I think I'm going to try them. I am a member of BJs but might have to try Sams or Costco. Since they are the only ones I keep hearing about that I haven't tried, seems worth the investment.

Abdominal exercise- what did your doc say?
TwinsMama replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here, I was cleared at 4 weeks with the understanding that I take it slow until 6-8 weeks out. -
Wow...congrats!!

How much protein do I need a day from a liquid diet?
TwinsMama replied to Sydney Lynn Pinckley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try and get 60-80g. I never make that but that is the goal. Also, you might not need to go on a liquid diet. Our bodies naturally stall for many reasons, so just understand that stalls are a part of the process. Cheri wrote a really good post a while back about how she stalled up to 9 weeks more than once during her journey. It might be worth the read. -
Don't be in too big a hurry to loose, and stay hydrated
TwinsMama replied to Allan Cameron's topic in The Guys’ Room
Hi June Sleeve Buddy (I was the 5th). You are so right, I am a slowww loser but my Dr told me be more concerned with hydration and then Protein and then losses. So yes you are 100% right. Thanks for this great reminder and for serving our country! -
I literally was in a stall for about 4 weeks. I am 7 weeks post-op with almost 200 lbs to lose. I read a post by Cheri where she said how she had stalls of up to 9 weeks more than once. I figured okay I won't complain until I hit a 10 week stall. By staying positive and not getting upset, it kept my very Type A personality in check. I woke up yesterday to a loss of 5 lbs. and today down another 4 lbs. So I figured I'd just embrace my slow losses and stalls.

14 days out going to breakfast with family
TwinsMama replied to Ashlee K's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try some applesauce (be prepared to add a bit of water and take some protein to mix in). During this stage it is tough to eat out. But don't worry it will get better/easier to eat out in time. -
week 1 post op weight
TwinsMama replied to Sams-Queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats, that's amazing! -
Let us know how they work. This is the only one I haven't tried.

The most I'm able to get is 48g. I know that's why my weightloss is slllllooooowwww. But I can't do any protein drinks (they all make me sick). So I have to do food which at 7 weeks is beyond tough.

solid foods....not good
TwinsMama replied to wheeling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel you. I am 7 weeks out and still get sick and vomit. I literally have to relearn how to eat. I eat slowly but most of what I try makes me sick. I miss at least knowing what to avoid, now I can have something one day and the next it has be doubled over the toilet. -
letter to a newbie.....
TwinsMama replied to pottergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I feel for you. I had complications and still can't do liquid Protein over 7 weeks out. I'm now not able to do any milk products and Protein drinks make me throw up (yes, I've tried over 15 kinds, none work). Right now, just work on letting your body heal. It will get better over time. Hugs to you! -

Picking up after Suzy... 9. Don't be surprised when you don't like the drinks/foods you liked pre-op. Our taste buds change. 10. You may feel hunger and it's okay. Some people get hungry while others don't. Your sleeve isn't broken, you're just going to have to deal with hunger. 11. Just because your stomach hurts doesn't mean you have a leak. There are many symptoms of a leak so check those out, before you give yourself a panick attack. 12. Yes in the future you will get to eat and enjoy the foods you miss. You may be surprised that you don't like them as much, but you will get to at least try them again. -
How did you sleep after surgery?
TwinsMama replied to Sydney Lynn Pinckley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the hospital for the first (almost) week. Then I slept in my bed propped up. My hubby brought me a wedge pillow. I would get up and walk almost every 4 hours due to the horrible pain I had. So right as my body was getting uncomfortable, it would be time to walk again. -

I was thinking massage or new hair style. Or maybe a cute make-over. -

My "tight" pants are now loose! Congrats on your sexy leg crossing! -
I started not to post on this because only you know how your marriage is and many people I think give up too soon on their marriages. That said...you have to think of your physical and mental health (and that of your kids if you have any). This surgery will give you much of your life back, but it will also make you much more prone to depression and other problems if you already haven't done the "head work". You will need to decide if your husband is helping or hindering your development. If he is hindering your development, you will need to go to counseling (alone if he won't go) and keep on going until you feel ready to make a decision and stick with it, either way. I believe part of his issue is fear. Our fears (at least as healthy adults) are never really about someone else, they are ours to own and acknowledge. If he is so scared of losing you that he resorts to hurting you (even mentally) you have to decide if you are willing to put yourself at risk for mental abuse because of his issues. I'm all for realizing that people hurt because they are hurt, but you cannot fix his past any more than he can fix yours. He has to want to do better to do better. Please consider the message his behavior sends to you (and your kids if you have any). Do you really want to risk your safety and sanity because he is not willing to take action and fix his issues? If you have kids, do you really want them to treat others/ or be treated the way he treats you? That's really what you need to decide.

Always had a lot of belly fat....it's my body's makeup, does this get better as you lose?
TwinsMama replied to Disco's topic in The Gals' Room
One of my best friends was an apple shape her whole life. Then she had RnY (and worked out 2 hours each day for years) and went from a bulging 24/26 to a 4/6. When she was nearing goal we would laugh because she never had thighs and that is where she seemed to be losing the most. Then all of a sudden she lost much of her tummy. In clothes you don't notice it at all. But naked she has a hanging tummy. She really doesn't mind at this point because it is much more proportioned with her body. Before, she felt she looked bad due to the skinny arms, legs and bulging tummy. -
You can try Vitamin e oil. That helps, also I use coconut oil or olive oil (doesn't smell as nice as coconut oil). I've also made oils and added peppermint, jojaba, and castor oil. These smell good and also are all natural. I don't use most commercial products because of the chemicals.

Recommended products from Amazon Post-Surgery ?
TwinsMama replied to Jeanie S's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great list, the only thing I can add that you won't have to return would be mini muffin tins and mini bread loaf pans. This was a really great list! -
Why do i feel normal
TwinsMama replied to missyjoy2078's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Count your blessings! It is good to have some sense of normal so close to your surgery. Many of us didn't have this benefit. Keep eating as you're supposed to and enjoy the fact that you're healing well. Enjoy the remainder of your sleeve journey. -

Carrying the Kids after surgery
TwinsMama replied to beebs13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are a Super Woman! My Dr told me that until 4 weeks out I could not lift anything heavier than 5-10 lbs. So glad you can lift your baby girl! -
You can find a lot of videos on YouTube that can get you started with weight training. The key is to try and find someone reliable (anyone can post so be careful). If you research well enough, that can at least get you started. I also found that callanetics (?sp) and barre workouts are more my style. I hate to feel like I'm drowning in sweat and I don't want to be so sore that I can't walk the next day. So by doing those plus dancing (belly dance, bollywood, etc.) and pilates, I get a bunch of workouts to match my mood and none make me feel like I'm dying and dread working out the next day.
