    why do people hide it?

Oh they would so get a none of your business from me. No one once asked me anything like that. How dare they police you??? On the other hand I think sometimes people are just curious and it comes across so very rude.

    why do people hide it?

This sums up my life. I have never had issues or shame about my weight even at 375 lbs. I also have been really fortunate and blessed to have excellent family, friends, etc. I've found so much support by telling people, but I do know that may be uncommon. Literally every day someone (work and personal life) walks up and compliments me on the fact that I was "so brave/lucky/etc" to have gone through with the surgery. I've also become the sleeve expert because I'm "the only" person many people know who had the sleeve instead of the band/RnY. This journey (dealing with people) has been amazing and encouraging. I really wish I too could share my support system with others that don't have it. It is what helps me get through the tough days when my sleeve decides it hates everything I try to eat.

    Artificial sweetners

My Dr/Nut told me that we could not have regular sugar anything. I was told it had to be sugar free or nothing. Please check with your Nut/Dr. I understand how the taste is, but there are a few sugar free items that don't use splenda and some of the other popular sweeteners. Check sites like Netrition and Amazon for some alternatives. The key is to try not to consume any sugar if possible.
  4. Oh wow, I've never heard this. You guys taught me something new. Every time I lose lots of weight I get the oh wow you look taller. I have heard of the feet getting smaller, but I wonder if that is the width. I already have pretty narrow feet so I'm not holding my breath. Anyone over 6 ft feel look/shorter? I would love to hear from people who are already really tall.

    Protein Fatigue

I second this. Even if you are doing a low carb plan (most of us are I believe), you still need some carbs, esp if you are working out. If you're Protein is low, (normally I feel hungry but not tired) I like the plan of getting more in early in the day. That way you have upped your chances of meeting your needs for the day. Edit: if your

    Fresh fruits and veggies post-op

It's mostly Water so my Dr told me that was one of the first fruits I could try. But I don't like watermelon so I haven't. However I do know a couple post-ops who lived by the stuff by week 8.

    Fresh fruits and veggies post-op

I'm almost 10 weeks and tried shaved cabbage. It was a tough ride down my tummy. So go slow when you do try new veggies again.

    My husband is killing me!

Thanks for that. I can't imagine swallowing gum...but it's so true, anything consumable you put in your mouth you have the potential to swallow.

    Vitamin frustration

Oh wow, I'll ask about that next visit with my Dr.

    Vitamin frustration

I do. Every AM (early or I'll be up all night).
  11. Basically that while it is not common it is also something they see from time to time with post-ops. Right now, they have me just avoid the foods that trigger me. Unfortunately it can be a food that is safe today and then tomorrow keep me running to the bathroom. I have had to go back a stage a few times to reintroduce foods. My Dr thinks within another week I see should much less vomiting. So, I'm holding out hope for that.

    How much time off?

I was told to not lift more than 10 lbs for at least 4 weeks. A busy/moving/wiggly toddler, I'd imagine feels many pounds more than they actually weigh. Consider starting to train him to climb in and out of the crib with maybe a step stool. I did that with my twins being that it was 2 of them and combined they were HEAVY (that was pre-op). One word of advice...don't forget and leave the step stool in there...oh the stories I could tell being sleep deprived and forgetting that stool.

    Running with a pannus.... Ugh.

A large roll of abdominal fat which can extend anywhere from the genitals to, in some cases, all the way past the knees. - dictionary

    Lap scars

We were told a month or until they were healed (completely). Also coconut oil is good for scars. I used that after my c-section and you can't see my scars (7 years ago) at all.

    Liquid diet before surgery?

Also, be careful about stocking up too much on 1 brand of protein. For many of us our tastes change and I stocked up (despite what I read here) and wasted money. I could not do any of them post-op.

    help

My local GNC and Vitamin Shoppe have many coffee protein powders. I don't know about Fit Frappe but I do know they have Click and some others.
  17. You did great really quickly. Don't have any food suggestions but wanted to say congrats on the excellent weight loss!

    need recipe help...

I'm on solids but that sounds good. I love zucchini (courgette).
  19. This so much explains my situation...except I do throw up. Most all of the "safe" foods are not safe for me. I was sooo disappointed to not be able to do yogurt and some of the other go-to foods.
  20. My Nut/Dr said the same thing. Post-op we don't hold on long enough to food long enough to dissolve the gummies. In fact, I was told no gummies every for Vitamins because the length to break them down even years out tends to be much longer than other types of food/vit. Edit: don't hold on to food long enough...no gummies ever Apparently I'm losing my mind today.

    Soft foods after a week

I haven't heard of that but there are so many Drs and plans. I would say that I hear more often that people lag in an earlier stage than excel to the next one early. I would say, you know your body. Don't ignore what your Nut/Dr tell you, but if you have problems moving forward then feel free to prolong your time on an earlier stage. This is pretty dangerous as I think about it more because you could really hurt yourself moving forward too quickly.

    Running with a pannus.... Ugh.

I use squeem garments. They are really good (and quite fitting) I have not experienced roll ups/downs since I started wearing them. They are fabric on one side and rubber on the other. Also, their sizes are great (they had my size even at 375 lbs.). If you do buy...try ebay or Amazon...avoid their website at all cost or you'll pay like twice. I especially love their vest. I liked that I could wear a reg or sports bra (of my choice) and still wear the garment.

    Weight dain during period

Don't get discouraged. I've told my story so many times to people because I have the super stall going on. Been sleeved 9 weeks with 7 of those in a stall. Following all the directions given by my Nut and Dr. It's a running joke because I'm now smaller (size) at this weight than I was when I weighed 50 lbs less. I'm starting to consider running off to the circus because there is no way a woman my height and weight should be in such a small size.

Can't I just hit the stupid people?

Good for you! I don't take crappy service. I am so glad you said something because just imagine how many times she's said that to someone. People in service (and yes I worked in retail during college) should understand every time someone walks in a store, it is not for them. That is the fastest way to lose a sell. Wow...just wow! Now think of all the money you would've spent over time if only she had thought BEFORE she spoke. They lost out big time.
  25. My Dr had me start b-12 (I take either liquid or the dissolving tablets) once a day. If I take it in the AM, I'm good literally all day. I can certainly tell the days I miss my dose.
