Pics of tijuana if your nervous

To SweetTee who wrote: OMG! What am I doing, LOL!, I know exactly how you are feeling! Every once in awhile I think: "Maybe they (and you know who "they" are...I'm sure you have some of "them" around you) are right and I am absolutely crazy to be doing this!". But then I calm down and get back to that place deep inside of me that knows I am doing the right thing.

Thanks for the pics... it looks a lot different than I imagined. It's hard to believe that I will be there next week!

At OCC - lots of waiting

I'm happy to hear that you are on the "healing side" of your trip. Rest well at the Marriott...and soon you will be on your way home!

    Delayed Three Days.....

That is great news! It would be so hard to mentally adjust to a delay, especially in the middle of this pre-op diet. Good luck...I'll be watching for your posts. And don't forget your heating pad...

It will be your turn soon, SoCalDixieGal! Sorry that you had to wait so long...but it will be worth it. Hope you have a "low gas" night!

    February Sleevers

I'd like an invitation to the February 2013 Social Group! I'll be sleeved in Mexico on Feb. 21st by Dr. Garcia. My preop diet allows me a small evening meal (only clear liquids the day before surgery), but I'm thinking of going to all liquids for the final week. I want my liver to be as happy as possible when I'm in the operating room! I have to travel home from San Diego to Charlotte NC after surgery. I've been thinking about what I'll be drinking while on the plane ride back, and wondering the best way to get protein. Will my stomach be too tender for protein shakes?
  10. I'm on day one of my pre-op diet, and it is tough... but we can and must do this! I'm sure that it will get easier (but never EASY) as our bodies adjust to this drastic change.

    Im back, surgery 3/2

It's so good to have you back, amytug! For flying, just be sure to bring something to read...or if you have an electronic device, load up a movie or two to watch on the flight. Definitely bring something that plays music and earphones...to calm you and also in case you have lots of kids sitting nearby. I always travel with one of those blow-up pillows. I put only a small amount of air in it and place it behind my lower back because airplane seats have no lumbar support at all. I'll be flying from Charlotte NC to San Diego, with a layover in Dallas. Layovers are boring, but it's a great opportunity to walk around and people-watch. Since we'll be on Clear liquids while flying, I'll be well stocked with crystal light. I, too, was planning on using the injury chicken Soup... but yesterday I tried some for the first time and had an allergic reaction! Will try again today, and hope that it doesn't happen because that stuff is great and I had planned it as my "go to" Protein after surgery Advice to all: be sure to sample all the drinks and Proteins before you leave for surgery....because having an severe allergic reaction shortly after surgery would really, really suck!!
  12. It's been awhile since we heard from you, akwitham72. You've been through some tough times, and I'm a bit worried about you. Please post and let us know how you are doing. Sending good thoughts your way..... scsleever
  13. I have heard from akwitham72! Happy to report that she is OK and back at work!!! She definitely hit some bumps in the road. I'm hoping that we'll hear from her soon.
  14. Amytug... I'm so happy to hear that you will be having surgery soon! You and I (and others) are especially lucky because we will have Mexican Sleeves...which are the very best because they are designed to handle salsa and tejuila !! I'm scheduled for Feb. 21st with Dr. Garcia.
  15. Beth, I was reading posts on some of the post-op forums, and I was surprised to read that many people had trouble eating eggs early in their recovery. For some reason, scrambled eggs seem to upset alot of sensitive stomachs!

    Dr. Fernando Garcia

Sade326, I'm sorry to hear that you are having pain. Maybe Dr. Luna will prescribe something to help with that. I hope that you will rest better at the hotel, where it will be much quieter and the bed should be softer!

    Any February Sleevers 2013

I can certainly relate to the feelings that others are posting. As my surgery gets closer (Feb. 21st; Dr. Garcia), I'm in a swirl of emotions. Sometimes I'm excited and hopeful; other times I'm frightened at the prospect of surgery and possible complications. Throw in a dash of "how will my life change"...and you get the picture! It helps a lot to know that Salsha and JeniM73 will be there, too (their surgery is the day after mine). We'll encourage each other to walk, walk, walk!

    2 1/2 weeks post op

It is so great to hear from those of you who are weeks or months past your surgery in Mexico. I know that once surgery is done, your interests and concerns are about post-op issues, so some of the other forums are more informative for you. But I really feel that those of us who go to Mexico have a special bond... so it's nice to hear from the "veterans"!
  19. AngeleyesinNJ.. Thanks so much for posting the Marriott number! When were you sleeved - and how are you doing?

    Going to Mexico alone

Two weeks from today I will be traveling to Tijuana alone! Many friends and relatives think that I am out of my mind, but I have great faith in Dr. Fernando Garcia and his staff. I firmly believe that they will take excellent care of me.
  22. Mrs Havlock, It's hard to believe that mortality rates for morbidly obese people don't change when they lose 100+ pounds!
  23. Grannygoes4it, You are in luck...my research showed that Florida does NOT have an age limit for the surgery!

    Tijuana...here I come!

Thanks so much for giving us such great detail about your trip and your surgery. Hopefully, by the time you read this, you will be feeling much better! I've often read that the first day is the worst, and that it gets better each and every day after that. Happy healing!
