  1. You are a sleeve rock star! What a brave and strong person you are...and a darn good example to your kids. Kudos!
  2. Prayers coming your way. You were strong enough to make this decision - you have the strength to get through this part. You will be on the losers bench soon and life will get better and better. I'll join you on Tuesday.
  3. Tuesday morning for me too! I agree with the split between excited and nervous. From what I read, it's normal. Do you want to communicate with friends and family while in the hospital? Don't forget the charger(s) for your device(s). Also, remember comfy, easy-to-get-into slippers for all the walking we will do every hour. Good Luck fellow December 11th sleevers. See you on the losers bench :-)
  4. I'm surprised I'm doing as well as I am. I'm a little hungry most of the time but it isn't so bad that I think of not being on the diet. My diet is low calorie high protein prepared foods from my surgeons office. I wouldn't choose it on my own but eating every 2 hours or so is keeping me from eating the wallpaper LOL. I'll probably long for this food in a couple of weeks when I'm on all liquids.
  5. My surgery is 11 days away and although I seem calm on the surface my emotions are all over the place inside. I am anxious about how it will feel to swallow. That's the one thing that can't be worked out mentally. I can't predict the physical. Also, I haven't been "small" since my 30's. It's hard to even visualize. Deep breath...Believe
  6. I'm on day 5 and have lost 5. a5paintball20, you rock!
  7. I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 11 and I keep reading that people find the first days, weeks, months "rough". What did that term mean for you (those who have been sleeved)?
  8. mokee, I'm 67 and I'm with you on wanting to have active years coming up. I love my life and I want to live it well. I dread vomiting/dry heaving - I've had heavy pain and think I have the experience to handle that. Thank you, everyone for responding, it helps!
  9. That is very cool, Stacy. What a gift to have your longest known and loved friend go through it with you. Excellent!
  10. Those of us with two weeks are trying not to be jealous. I'm trying, I'm trying, I'm trying...
  11. Now we are 6. It's a great motivator when the doctor says, "Stay on the plan and lose weight or the will be no surgery". Got my attention!
  12. Love your picture tuturunner! Welcome to the Dec 11 gang, started by a5paintball20. I think we're 4 now.
  13. Mine isn't a liquid diet. Mine is a prepackaged diet of 3 meals and 3 snacks (some shakes and soups included) totaling 800 calories purchased at my surgeon's office. It's not all that tasty but may be marginally better than all liquids.
  14. I'm taking one day at a time, thanks for the encouragement. Whether 2 days or 2 weeks we're both going to do fine on December 11th.
  15. I was answering thread starter's question. My surgery is Dec. 11 too. Am on the 2nd day of a two week pre-op diet. I think it weakens and bores you into not being nervous about the surgery. Fiendish plan!

    Michigan Sleevers

Welcome, Daisy! This forum is a great source of "real people" information. You ask a question and there always someone who has an answer. If you need to rant, cheer or need a shoulder to cry on, there is someone (or many) who will be there for you.
  17. OK, I got my surgery date...December 11! Now it's real for me. How are you guys handling the anticipation? What's your pre-op routine? I start a Liquid diet on Nov. 26. I get a "normal" Turkey day but Christmas will be liquid. Thanksgiving seems to be more of an eating day in my family than Christmas so I think I will be just fine. Maybe I will let everyone else wait on me for a Christmas present. That would be a first for this big time mom and grandma :-)

    5 Months Sleeved

Now your grin is bigger than you are. Good job!
  19. Hey, new zealander - 12/11 me too. Let's keep this December thread going so that we can keep up with each other. Support for all!
  20. Surgery coming on Dec. 11. I am worried about the leak test. I have heard horror stories about people who vomit during it. I have COPD and when anything gets caught in my throat, I have a terrible coughing fit. Between the fear of aspirating or just vomiting all over myself, I freaked. Your experience, please :-)
  21. Thank you all for your thoughtful and caring answers. I had never heard of a surgeon doing a leak test after the surgery, while in the operating room so I will ask my doctor about that. I have had all kinds of digestive procedures (having IBS) it's the vomiting that concerns me. My daughter had RNY and she was tilted all over the place during her leak test and vomited 3 times much to the tech's shock.
  22. Dec.11 for me. 2 week liquid diet Monday after Thanksgiving. I think it will be liquids on Christmas too but that's ok. All the new clothes under the tree next year will be worth much more than food - it will mean I am healthier and in control of my destiny.
