for some reason your gb is not emptying out when you eat that it could cause the same symptoms as gallstones that you described. They can easily test you for that...having your gb out is a piece of cake compared to the sleeve...I cleaned out my garage 2 days after having mine out...you dont need it so if it is causing trouble best part with it. Good luck on whatever you do.
