Surgery March 11...and 3 months to the day, my hair started filling my brushes and combs. I wash my hair and it looks like I'm pulling out a mouse out of the strainer/drain. I expected to loose some, but it was a shocker. But, as of today--I don't straighten my hair, avoiding the dryer, and eat even more protein. And I did get protein and vitamins in prior this, but I am waiting for the golden time the "fall out" slows down! I know it will....I know it will....I know it will.

3 month stall-weight loss h-e-l-l
Wrinkle replied to robinagogo88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 Month Stall here. And to compound the nuisance, my hair has started to fall out-- after I wash my hair it looks like I'm pulling out a "mouse" out of the drain. So right now, not too proud. BUT still-I feel better in my clothes and I pray my hair will come back in. I figure-or hope-that everything will get back to a semblance of normality. Hope you get your weight loss kick-started again! -
Go for it. I'm 61 and wished I'd done it 5 years ago!

I'm almost 3 months out, but I remember vividly my first weeks of post op. This may not help you, except to let you know-you are not alone. I had a hard time with getting in protein, water, and or meals. I was encouraged to attempt any allowable full liquid every 2 hours. My protein drinks were considered fluids not a meal. I physically could not take in but sips. And I was not getting in but 300-350 calories either. I tolerated liquid yogurt w unflavored (Unjury) protein, I could tolerate Nectar protein and would add some unflavored protein to that. My Nut "Full liquid die"t for the second week was 3 meals ( 2-4 ounces, I could not get more than 1.5 ounces in) Protein requirement at 2 week-at minimum 40 grams. Minimum 48 ounces liquids, Starting w thin liquids and advancing. Doing great now-and I am telling you--IT gets better! Hang in there-stay hydrated and keep trying things until you find some food you like.

Full like after thanksgiving dinner
Wrinkle replied to Kcarr1120's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Like CarrieP,It doesn't take much to get that full feeling. Sleeved in March. I feel comfortable with 2- 3 ounces (volume). If I try to eat anymore--I get that uncomfortable "in the throat-burpy feeling" too. A quarter of a sandwich is almost too much. -
Greetings- 61 here. Sleeved March 11. I appreciate this thread and connecting with other 60's or close to 60s! Slow looser but was a low BMI.

3 days post op MY BACK IS SORE
Wrinkle replied to weigh-in's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 3/11. OH----I had back pain-low backache! My pain started about the 4th day postop. A heating pad helped me. I could tell a difference within hours. I would at least be able to do my walking. BUT, when I was sitting-I had that heating pad on. -
As proudgrammy--WATER. I am 2.5 months postop. I can't get the 64. I had a problem prior with water and it remains a problem. Also, forgetting not to drink 30 minutes before and after remains a problem. As far as chewing-I was a fast eater before. I make a conscious effort to chew-chew-chew. After the post-meal discomfort from not chewing, I learned.

Anyone else considering sleeve with BMI ~32
Wrinkle replied to highhopes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I should add that my weight started coming on when I hit 53 then I started attempting MRC, HCG, Nutri Systems, Jenny Craig, Optifast, and Weight Watchers (several times). Each attempt was soon followed with weight gain. But no more. -
Anyone else considering sleeve with BMI ~32
Wrinkle replied to highhopes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved in March My BMI was 31. I had several health issues-blood pressure, cholesterol, bad knees, pre diabetic. Of course my insurance did not pay. But, after 8 years of yo-yo dieting, I chose the sleeve. My weight loss is slower than the higher BMIs. In 2 months-my BMI is 26. I lack 15 pounds to goal. I am off my cholesterol meds, reduced my B/P medications. I feel more in control of my health and exercise does not bother my joints like before. BUT, it is a major surgery and you need to consider all risks. BTW-I am a 61 year old working nurse. -
7 wk post op...approved for real food but can't eat.
Wrinkle replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 9 weeks out. I can eat 2-3 ounces pretty easily. I ate a whole egg this week-very slowly. As 921Amy stated-it depends on how dense the food is. When I was given the OK to eat "real food" I couldn't get more than 2 bites down. I still have problems with steak or hamburger. And I am scared to try a lot of things. BUT it does get better! -
With everyone on this thread! 9 weeks out stalled and gained 2 pounds. Going back to liquids!

what should you be eating one month after surgery
Wrinkle replied to toy27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was on a "soft diet." Chicken, canned tuna, fish etc. Vegetables that could "smash" easily. No raw vegetables or tough meat. And I was taking in about 2 ounces for each meal. -
Unfortunately, no words of wisdom--just empathy. I am 6 weeks out and was told to up my protein and start eating the regular diet. Moved from soft to regular (2 ounces) and upped protein---one or both are giving me major cramps and diarrhea. Sipping Gatorade and when I finally get thru this--going back to soft diet.

Just got sleeved a 4/11/13
Wrinkle replied to love1985's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your path to good health! And you will definitely see changes. Keep us updated on your progress!!! -
I have a problem with water as well. I get maybe 32 ounces and HAVE to drink something else. I found I can handle G2(Gatorade) Not overly sweet!! I don't do well with the protein either. I can get Nectar protein down--but it can't be the fruity flavors. I do ok with the chocolate, vanilla and mango only. Starting the soft phase and love CHEESE and eggs- working toward the meat. Hopefully I can get enough food protein instead of drinking it. A day at a time.....

I was sleeved 3/11 I'm now 61. Had a sliding esophageal hernia. (in abdomen and chest-) That was the worst part. . Doing well right now. Going on 6 weeks. I feel for you and your band. I had a hard time with deciding to go with a band or do the sleeve. I did have 2 drains for 10 days. I am still glad I chose the sleeve! Message me--I will be happy to share experience.

New here! Any low BMIers?
Wrinkle replied to Teachamy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved 3/11. My BMI was 31. I had been on BP medication for 10 years, was on cholesterol meds, fatty liver, painful knees and sleep apnea. Since surgery I have decreased my BP med, I was taken off Crestor, I have just started exercising again. Lost 20 pounds. Things definitely looking up! -
March Sleevers - what does your diet consust of
Wrinkle replied to Jazzy1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I couldn't handle eggs...I always loved eggs. I first was able to poach them and only could tolerate the yoke. But, yesterday I took an egg started pan cooking and added a slice of white American cheese. It scrambled great and I was able to eat half of it. Ate the remaining at a snack. Ended up with 10 grams of protein--and the egg was good! I was sleeved 3/11 and only can take in 2 measured ounces at meals or snacks. I realized I felt uncomfortable if I tried pushing that 2 ounces to 3. -
How many meals & how much can u eat ?
Wrinkle replied to SA Ramirez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
4 Weeks out. 2 ounces (not weight -I measure volume) every 3-4 hours. I was not getting enough protein-my weight coach said to eat at least 5 times. 3 Meals and 2 snacks. -
March Sleevers - what does your diet consust of
Wrinkle replied to Jazzy1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was 4 weeks Monday. I am there with you on the shakes and water. I am trying to do the food protein instead of the liquids. I haven't been very adventurous with foods--but I'm going to have to! -
I'm with you. Tuesday I was able to eat an ounce of mashed potatoes-today no. Yesterday I could eat a 1.5 ounces of tuna-today no Today-nausea with anything solid/soft. I went back to my soups too. I'm 3.5 weeks out. Everyone says it will get better!
