New hair growth PRE-surgery!
TwinsMama replied to stacechase's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair grows really fast and yes, diet plays a huge roll. When I'm eating right, my hair and nails grow so fast it's not worth it to get cute cuts. Now that I'm post-op, I do notice that while my hair is growing (getting longer) it is also shedding. So, you're right to enjoy the new growth now. -
I second wellesse. I didn't care for the taste post-op but you can at least mask/change the basic flavor with MiO or some other no calorie flavoring. Give those a try...also most Walmarts have them, so no need to order online.

As angry as you are...and boy you have a right to be. Don't ditch your friendship or be upset too long over this. Your friend may have just had reality set in that...wow, she's going and I'm scared/worried about/etc her. This reminds me of the posts where people talk about how their spouse was supportive until it got "real". You never know, she may come around. Just accept that either way you are going to move forward and if this is the only slight (while yes a big one), the friendship may be worth saving. Now, I say this as someone who does not believe people have a right to inject their "issues/stuff" on others. Does she have her own weight issues? Could it be a bit of envy on her part that you are fortunate enough to be able to take this trip/get the surgery?

Help please, can't get protein, food intolerances
TwinsMama replied to Sleeveland's topic in Food and Nutrition
Nope, both have soy. I know you don't want to do a lot of soy...I get that. But they don't have any dairy (whey or casein). There are many different types but those I can do and I can't do any dairy except very mild cheese is tiny amounts. Edited to: cheese in tiny amounts. -
Grappling with the changes in perception, also known as, Damned if you do/Damned if you don't. :(
TwinsMama replied to Globetrotter's topic in The Gals' Room
This so much. I started to post along these lines earlier but couldn't make it sound just right. You hit the nail on the head. Most times it is not the weight that makes us invisible it is the lack of confidence...the fade to back (back of pictures, back of the room, etc.). We hide from the world (sometimes not even realizing it) and then when we're ready to be noticed, it happens faster than we expected. Also, Diva don't think the jerks are all over you due to your size. At 375 lbs a guy (with his woman in the car no less) tried to convince me to give him my number...with my wedding ring and TWO children with me. It happens at any size when your confident. You're oozing confidence so the guys just can't get enough. Keep positive and know that the good ones are out there too. They're just not as brazenly crazy as the losers. -

Same here...exact same situation except mine won't stay down long enough to get in a car. Comes right back up. I would suggest you try a few bars. Some can be high in carbs so really watch those. I've had luck with Atkins (Meal Replacement not the other ones) and CLIFF. Luna for a special treat (but they are women's bars so prob not your speed). -
I'm going to have to stop reading your posts in public...now I'm the weird lady laughing out loud...literally!

Congrats!!

Your tummy is still healing. Please don't have any more. I know it feels good to eat them, but that guy didn't realize it could kill him. The last thing you want is to get sick or worse from a few bites. Don't beat yourself up. Just keep on trucking and you'll do fine.

Yes, that's my new full. Pressure in the chest that feels like something heavy is sitting on me.

Nope, everything I've read/been told was to avoid Pasta, rice, etc. for at least 6 or so months...better to avoid for life. As a side note, my nurse in the hospital told me about a guy who died after surgery. He had it done with another Dr (he was about 6 weeks out) and was told not to eat any pastas, rice, etc. Well he couldn't resist and had some. Messed up his stomach bad and they couldn't get it closed up in time. He died on the ER table. She was literally in tears telling me about how it hit her hard.

I did for weeks actually. I would say as long as you're walking, there really isn't much else you can do.

If you're just looking for a program, I think anything with some sort of weights, band, etc. will do. Everyone here does different things to tone. Try to figure out something you enjoy. Maybe try a few different things. Once you find what you like, then you can come up with a regular schedule. The key is to be sure you like it enough to continue once you've been sleeved.

I was 3 weeks out and thought I was going to die...even with hubby being gentle.

Congrats, keep up the great work!!

My One Year Surgiversary!

Great work, congrats!! -
Depends on your program, insurance benefits, etc. If there is an advocate program with your insurance, you'll need to call member services and ask them for the information. You can also check online.

So crazy, mine was 6 months too but still it had the 1 extra month. You're right, each Dr is different. -
Confused with weight loss documentation!
TwinsMama replied to megandearcos's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For me it was 30 day rotations. So the second one jun-jul, jul-aug, andaug-sep. Each program is different so you may want to go and call your Dr. -
Got denied with a low BMI-but waiting to resubmit with a higher BMI--HELP!
TwinsMama replied to Tourist55's topic in Insurance & Financing
You may have to have proof you've been at the higher BMI for a period of time. People gain all the time to get surgery and insurance companies are on to that now. -
My Dr told me to wait at least 2 years post-op to do any other procedures. She mentioned I may want to consider a reduction once I lose the weight. I've always been even (hips and chest) but she said after having kids and breastfeeding, I may find that my loss up top is not as proportioned with the bottom half.

I didn't know that. I've used smooth move (years ago) during a detox. Wow, thanks for the info. Edited to say: didn't know senna could do so much damage. Did know there was senna in there.

I read about this. I just had to do a peace offering to my hubby because I've been a bit "extra" post-op. How long did your mood swings last? I'm thinking of trying to figure out some stress-free activities to do to calm myself down. This is the pits.

Also could be gas. I had the worst gas pain in my back, shoulders, and chest. Keep walking and sipping.
