Do Non-Sleevers Eat This Much Protein?
TwinsMama replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too mostly. I don't mind cheese and seafood but I get tired of them both sometimes. I've done protein shakes for years because I get tired of chewing and don't always have time to sit and eat. I think the liquid diet (if I can still do almond milk) will be the easiest part for me. -

Back To Work
TwinsMama replied to PerfectlyImperfect's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said he'd like us to take off as long as possible up to our full 6 week limits. I want to take no more than 2 weeks. How long do most Sleevers take? I've seen the range so far is 1 week to a few weeks. The 6 weeks is a first I've seen. -
Skinny Women Are Evil

What a piece of work! She is obviously jealous that you are getting attention (and maybe that you'll take her assumed crown for hottest in the office). Don't even listen to her crap. I LOVE what Bunny did. That was a good laugh to get me through the rest of my day! -
Do Non-Sleevers Eat This Much Protein?
TwinsMama replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on the person's goal/ diet plan. When I did low carb and lost a ton of weight, I was eating high Protein. I have a friend who lost weight with South Beach and ate not quite as much protein as I did on Atkins. My friends who lost weight on Weight Watchers ate a lot of protein but not as much as those of us on low carb. I do know that my friends that lost and kept it off (various different methods/diets) are all high protein eaters. They tend to average roughly (they measure in oz) 12-16 oz or more of protein daily. So depending on the source, that can be a lot of protein. -
Sowing My Royal Oates!

Absolutely normal to feel this way. Thus the many spouses who don't want their husbands/wives to have this surgery. It is especially hard if you've never been thin before. Be honest but not cruel. What you don't say...now that I've got my sexy back, I want options including those that may look better than you. What you do say...you are not ready to be in a committed relationship (if that's the truth) but that you wouldn't mind still seeing her (also if the truth). Do not, continue to be the same, saying you want something different. This is only going to confuse her and cause drama down the line. Give her the opportunity to make a choice to be with or without you. She may be fending off offers too. Now I do have to say, give real thought to what Cami said above. If she was willing and even found you attractive before the weight loss, you know she is really into you. I've seen this happen with myself and a few friends, we lost the weight everyone wanted us, then over time, we realized it was mostly about how we looked and not who we were. Waste of time and relationships. Take your time and enjoy your new life. Be honest and things will work themselves out one way or another. -
Congrats!

Saving Them? Or Saving Us?
TwinsMama commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weight
I am so a dog person too. I grew up with labs and a retriever so I know how playful and loving labs are. I had a roommate that had (over the course of my living there) 3 cats. One was named Bandit. He sounds like your cat Hunter, he loved nothing more than to scratch people. Though he never got me...thank God! Bandit (not sure if Hunter is this way) didn't want to be held. He was more independent. The only time he ever tried to cuddle was the day I moved out. I guess he knew we wouldn't see each other again for a while. -
I've noticed something and I can't quite figure it out. Every AM (usually around 7) for breakfast I have a protein shake (Syntrax Nectar) in which I add - Greek yogurt, 1 c. almond milk, 1 Del-Monte fruit cup. I blend and then sip (yes still this is a challenge). This keeps me full all AM (even through my commute where I walk and stand a lot). Usually by the time I feel hungry it is between 12:15 - 12:30 PM. However, I've tried having the same thing for lunch and it is a no go. If I have the shake for lunch (12:30 PM) I am literally starving by 3 PM. I'm not sure why this doesn't keep me full in the afternoon. I'd like to get to the point where I can do 2 shakes and a small dinner. I like the feeling after the shake (feel satisfied but not weighed down) but it is such a no go twice in one day. Anyone experience this? Any suggestions? I'm not trying to do this every day, but on my busy days I just don't always have time for a full sit down lunch.

Protein Shakes & Feeling Full
TwinsMama commented on TwinsMama's blog entry in Learning to be a Type A-
Good idea to eat a meal at lunch and shake for dinner. There are about 34 carbs in the shake. That could be high. I normally do peaches (keep me full longer than strawberries my fave). I'll play around with not adding the fruit and see what happens. My Nut told me to eat at least 3 servings of fruit a day so I've been trying to add them to something so I don't get bored. -

I literally almost spit out my Water when I read this...love it! For me: yup, the skinny sex would be nice paying less for clothes being able to fit more clothes in a suitcase when I travel my flexibility back - I was more flexible at a smaller size (see #1) more energy people not recognizing me (I'm really social so it would be fun to spark up a conversation with friends I haven't seen in a while and them not realize its me at first) -
Congrats!

Counting The Days And It's Soon!

Congrats! Ummmm, does she know it is WLS? She does understand you won't be able to eat those meals right? In a way that's kind of funny. Let her plan to her hearts content...just lest everyone else know you'd prefer privacy and not meals at this time. -

Good for you for going. Maybe the next time will be better. Congrats on over 40 lbs down! You're doing great! -
Good idea. High protein foods are a good option. I haven't had jerky in forever. I'm going to check that out.

I didn't bring my lunch to work today. I decided I'd go grab something quick to eat. There are tons of choices downtown so I started looking at a few menus online. What was supposed to be a quick and easy choice was a bit tough. The more I looked at menus the more I realized I could not eat half of what was available. Many of the foods I LOVE would result in over half my daily calorie intake. This is why I bring my lunch. I was a bit frustrated. How oh how can a small salad be over 500 calories??? Needless to say, I opted out of eating out. I really want to get some protein in but I just couldn't spend money on something that would not even be within my plan. Instead I grabbed a serving of Special K crackers, and a fruit cup. Do I feel fully satisfied? NOPE! But, I'm not hungry either. There is one more fruit cup here but I'm going to continue drinking my water and try to hold out until I get home. There at least I have healthy snack options. I won't be doing this again. I'm also going to bring some snacks to work so if I happen to forget, I'm not stuck.
