    Giving yourself permission...

So great! You are really doing well. To sit thre and not eat I know was tough. I love reading your posts because you have such a positive outlook. So happy for this change for you! Edit: sit there
  2. I can't do lactose any more (except very mild cheese in tiny bits). I have always loved spicy foods but now they tend to taste a bit "extra" sometimes, like hot for no reason and not really flavorful. Kind of hard to explain. I can now taste when things aren't fresh. So many places I used to eat, I can't because now I know they freeze their food. Sweets and breads were my problem pre-op. I now have ZERO desire for sweets. I mean cake in my face and I start feeling sick. Bread still smells good to me but it just doesn't do it for me. Plus I can't keep it down so that makes me happy. Biggest thing now, I can taste things much more just by smelling them. So if something doesn't smell quite right, I taste that before I even take a bite. That's pretty weird for me because while I always had a sharp nose, now I taste more through my nose.

    Protein.......

Ditto. I have huge canisters I loved pre-op that I just knew I'd like post-op. Well the receipts are gone so on my counter they sit. I had to do the bars. They at least provide a bit more than I'm able to get down with solid foods. So I do a bar for Breakfast on some days. Then the rest of the day it is all solid food.

    Sleep apnea testing

They'd just order a machine for you and then you'd have to bring it with you to the hospital. Really depends on how fast they can get the machine to you.

    scared of being that 1%

Any surgery can kill you. That's a reality. If you trust your surgeon, don't stress over this. Believe me, no one wants to be that person, but there are usually so many things that can happen that make a person sue the Dr: - they didn't follow the diet and died - they didn't listen to the activity restrictions and died - they got sick (pre-existing condition not discovered until surgery) I can go on and on. The fact is, it is usually not in a vacuum that people sue Drs just look at some of the cases you see on TV. It is amazing what people will sue for.

    Sleep apnea testing

If he didn't order it, I say no. In the hospital they may give you a breathing tube in recovery and you certainly get one in the OR. Trust that he felt you were okay. Unless you think this is going to hinder your success, I'd say let it go. Also, realize that many people post-op see their apnea subside, so you may find after a month or so you wouldn't need it anyway.

    OMG

I work at a desk and still required 4 weeks off. I would say try to at least take 2 weeks and go from there. Sometimes we feel like we're fine, but there are lots of post-ops who return too quickly and end up out again. Better safe than sorry. Plus you can always go back early if you just can't tear yourself away for the extra time.

    Second thoughts?

Take your comfort in these 2 sentences. They don't get it. It is not your job to help them get it either. Some will over time (as they see you get healthier) and some never will. Either way, this is your decision, your body, your health, and your quality of life. Some people are okay sitting on the sidelines judging everyone's life. That is so their problem not yours. I made it absolutely clear (probably by my matter of fact disposition) that I was having this surgery and could care less what anyone thought about it. Make up your mind that you and what you think about you are enough. Once you do that, what they say/do/think just won't matter. Sending you hugs!!

    Second thoughts?

I'm going to be honest...I spent 2 years researching the surgery RnY or Sleeve. After 2 years I started the process (finally got my PCP on board too). Even during the process, which for me took a year due to the surgeons in my area being booked solid, I still had my times when I doubted. Then surgery came and I had complications. Recovery for me and even my weight loss has not been easy. At 8 weeks out, down 2 sizes, down a total of 41 lbs, and having more engery on most days that I know what to do with...I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING! I made this decison because I didn't want to drop dead and my hubby and kids be told oh well she was obese, it was weight related. I wanted to ensure that I lived as long as possible and as healthy as possible for my family. Sure, I can say it was for me too, but honestly, I want my kids to grow up healthy and I know I needed to get there to get them there. No one can convince you one way or the other. You've got to want this for yourself. It may take literally every day changing your mind, but once you're really ready, nothing will stop you. Best wishes to those of you pre-op. We've all been there and we know that on the other side is a precious gift many of us would have never found without the sleeve.

    Endoscopy results.

Call your Dr to find out if this pushes back your date. Better to find out now so you're prepared.
  13. Could be a mix of the Protein (maybe you're developing a reaction) and also keep up with the Water. The water does so much to help with more than just hydration. Look at the type of protein, I've seen people over time say they developed a reaction to whey, soy, and even egg. So far I haven't seen any probs with the veggie ones.
  14. So sorry, I'm praying everything works out for you!
  15. Looking good and wow that's a lot of progress in such a short time!

    Giving yourself permission...

I noticed this too. My parents (thin) didn't really enforce the "clean plate rule" but part of our large extended family did. Looking back, the ones that enforced this rule are also the ones (including their kids) with weight problems today. My thinner family members never forced food on us or even their kids for that matter. I should have figured that out long ago.
  18. Hey All, My Dr told me to ensure I'm taking my multi Vitamins twice a day. It hasn't really been a chore to figure out a good schedule to take the vitamins and meds (PPI and Gallbladder). However, this past week I'm noticing that as I'm getting farther out from surgery taking my multi (Flinstone Complete) in the afternoon is causing sleep problems. I even switched my workout to the AM because I was worried that was it. Nope, I've figured it's the multi as I've played around a bit with dosing times. Right now my vitals all look good but I'm wondering...would it mess up my vitals to take both doses in the AM? Anyone have any experience with this? My Dr said to try and see what happens, but I just don't want to find out too late that dosing so close together (more than 2 hours but less than 6) throws my vitals out of whack. Thanks for any suggestions/experiences you have to share!

    3 days post op

Yup, at only 3 days post op, you are lucky to be able to get that much liquid down. Everyone is different. Go slow, keep hydrated and worry about building all the other "stuff" up over time. Also, my diet was different than yours, I was on Clear Liquids for the first 2 weeks. So maybe try just clear liquids until you heal more and then move up to full liquids.

    Freaking Out

Many of us go through this. We think, okay it's really not that hard to lose. But over time we have all found ourselves here. Meet with the surgeon, ask your questions, and then make your decision. Whatever route you choose, trust that you know yourself and be confident in it.

    hello

It is best to ask your Nut or Dr. They can give you the program that they use. I was told anything low carb and high Protein. So that left me open for lots of options. Find one you like and don't buy too much of it as most of us have our tastes change post-op. Best wishes to you.
