Pace of weight loss
Scout1234 replied to sweetcheeks14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absolutely…I was 377 and lost a ton of weight very fast. No magic (other than the sleeve) …..followed the caloric demands from my surgeon and worked out like a maniac -
Circumferential Body Lift Done 12/6

WEEK 9 UPDATE: For those of you considering this operation as well as anyone that has recently had it and feel like you will never be able to get out of bed and or have no idea how long it will take you to get back to your exercise routine…... I am here to tell you that today I ran for 60 mins and covered 6.82 miles without any type of pain or problems. The scar is doing great…..it is fading very well. I believe the silicone strips are working well, they were expensive and are a pain in the a$$ because of the effort. Wake up, take them off, wash them, workout…..shower, put them back on….. and repeat in the evening if you workout again. But, like I said, it looks great so I will continue to keep up with them. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. -
I love my Dannon Greek Yogurt.....I live on the vanilla fat free with only 80 calories per container. I put a cup of fruit, usually blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries with a little granola (about a 1/4 cup) and it is a great Breakfast or snack for around 250 calories. It's awesome

I just bought this stuff and don't know what to do with it yet!!

I am 8 weeks post op from a lower body lift and my upper thighs are certainly a little saggy and I considered adding a thigh lift to the procedure. I am not saying my surgeon talked me out of it but I didn't do it. I wear a compression garment style of underwear to keep everything tight. My surgeon told me that once the skin is saggy no matter what you do in the gym or magic creams will help.

1 close to work, 1 close to home, 1 because a buddy and I workout together. All in I think it it costs me around $100 per month in gym fees. That pales in comparison to what I use to spend in junk food so I am WAY ahead of the game. Plus I have no excuse not to hit the gym!!!!!

I was sleeved so I don't have the same issue but Santa Claus bought me the Ab-Carver Pro (think it came from Dicks Sporting Goods) and It is crazy good for the tummy. I think its about 40 bucks and worth every penny

After my evening workout I eat as soon as I get home from the gym (which is about a 10-12 min car ride). I have not had a problem doing this and I try to make sure that it is not later than 7:00 or 7:30. We are all different but it has not slowed my progress at all! Good luck

When I don't feel like working out I just drive to the gym....I find that once I step into the place there is no way I am going to let someone see me leave after just getting there! 30 mins (at a minimum) later I feel FANTASTIC!!

I was religiously using Fitbit everyday to the point where I took it off only to shower and I linked it with myfitnesspal.com which is where I track my food. I have to be honest, I ditched it. If you have a regular fitness routine, these things are just gimmicks. However, if I can earn stuff with it I might dig it out!! Thanks for the heads up!

In addition to my 2 other gym memberships and my home gym......I just signed up at Planet Fitness and they have a 30 min circuit that combines Strength and Cardio.... My Goal is to do this circuit 3 times per week in addition to my running miles which is about 25 - 30 per week

I didn't have bandages for long, maybe a week or so. I still am wearing the binder 8 weeks later 24/7. I am sure I don't need to but it feels good and if it helps with swelling then I will stick with it for a while longer! -

CARDIO UPDATE: For those of you considering..... 1 day shy of 8 weeks and I was comfortable (physically, meaning no incision pain) at my 10 min mile pace for 45 mins. Prior to surgery I was a sub 9 min mile pace but my lungs are NO WHERE near ready for that yet. I have worked up slowly to the 6mph mark but today was TOUGH so I think I may drop it down. Since the speed isn't and won't be there for you for a while consider raising the incline. When I was at a slower speed than today I had it at 3% and today I did 2%. I should have lowered it further. LOL till next time! TOMORROW IS 8 WEEKS POST OP. I will post a few pics of my scar in a few moments -

Exercise update: Over the weekend (which would be a day or 2 beyond 7 weeks post op) I started jogging versus walking without any evidence of swelling. I started slow (3.7 mph) and I have worked up to 4.5 mph this morning. My sessions last 45 mins and I am surprised how well my lungs are functioning, meaning, I don't feel like I am about to drop over dead!!!! 15 weeks till my half marathon!!! Bring it on baby!! -

You are correct….the full body lift, lower body lift, and circumferential body lift all essentially the same operation. I realize that everyone comes from a different economic background but I will tell you that this operation is the icing on the weight loss cake and I would recommend you do everything you can to figure out a way to make it happen!!! www.carecredit.com Good Luck! -

Back on my old friend running for the first time. I spent the whole last week walking and it was killing me not to be running. So far so good. Only 7 weeks later. There were moments that felt like I would never be able to run again. If you are considering this operation .....I have said it before and I will say it again....you need to be mentally tough. It will mess with you. You did an amazing job losing the weight....then everything you were doing you can't do. It's easier while you are laying around recovering to eat poorly. Then you look down expecting to see a perfectly flat tummy and it's swollen and you wonder why you did this to yourself or are you the ONE person the procedure didn't work for. Dig deep!!! ITS ALL WORTH IT!!!!!!! JUST DO IT!! Use carecredit if you dint have all the money. Greatest investment of my life -
