I am 10 weeks out and have been stalled twice for a total of 8 weeks. I've lost tons of inches though so I'm not at all upset by the scale not moving. The thing is I look and feel so much better. I'm enjoying this process even though it is not at all what I expected.

I agree with the posters above that you will feel restriction as you move toward solids. Still, you need to get in the habit of drinking slowly. I am unlike many and get big restriction even with liquids. I've been nursing my iced chai tea for almost an hour and I'm only half done of those 12 oz. Water is a bit more easily for me to get down but thicker liquids take time. You're still very newly sleeved so go slow. You may feel like you have no restriction but between the soreness, swelling, and meds, you can hurt your tummy and not even know it.

Can you see any difference?

You look awesome, great job!! Much much smaller. -
How many incisions did your surgeon make?
TwinsMama replied to ScottsGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have 5 and only 2 are noticiable at 10 weeks out. I expect they'll heal, I mean my c-section scars are pretty much invisible and they took 2 big full term babies out of there. 1 incision is amazing...never heard of that. -

You sound like you're on track. Of course if you can get more cals in that would be good. All of us are different. I've been stalled now for almost 8 of my 10 weeks. However I'm getting great inch loss. Most of us stall some time in the first few weeks. Normally most people see the scale move after a week or 2. I'm apparently a stall over achiever. Keep doing what you're doing as far as Protein, cals, and low carbs and you should do great.

So sorry you're going through this. Try your best to get your paperwork submitted in time. Also, if you can hand deliver, that would be good. I had to end up doing that a couple times because paperwork got lost, never sent, etc. Hang in there and best wishes!!

Maybe see if you can do a half day tomorrow. The first couple of days back were the worst for me. I have a long commute by public transit. I could not wait to get back to my car and get home. Hope you feel better and if you find you don't by tomorrow, maybe call your Dr.

Can you sleeve leak after 2-3 month post op
TwinsMama replied to puchy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh okay, well if you had a leak you'd most likely have a fever and pains in other places (not just your stomach). Hope you feel better soon! If you still feel this way tomorrow, maybe call your Dr just in case. -
To ignore or grin and bear my 90 year old grandmother

This so much...people who hurt others do it because it is about them and their "issues" not the person they hurt. You manage to be very insightful about this whole situation...kudos to you!! As for the crying, that drives me insane. I had to once tell someone, you don't get to cry when you hurt me AND you don't get to decide how long I get to be mad about what YOU did. Crying is often used as a means to control and throw the other person off. Don't let her do that. I'm so glad you're able to be objective and see all this manipulation for what it is. -
I can all of a sudden eat more at 5 wks post op...Im scared....
TwinsMama replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful with this. At 2 weeks your stomach is still very raw, most of us think we can eat a lot but really due to meds, swolen stomachs, etc, we don't feel how we are really hurting our healing process. -

TwinsMama replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, as your stomach heals (swelling decreases) you'll have more capacity. As long as you keep track, you should be fine. In the end, it's really a weekly numbers game more than a daily game. Some days will be up and others down. So long as your choices are good and you are only eating until satisfied and not full, you should be okay. -
Can you sleeve leak after 2-3 month post op
TwinsMama replied to puchy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my Dr that a sleeve can leak within 6 months. The reason is that it is still healing until that time (sometimes longer) and that as swelling goes down, leaks can become more visible. I haven't found anyone here (that I remember) having a leak later on. -
Excellent...good for you. You made a lot of healthy choices.

2 Questions about Protein Drinks
TwinsMama replied to Bea Amaya's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Also, (hit post too soon) I was told to still hold off drinking other liquids (water, gatorade, etc) for the same 30 minutes I would solid foods. To allow the protein drinks to fully digest. -
2 Questions about Protein Drinks
TwinsMama replied to Bea Amaya's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My Dr/Nut told me that protein drinks count as a meal. I was also told that since the protein in the drinks is so concentrated, we are actually getting our amounts as indicated by the different protein drinks. -
Every plan is different... I'm almost 10 weeks post-op. I shoot for 800-1000 cals a day. I NEVER get past about 850 for some reason...oh yeah my little tummy. But I'm working on getting more cals a day since I'm beefing up my workouts.

To ignore or grin and bear my 90 year old grandmother
TwinsMama replied to BKLYNgal87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hate that people who treat others bad, still get allowances to treat others bad. You should certainly NOT feel guilty about not keeping in contact with abusive people. It makes me so angry that we women (usually it is us) are taught to "keep the peace, play nice, forgive" even the worst people. Why would it would be so bad to cut them off? People treat us how they are allowed (by us) to treat us. As a child we unfortunately don't have any choice usually in the matter. However as a grown woman, I've cut toxic people out of my life and I sleep awesomely at night for it. My Dad's family has some of the most negative people on the planet. Those that are toxic I don't have any association with (I figured this out as a young teenager). Sure I see them from time to time but on MY TERMS. I learned a long time ago that not everyone blood relation is family. I get to choose who I let in my life and I take that choice very seriously. I hope your family member comes around, if not, do what you need to do to be healthy physically and mentally. Ok stepping off my Women's Empowerment Soapbox. -
To ignore or grin and bear my 90 year old grandmother
TwinsMama replied to BKLYNgal87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My friend went through this her whole life with her Dad. So nope, not just a Jewish thing. Her Dad always gave her a hard way to go because she was the only one of her siblings to not ever be thin. She is shaped EXACTLY like her Mom, who her Dad adores but he never saw that. I mean they could be twins really. He used the "no child of a military man should be overweight". For YEARS she has been in therapy. She had the sleeve surgery this year and realized, no matter what, he would always have something to find to say unkind to her. So, she stopped engaging with him. Sure she loves him and her Mom but she limits the time she spends around him. I watched her over the years go to much darker places because of him. Finally she decided it was enough and she is literally thriving. OP, I really hope you can find your strength to just disengage. I think it would be so helpful for you overall. -
How fast did you get to goal?
TwinsMama replied to misslady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey Soror! I think everyone is different. I know my Dr initially thought I'd lose most of my weight by the 6 month mark...I've been stalled for 7 of my almost 10 weeks so I'm sure I won't make that. I have seen where some of those with less to lose make it in 6 months or less. -
Recommendations for a gummy multivitamin
TwinsMama replied to GBFree82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto. The length it takes to absorb a gummy as opposed to other types is much longer and our tummies simply don't get it all absorbed. I take Flinstone complete. Still not the most tasty but it is better than any of the many bariatric ones I've tried. -
See if someone else you know (not in the wedding party) can bring your shake with you. The thing I find really funny is that for many of us we spent so long dieting that we forget to use that as an excuse. When I traveled while I was on my 2 week pre-op diet, I just told people, I couldn't eat certain things because I was on a diet. That was the truth and since people knew I was having surgery, they didn't think anything of it. Not sure if you've ever been on a diet and told anyone...but if you have, just say that and sip away. Plus, most people I know (even thin ones) tend to diet around the time they are in a wedding. I doubt anyone thinks twice.

Pre-VSG lack of support from parents
TwinsMama replied to jenRRT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These two sentences are the bottom line. Your Mom (may be worried) but she is not willing to do this to help her own health. She may resent that you are braver/more determined/etc than she is. You having the surgery may sink her ship in terms of excuses or fear. She may secretly wonder if you can do it, why can't she pull the trigger and do it? Also, some people are just plain critical. If she critizes everything you do...why on earth would this be different? Think long and hard about keeping her clued into what you're doing. If she is just going to cause drama and headache, let your hubby be your support system. The last thing you'll need post-op when you're trying to heal is your Mom driving you insane. Keeping up with all the to-dos post-op will do that enough. Best wishes to you!! -
Thanksgiving is going to be very different this year!
TwinsMama replied to SleeveE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree...no eating in front of TV, PC, and on phone (oh it can be done). I've found by really paying attention, I eat soooo much less (as if I could eat a lot post-op). -
why do people hide it?
TwinsMama replied to KayCTheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This makes me soooo mad. I'm so sorry you're going through this. What they are doing to you is not right and doesn't help you. I would simply tell them the discussion is over and off limits. PERIOD. I hope things get better and some other scandal happens so you don't have to deal with this drama.
