Oh yes this! I should plug that into MFP all this time!

About 2-3 oz. Not much, but I am literally downing Water ALL DAY LONG. I spend my time, drinking, eating, Vitamins, and bathroom. I also don't have any poop problems because I am washing all this out. It is tough. But I make between 600-800 cals and most of my protein. I don't do any Protein Shakes because I can't tolerate them. That could also be why I'm staying full longer - solid protein.

Were you put on an eating plan of Protein then veggies then fruit then carbs? If so, are/did you follow the plan? Did you have a pre-op plan that you had to follow? Edit: Also, how much protein, calories, Water are you getting daily?

need more than a spoonfull :(
TwinsMama replied to Emilysmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr said don't expect to eat that much until almost a year out. At least 6 months but probably a year. Have you tried pureeing your Protein again? Maybe that will help you get more down. -
Nausea & Vomiting - 9 Days PostOp
TwinsMama replied to miss_cee85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My PPIs certainly helped with nausea but I still get it. I would say, be sure to get your liquids in. If you can't keep down the Protein right now, just focus on the liquids. Then, once you get your liquids under control try a few different Proteins. To be honest, I still can't do protein. So, I feel your pain with that. Hopefully you'll find one that works for you. -
This is why I had to leave my last gym. I was there to actually you know, work out. All the "social hour" types would talk so loud during the classes you couldn't hear the instructor. It drove me crazy. Then, they would all stay for hours...not working out...SITTING on the equipment talking and sipping Water. I mean really?!?! Oh the looks they'd give when you asked them to move; and they'd stand there watching you until you were done so they could sit back down. I still remember thinking, why hang out at the gym??? Oh and BTW, it was an all women's gym and these were the married ladies, so who the HECK were they trying to impress dressing alike and wearing full makeup?!?

My Dr said no rice EVER. It expands and is not good for you anyway.

Looking good!!

It's about being healthy. Most of us fear what we don't know/understand. I understand he may be nervous and a tad jealous but if you need this surgery to make the lasting changes that will keep you here for your kids, you know what you need to do. It can be hard when a partner doesn't "get It' but you'll have support here. I'm rooting for you to keep going and hopefully once you start losing, he will get on board. Hugs to you!!

Welcome!!

You're right nothing will cure the skin...but some things can at least help it "look" better. I've seen people experience healthier skin that appears much firmer. No, it won't take the place of a tummy tuck, but it has a better look/feel to it.

I own my own skin care company and have helped lots of people with skin issues. I've found for saggy and ultimately dry skin it helps to do something at both the cleansing and moisturizing stages. For cleansing use a scrub. Scrubs help get rid of the dead top layer of skin and also help to break down more fat. Scrub in circular motion starting from the feet up to your face/head. Plus a brush as opposed to a puff or rag works better. I've found Tree Hut brand works great and they are not that expensive. For moisturizer I'd say if you're not into making any products, use something with Q10. Nivea has a great Q10 lotion I've used. It's not that thick so it works on really hot days when you don't want to sweat oil. Now, I make most of my own skin care products: An easy scrub to make: 1 cup (coarse sugar or salt), 1/2 cup almond or coconut oil, 1/4 cup glycerine, any essential oil for fragrance. An easy skin moisturizer I make: 1/4 cup coconut oil, 1 T Vitamin E, 2 T avacado oil, essential oil for fragrance (I usually use peppermint). Now this can get really greasy really quick, so if you can buy a lotion or thick cream with Q10, you can pour the oils into the lotion to cut the greasy feel. Hope these help!

Stalls: Just because I get it doesn't mean I have to like it
TwinsMama commented on gamergirl's blog entry in Gamergirl's Blog
Stalls are horrible. Initially (before I saw inches coming off), I thought I MUST be doing something wrong. Had to be, why else would I not lose weight for so long. I think stalls are so bad because you can know (logically) you're doing everything "right" but emotionally you "feel" there has to be something you're doing wrong. Stalls create this epic battle between your emotions and your logic. -
What made you decide on VSG vs. other surgeries?
TwinsMama replied to Scylla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Yes, they are. It really does help to walk walk walk. Make sure you're keeping up with your fluids too. If Water is difficult on its own, make sure you add some MiO or Crystal Light to get it down. Hang in there, it gets better!

7 weeks out and still feeling sick
TwinsMama replied to bettyb71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had nausea since surgery 10 weeks ago. Some things I've found...even if he throws up, don't drink anything for that 30 minutes at least. I would try and drink to get rid of the awful taste and it would prolong my nausea. Also, it is best to do like we do with babies...try one new food for a few days, then move on to the next. Even if you think today you can have X tomorrow you may not be able to tolerate it. Eat and drinkly as sloooooowly as possible. As someone said above, sometimes slow is just not slow enough. Also, check the Protein he's eating/drinking. He may find that he is lactose or has some other intolerances. Try to eat undistracted. What I found is that my nausea didn't really sneak up on me. If I was eating alone I could tell almost instantly when something was not right. BUT when I ate with someone it was harder to tell I was getting sick until I was running to the bathroom. Most of all...get him to the Dr. Remind him this is like buying a car, you wouldn't just not take your new car to the shop if it stopped running. Why on earth do this with your health? If the Dr messed up, s/he sure better fix it. The only way to do that is to go there and demand it. He still has life, so make sure he doesn't lose it over something that may be treatable. -
So...what does YOURS feel like?
TwinsMama replied to Karnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get a knot in my chest, then I get the burps or hiccups. If I eat to quickly I jump straight to hiccups/burps. When I eat slowly I feel the chest first. -
Daily calorie intake 1 1/2 post op
TwinsMama replied to future's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told when I get there I should consume 1,000-1,200 cal a day. Still at least 80-90g Protein, and Water at least 64 oz with a goal of up to 1/2 my body weight. I'm sure some of the Vets will weigh in. -
My B-I-L (no WLS) juices. He has had really great results...compared to the high fatty foods he ate before he juiced. However, I asked my Dr about juicing and she said no fruits just veggies and after I met my Protein goal. Well at this point that sounds impossible since I barely make my protein each day. No room for juice and veggies with no fruits...yuck. And that is someone that loves veggies in solid form. I'm not sure it would make much sense for a post-op unless you're wayyy out and are meeting every other goal. From what I've read/heard, juicing keeps you full a long time. So that too may prevent you from meeting your protein goals if you have no appetite.

What exactly is a slow loser?
TwinsMama replied to Bronco0605's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ME!! Well to me a slow loser is someone who loses less than 1-2 lbs a week. So far most of the posts I've read and what my Dr told me is that seems to be the standard weight loss. So people who lose less than that a week. -
would you like some cheese with that wine?
TwinsMama commented on Elliejmiller's blog entry in Elliejmiller's Blog
Hold tight the scale will move. I've been stalled for 8 of my 10 weeks but like you the inches are coming off. People still notice I'm losing (need to hear that since I've been stalled so long). Hugs to you and congrats on getting out there and starting your softball team! -
Congrats on your weight loss!!

We went on vacation during mine and my hubby was waiting to go to his fave restaurant...a world famous large buffet. Literally rooms of food. I drank nothing but my Protein shake and kept busy by talking to people at the tables around us (they started the convos...so no I wasn't bothering anyone). I made it and I know you will too. Come back to this site if you start to feel yourself getting tempted. We're rooting for you!!
